Bekki and Usma3690
Good luck on your egg collections!! We were very lucky and were able to retrieve 17 eggs. We will not know the quality or how many fertilized until tomorrow. I swear the waiting is driving me crazy already, how am I going to make it through the 2ww. Anyways please let me know how everything goes for you and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!!
Well I had my egg collection today. It was so quick. The anaesthetic was not soo bad I had a mask type of thing on my face and breathed some stuff in. I also had that horrible needle type of thing in your hand - that was what hurt the most as they put it in! It only lasted arounf 20 mins and I was awake before I had time to think. I am just a bit tender and sore at the moment. If I sit in certain positions ans sometimes it hurts a bit as I walk. I am written off sick though.- Is 9 too less? They did not not comment.. Everyone else is getting like 17 -20 eggs .. so I was like a bit dismayed with 9.. Hopefully some good will come out of them. The transfer is planned for Sarurday at 11.50am. I am having my treatment in Germany - Berlin (hubbie is German ) so not only have I had the normal worry through all of this, but there is the language difference too. Luckily I have understood all the doctors so far as my German is good and when they took the eggs today there were loads of other women there too also having their eggs collected and they were all really nice - talking and very freindly.
Thought I should let you know how it went - and also I did get a good nights sleep last night - thanks to Jo und Usma. So I was not tired at all!!
Nine eggs is good, and Jo is correct - it is quality over quanity. I was depressed wtih only 4 follicals and the nurse told me they had a woman with only 3, but 2 fertilized. Then there was the woman with 19 and only 1 fertilized. They should tell you tomorrow how they are doing. I'm glad that part is over for you. I'm in Virginia and it is almost exactly 8:15 here so I was thinking about you. Didn't realize you were so far away!
My retrieval is Friday morning. I'll let you know how it goes.
Thanks all for the replies. I am going to have a rest and a lie down now - quite thirsty and tired.. Usma, yes let me know how it goes on Friday - I will let you know how the transfer goes for me on Sarurday too. Thinking of everyone!!.
Hi ladies,
Well the doctor just called and said that of the 17 eggs collected 14 were mature and 13 have fertized. All 13 are growing according to schedule and look excellent. I am soooo excited!!!
My doctor actually said that to collect so many eggs is not uncommon but to have so many fertilize is rare.
Do not feel down over your number of eggs, it only takes one!! A friend of mine went through IVF and had four eggs fertilize none of the four divided into the number of cells the doctors would like to see. They transfered all four back in and told them the chances were slim. She now has a beautiful 10 week old baby boy. so you never can tell what will happen! I wish you all the best of luck and will keep you in my prayers.
Wow Jill. 14 eggs is enough for a baseball team!!! How many do you think you'll put in? Keep the rest for later so you don't have to go through the first part of this again!!!
I LOVED your friends story. It's what I need to hear right now.
Keep in touch with how things are going with your "nest"!!!
Vic Hey we are planning on transfering 2 eggs back. We will be freezing as many of the other eggs that qualify as we can. Now I am anxious for Friday to arrive so that I can get an update on my babies!!!
I will be thinking of and praying for you during your collection in the morning!! Bekki how are you feeling? Are you anxious to get an update on you eggs? I am hoping you are doing well. PebblesUK
How is that wonderful little baby growing today? Are you feeling alright.
Wishing you all the best !!
Transfer is planned for tomorrow (Friday 20th 11.50am German time ). I mentioned in an earlier post I am in Berlin, Germany having the treatment done. I am actually from the UK, but my husband is German. I called the doctor today and he said everything has worked wonderfully with the fertilization and that there were no problems. How many actually fertilized out of the 9 I do not know - but they mentioned there were no problems whatsoever. 2 embryos will be placed back in.
I was really sore after the short surgery yesterday. Sitting in certain positions or walking was very uncomfortable indeed. It also gave me the runs!! Today is not so bad at all, I just hope for a smooth transfer with not too much discomfort!!
Thinking of you all!!! - infact everyday, and hoping all turns out well for us!!
Way to go Bekki, good luck for your transfer tomorrow then you just do what your body tells you to. Keeping everything crossed.
Wow Jill 14 that's fantastic. When are they planning transfer?
My baby is doing great, thanks for asking. I've been feeling it move since week 10, started as bubbles and tickles, then somersaults but today I felt it kick while my hand was on my belly which was just amazing.
Vic good luck for tomorrow. I hope all goes well during retrieval and they get some nice good eggs.
Thinking of you all.
Jo

Hey I am so glad to hear your little one is doing well. I bet it was amazing to feel that little kick today. Weird how something so small can be so huge huh.
They are planning my transfer for this Saturday. They will call me tomorrow morning to let me know how the embies are growing and to set the time for the transfer on Saturday. I can't wait to hear how they are!!
Vic
Good luck with your egg collection tomorrow. I have a feeling there are some strong eggs in there!! Let us know how it all goes!!
Bekki
It must be neat to see them inside - in a safe "home". What is your procedure now? How long doyou wait for blood tests?
I had my retrieval this morning. They took what they thought were four eggs, but when they got them under a microscope- there was only one and fluid in the others. No explination from the Dr. We'll find out tomorrw if the lone ranger was able to fertilize and move on from there.
Bekki, Yeah those babies are back where they belong!!
Vic, I am praying for you to have a super embie that is strong and determined!!
I go in tomarrow for my transfer. They will decide in the morning which 2 appear the strongest out of the 13 fertilized. We know that one is progressing really slow but the other 12 look great. Hopefully we have lots of blastocysts in the morning to chose from!! I will be on best rest through Monday so unless my husband has a way to bring the computer to me I may not be able to check in until then. So just in case I wish you all a great weekend and to everyones eggs, embies and babies stay strong and healthy!!
