Weight Watching!!

Post by Welshgirl38 »

Hi,

I know there are a few of us out here who are trying to lose weight and get healthier for our next bout of treatment. I want to lose at least 28lb (2 stone) so i thought i would make a thread - somewhere where we can come and egg each other on, share our weight loss :D (or maybe gains lol) share recipies etc.
I wasnt sure what to call the thread, fatties didnt quite cut it, so good old weight watching it was lol.

Hope theres a few of us here, i could do with the support - Ive joined a slimming world class and am going to diet club later at 5pm (every Tuesday) i will let u know how much i put on (opps - i mean lost lol)

Catch ya later ladies ....

Hey Becky,
I am not trying to lose weight but just wanted to say good luck and cheer you on!
In January I did the same thing. Was prolly 25 lbs overweight and I joined NutriSysytem. Worked awesome and now I am down to 130lbs which is where I wanted to be! I feel so much better now and I never thought I would be a size 6 again!

Again good luck...if I can do it anyone can do it! :)

Hey Allison,

Thanks for the support - and congratulations on the weight loss :D
im just back from class and am really disapointed, i only lost 2lb  on my first week!!!!! Im gutted, (The last time i joined -a yr ago - i lost 7.5 lbs in the first week) but consultant told me that was fine and that losing at a healthy pace was better in the long run - bla bla bla - yeah wotever! Im really gutted.
The only consolation i have in all this is that i mite be heavier cos AF is over a week late, and i already look 7 mths preggers lol, im so bloated, did anyone else have problems with their first AF after having a BFN?

Becky, way to go girl, good idea this thread. 2lbs is better than no lbs or +lbs, so well done Image , you should be proud that you have lost some.
Don't forget your body has been through a lot in the last few months and it takes a few months for the drugs to completely get out of your system and as you said, AF is just the corner. Don't punish yourself too hard, you are doing well. i'm behind you all the way!!

love and hugs

Hi Becky,

This thread is a fantastic idea and I only wish that something like this was around when I was trying to loose weight!!
Like you I wanted to loose weight before I started my treatment, and I found it so hard, I have PCOS which also makes it hard!
I lost 2 stone and I do feel alot better for it but I have to weigh myself every week because otherwise the weight starts to creep back on and I don't want that to happen!
I think that 2lbs is a great weight loss for a week, it doesn't matter if it is your first week it is still one whole bag of sugar less that you weigh!!! WELL DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is so easy to get dishartened by the little losses but they are the losses that will stay off and never return! and do remember that around the time of AF our bodies are always a little hectic!
I am like you and I always wanted to see big differences but just think of it this way, you only have 5lb more to lose and you will have already lost half a stone!!
Don't try and look at the whole picture, try to give yourself lots of little pictures and it seems much more achievable that way!
I hope that you stay positive and I will be keeping my eye on this post to see how you do if you don't mind!! I know I have not got weight to loose but I do fight too keep it off and I always dread my monday weigh in!!
I think that I can say that I know what you are going through and if you ever want to chat or if I can help in any way please let me know, I would love to help you with this journey!!

Take Care

Cheeky Monkey/ Nimble,

Thanks guys, you've made me feel a whlole lot better now :D i was so disapointed, but as u say 2lbs is 2lbs - a bag of sugar lighter, and 2lbs closer to my goal - thanks :D (This is better than diet club, i never normally stay to class lol)

Hi Rachel,

I try not to eat after 6/7pm, if i do have to have something i only allow myself yogurt or fruit. The diet class i joined is online if u want to take a look
www.slimming-world.com, if u click on the 'healthy eating' link it wil take u to the next page with a link for a free 7 day trial where u are guaranteed weght loss. You can also join up online if there are no classes near you.
I have used this diet before, a yr ago i lost a stone, and then about 10 yrs ago when it first came out, i went back down to a size 12 (oh to be a 12 again lol)
I recommend this diet cos there are so many 'free foods' on it - u can eat as much as u like of the free foods, on red days these encludem eat, and green days encludes pasta (which i love, Rice and potatoes (which i cant go without lol)
Im a wee bit disapointed this week with just the 2lb loss, as usually i would have lost more on the first week - but im putting it down to AF lingering her ugly arse, and i eat like a horse when she is about - and the fact that last weekend i was really bad, eating crisps, chinese, drinking wine and bacardi (gawd i sound like a food junkie and an alkie lol)
I have had strawberry ice cream this evening, i felt i had to induldge, as i think u get disheartened if u dont giv urself a treat now and again.

Good Luck and let me know how it goes ....

Becky Xxxx (2lbs lighter - but prob a 1lb heavier with the strawberry icecream lol)

Hi Becky and everyone who is trying to lose weight. I just wanted to pop in and wish you luck. In order to get on the waiting list for IVF I had to lose 2 1/2 stone so I know what you are going through. This thread is really going to help you and if I can offer you any support I will be there for you.

Anyway, for those of you loosing weight. This thought keep coming in my mind. i feel like i ve read before that 3 month before IVF we can't loose so much weight. I forgot to ask my DR n i think i already throw the paper which mention about it.

