IVF didn't work.

Post by bonniedoo »

I am very sad to say today that my first IVF didn't work. Everything went perfectly....46 eggs were retrieved! Three were transferred (8,4,5) on day 3. How many IVF's is enough?? I will hold my head up and hope for the best in the future. BTW...I am 32 and DH is 33. So far they are saying in is unexplained infertility. Does anyone have any encouraging words. Thanks for your help. Christine

Christine,
I am sorry to hear the heartbreaking news. I was studying at a library when I got my BFN. I was real hopeful because I had no cramping/bleeding (compared to my IUI- I used to get the period by the pregnancy test date) and somehow I wished that someone told me not to be too hopeful. I feel your pain!

Anyways, it is never easy (even when you know ahead of time), just remember that there are other things in life that are beautiful. There is more to life than being able to conceive.

Deepa,
IUI cycles were much different and I also never made it to a pregnancy test. I was psyched because I didn't have my BFN and I thought maybe there was a possibility that I could be pregnant. I also have no cramping and minimal PMS symptoms. It is very deceiving. Thanks for the encouragment and you are right there is more to life.

I'm so sorry to hear. This is a difficult time.

Do you have some frozen embies left? Ghost often talks of successes with FET after a -ive fresh cycle. We are also unexplained and it's very frustrating but I've never had any frosties ones to try that. If you do, you have plenty of chance to get a BFP from that route. Plus, you're still young, so time is still on your side.

I wish you all the best, hang in there.....

There were no eggs to freeze. I was sad to hear tht actually considering I had no many eggs. I am going to take a few months off and get my life together and then start over on dec/jan.

46 eggs with no embryos left to freeze is surprising. Very surprising.

The failed fresh cycle is not surprising.
