Hi there

Has anybody done a blastocyst implant?

I am having six!!! embryos defrosted on Monday for implant on Thursday.
Basically they put them in a culture to make them grow. Before they have put them straight in not knowing if they would survive or not. By making them grow they have a better chance of implanting. Can't help worrying that they might not survive the thawing process and I will be left with no embryos.
Having spoken to the hospital they said there is a 60/40 percent change of survival, saying that this is a relatively new procedure.
Anybody got any info on this?

Thanks
Lissa
x
hi

i had blastocyst a couple of months a go at bourn. we had 7 but none of them made it past day 3. i found it much better than having to wait for the 2wk. if you get them to blastocyst stage you have a 50% chance of them working. Even though we did not get to et i would still do it again. Please do not be put off. i'm sure one of the girl's on the scb has just got pg with blastocyst.

all the best with your tmt.

from july ann
been in tmt for 4 years.Male factor. Have had 3 icsi, one ivf with donor sperm.Went for fet with 7 eggs but none made it to blastocyst. just had 5 DI. test date 27 july
Hi Lissa

I am in Australia and go to a clinic that uses it all the time. They have said that they have had far greater success using this method than implanting embryos after 2 days. I have not been through it yet as I am still on my first cycle but as july ann says, the theory is that only the strongest and therefore the embryos more likely to embed make it to day 5. I think they have been using it for a few years at my clinic and their success rates have really jumped up since they moved to it. can't help much more than that sorry.

good luck with your treatment.

Kate W
Hi Lisa

I strongly recommend Blasto's, as I am now 13 weeks pregnant, after having one put back!! First time I have ever used them, and only 2 made it to day 5, with only 1 `perfect' blastocyst.

I had my treatment at The Lister in London, and would highly recommend the clinin too!

Best of luck! Keep posting on how you get on!

D x
Me 34, DH, 37. Married for 11 years, ttc for 6+, failed 4 x fresh IVF tmts. 5th attempt at Lister Hospital gave us Megan on 5 April 2004 with a very straightforward pregnancy and labour. Attempt number 6 to start hopefully September 2007!
Hi Lissa. I just got a positive result with a blasto! I started out with 10 embryos. I only ended up with 1 blastocyst, and one that was just a little behind. Those 2 were put back in. Since I had 1 good blastocyst, I had a 50% success rate. I'm really glad to have waited to day five to be able to know which embryo was most likely to survive.

Good luck!
Val
Thank you for all your responses.
I shall go for the six then and see what happens.
I know I will be gutted if none survive but its better than three goes at FET with no positive result.
I am also at the Lister so hopefully it will work for me too.
Its our wedding anniversary today and was feeling really down (not about being married for another year!! but IVF!!) but your messages of good news have perked me up. I will toast your success tonight with a glass of champagne! Any excuse!
Thanks girls and good luck with your pregnancies!
lol
Lissa
x