Sorry, i don't want to make you scary. But i want the best for all of us. I hope what i read is not true. Cause i also want to loose weight so bad :( :(

Becky well done that's fantastic. I lost 3 1/2 stone last year so know exactly what you are going through, I lost weight every week, some weeks it was only 1/2 lb but a loss is a loss and in a few weeks times you need to look at your overall loss. My friend was always a week behind. When she did the diet really well it wasn't until the following week that it showed on the scales.

Always allow yourself a treat if you want one (providing they aren't every hour). I used to do weightwatchers and always went for a curry on the night of the weigh-in (afterwards of course), I changed to a tikka rather than a mossalla but I felt good afterwards and as I say I always lost weight. If you have a bad day it doesn't matter, tomorrow is a new day.

I will be on this thread come next March, when you are all on the other side putting this weight back on with your babies, I'll be trying to lose it. I've already put on just under 3 stone and I'm only half way there - I only put on 2 1/2 in my last pregnancy!

I never used to think of it as a diet more of healthy eating. Diet is a horrible scary word!

When I started my treatment I asked about dieting, in my eyes I had 6 weeks from the start until EC to get myself in the best possible shape for receiving my embryos. The clinic said it was a great idea as long as it wasn't a crash diet.

Good luck to all of you. It's so great when you do it together. Your tickers look fab, so positive.

Hi Ladies,

This is a great idea!! Well I fianlly got AF!! She was 3 days late.

Now I can focus on diet because before she came I was bloated and HEAVY!!

Becky,

I will try to lose 28 lbs with you... can we do that in 2 months? And still be healthy?

Today for lunch is homemade shrimp stir fry. It doesnt have all the sodium. It has shrimp and fresh veggies and a little seasoning. Its about 130 cal per serving.

If its not too cold when I get home from work I will go for my 3 mile walk.

What are you all doing to lose weight?

Good luck!!

Hi Ladies,

Thanks for all ur encouragment - i have been really good today :D I had weetabix with skimmed milk for breakfast, fruit for snacks b4 and after lunch - for lunch i had tinned tomatoes (i love em so im lucky lol) on brown wholemeal bread (no butter or marg - but cant tell as tomatoes soak it up lol) and for tea i had a chicken stir fry. Always fried in Fry light - that is my savoir, i use that at all times.
Ive just had a yogurt and a highlight choc drink - ive used just 8 syns today (thats treats ladies) and im allowed between 10 and 15 so ive done really well and am proud of myself :D

JackieG: Your lucky AF has arrived for u, im just over a week late and look about 7 mths pregnant, im really bloated, nothing fits my @@'s are killing me so i know she's on her way. 28lbs in 2 mths - ermm i will try but i cant promise i can do that - thats 2 stone lol, that means a stone a mth = half a stone every 2 weeks = 3.5lbs every week - well im already off target on that score LOL. (AND xmas is comming lol) But i promise i will try with u hun - i want to make sure mine is off by the time EC comes around for me. I have to wait for AF in Jan to arrive, so by the time EC is, it will be Feb, so it gives me an extra mth or so lol. If we lose it too fast, it will only go on twice as quick - steady weight loss is better in the long run (so they say lol) But im glad ur here with us - we can do this together :D

Pebbles: I ALWAYS allow myself a treat lol- which is usually a couple of glasses of wine (but spirits are better - less calories! - so i mite just change to bacardi lol) but what usually happens is, once ive had the few glasses, the diet goes out the window and the little fat devil on my shoulder is egging me on into the fridge, cupboard or the local chinese lol. The thin one always ends up huffing in the corner while me and fatty get on and down with the big tube of pringles LOL.

BUT:

All that is gonna change, cos in mths to come i want to be sitting having a cuddle with my baby - not my pringles, so the fatty on my shoulder can go and take a run & jump - i will be thin (er) by Jan/Feb and i WILL get my BFP :D
Come on ladies - we can do it :D

Jemma: Welcome - u can be excused for ur holiday lol, everyone is allowed one of those

Angela: Thanks for ur support hun, ive been keeping up to date on ur progress, and im so glad the scan went so well for u, its a wonderfull feeling seeing ur baby for the first time, im so glad uve been able to experiance that :D

Well thats it for this evening ladies, be good and always remember.......

Women who pick - end up wearing big knicks  LOL

Jackie:

Yes they can be cookies (honestly lol) BUT - u have to stick to the rest of the plan. If u go here
www.slimming-world.com

(Thats the diet im on) and click on 'healthy eating on the left hand side, then go to 'free trial 7 day menu - read up on ur syns etc, if u need any help let me know. If u love meat and pasta/rice/potatoes, u will love this diet - and yes - u can have cookies (i think they vary from 4 - 5 syns each) but u have to stick to the rest of the diet plan or it wont work.

I didnt have breakfast today (too late  ) but i did pick up 2 bananas on way out the door, so will delve into them about 10ish and hope i dont collapse of starvation by 1pm LOL

Good luck hun ....
