LUPRON side effects

Ladies,
I have taken two injections of Lupron and am feeling terrible. I am a long time headache person and it has triggered daily headaches for the past 2 days (within 6-8 hours of my injection). I also have some breast tenderness and feel fullness in my ovaries. Is this common? Any advice? Motrin is not helping at all!

welcome to this site. It will be very helpful for you. I have found some sanity with this site!

When I first started taking the lupron, i was getting headaches and some upset stomach. Are you also taking BCP with the lupron? I was and they had me take my prenatal,folic acid and baby aspirin with the bcp in the mornings and take lupron injections at night. I guess this will only work if you are only doing 1cc of lupron daily. Good luck to you!

Hi Michele,
the good news is the headaches ease off after a few days from my experience....and are you due your AF? how much Lupron are you on?...i know that can make a difference Lupron can cause cysts its one of those side effects...it all does get better once you start the stimms too...so hopefuly wont be too bad for you...i didnt find anything to take that really made a difference i also started to get really tired too during down reg i think its something to do with low estrogen

Hi Michele - I was on 10 units of Lupron during my down regging and the only thing that I noticed was that I had hot flashes at night. I didn't realize that they were hot flashes initially. All I knew was that I'd wake up in the morning with no clothes on because at some point in the night, I'd take them off. One time my DH was still awake when I was taking off my shirt and he had told me that I was drenched in sweat. They didn't last too long, just during the down regging. I stayed on Lupron (but reduced to 5 units) when I started my stims and I didn't notice anything then.

I hope your headaches are gone or at least getting better. Hopefully your body just needs a few days to adjust to the Lupron.

Hi,

I have one question, Auntie said that Lupron can cause cysts, I have had two operations because of cysts that I have had so that drug may not be a good choice for me. Is there any other meds beside lupron that would be prescribed for IVF? All I have really heard people talk about is lupron. Any info would be great! Hope everyone is doing good!

Hi Fed.... i get cysts every cycle my Dr doesnt want to change Lupron... i have heard other women use Birth Control for downregging i would ask your Dr if there is an alternative...my cysts have not effected my IVF though i had two large ones on the first IVF and three on the second all after starting Lupron my Dr says as long as there is enough good ovary to get eggs from its not a problem...

I am on 10 units and will reduce to 5 units when I start stims. Headaches continue and now chills and profuse sweating at night. I am glad to hear it may level off. I was thinking this would be the entire cycle so that is some good news. thank you so much......

how are you doing? I started Lupron today, 10 units and feel very nauseous and dizzy.

Hello ladies! I have a tendency for cysts as well and have been on Lupron through 2 cycles with none forming. My side effects were headaches and dizziness for the first couple days and then my left eye lid was twitching during the entire use.

I have no idea... Most of my symptoms seem to have subsided after the first few days though.

MidwifeMom- When I was on Lupron, I had very little side effects (if any). However, I did get the odd headache. The only reason why I chimed in is I noticed that you took Motrin (Ibuprofen, Advil). It is not recommended while trying to grow eggs. It can affect egg quality (this is what my RE told me). You should be okay because you are downregging and not stimming. I took Advil once or twice and then was told no more. Take Tylenol. So I just took nothing actually. Egg quality for me was excellent (so not to worry if you only took it a few times).
