AFP Test

I recently gave blood for a AFP test and it came back positive. I was told this is normal since I am carrying twins, but dr. has moved up my ultra sound to rule out abnormailites. I have heard of alot of false positives w/ this test and would like to know if anyone else has been given this test and what was the outcome. Thanks!

I had same problem during my pregnancy; Nurse called me and told me that I'm carrying abnormal pregnancy, I was scared and sad almost whole month BUT at the end I got two beautiful boys! I asked same question on this board 7 month ago.

well you should just enjoy your pregnancy and not to worry abt this kinda stuff, just stay happy and eat healthy food. May god bless you!

My doc actually suggested not having that test due to unpredictable results for a multiple pregnancy. Why someone had you do it anyways, I'm not sure. Makes for unnecessary stress. I know it will be hard, but try not to dwell on anything until your ultrasound. And even then, ask divinagrace about that, they told her she was possibly carrying a baby with down syndrome, and her girls are fine.

I did not request this test at all! My Dr. ran it along w/ other tests because I am still vomiting in my 5th month. Had my ultrasound yesterday and from what they can see I am carrying 2 healthy baby boys! I am refusing an amniocentesis since I will keep my babies no matter what, but they don't see any abnormalities or anything that looks alarming. Thanks again everyone for your advice.
