FET -natuaral or drugs??

Post by SBROWN »

Just had a negative(last friday) FET and have follow up appt thur 09/10.
We did a Frozen cycle assisted by drugs, basically shut down with superfact & then Oestrodial tablets & pessaries for rest of tmt....

Reading through the clinics brochure I noticed we can do a FET with drugs (£1100) or a FET, natural cycle(£550)

Was wondering if there were any +ve out there from FET and if so which cycle did you do/recommend.
Obviously will check with clinic but if the stats are the same, am tempted by natural as would assume this takes less time?? and is cheaper and as no drugs would assume no mood swings etc, also, would be interested to hear from people who it has worked for as I am a bit cynical in thinking clinic will steer me towards drugs cycle as they will get more money......

Any feedback appreciated
Sarah
xx

FET -natuaral or drugs??

Post by kathryn »

hi sarah,
we are doing a natural fet at the moment. had embies popped back this morning!
We didnt get a choice in what we had .(although Im glad it was the cheaper natural one!) I think it depends on your circumstances. but a natural does seem to of been quick as you wait for af then they scanned from day 9 through to when the lead follie was 14mm then once I had surged (using home ovulation kit)it was 3 days after that they popped them back in!
as its natural, im not doing the pessaries either!
I too though would like to read the positive stories from a natural fet! I saw your post on the other side...Ill be watching it!

all the best sarah
lots of love
kathryn
x
Thanks Kathryn

I will be keeping everything crossed for you...
Apart from having to go in for scans frequently it does sound less invasive, I will deffo ask my clinic about this way....
What happens after FET....do you test on day 14 as normal or is it just a case of AF not arriving??? Also, did you still have to wait for 2 AFs before starting after last ET??

Sorry for the questions but have follow up appt thur & want to go in armed with lots of questions,

Take care & good luck
Sarah
xx

hi sarah,
my last tmt ended in a miscarriage, 6 weeks later I had a really heavy bleed, but I was allowed to use that as period, and day one of that was classed as day one of a fet cycle. so tmt started really quick! I thought I was going to have to wait for another af.

take care
kathryn
x

I had 2 fet;s - one no drugs at all and negative and 2nd was natural fet but took the dreaded pessaries as back up and bingo - positive - I know as my AF did not arrive and had a feeling.
However as you no doubt have read we lost our precious baby at 20 weeks so still grieving.
I had to wait 2 AF;s but some are different - better to wait if you can but no medical reason if you have not had drugs.
Good luck
Love
Tracey
xxx

Hi Sarah,

Hope you are well.

I have always had to do drug FET due to my PCOS and as you no these haven't been successful. I have the impression that the chances are better with natural FET and would have done that if I had had the option. It must surely be better to intefere as little as possible.

Love

Karen
xx
