Time Between IVF

Post by usma3690 »

I just had my first failed IVF, actually didn't even make it to transfer. I'm ready to start again.....like tomorrow. Does anyone know how long they will want me to wait until I can give it one more try?
Thanks

It is normal to want to get back into another cycle right away. Take a few months off and see how you feel about throwing more $$$ into the clinic's coffers. Doctors typically wait for 2-3 months anyway.

Vic

I read something like a two month pause. I think around December should be ok - like you wanted. But it is entirely up to you and how you feel. Maybe pop into the Docs and have a quick chat? I would have thought certainly by December at the latest you should be ready. Especially as you seem to have remained so positive since the failure.

Thinking of you still.

I had the same question

I got a BFN last Friday for the 3rd IVF. I was extremely sad this time, but still, I am looking forward to another fresh cycle. I was told I could start another IVF with the short protocol next month when I would be getting my second AF after this IVF. Since I have got my AF on Sunday (22nd Oct), so I think I will start my next IVF around 20th November.

My last EF was on the 5th Oct and got BFN on the 20th.

Hope that helps.

Unfortunately, some days ago I got a BPN and it was devastating...I am doing much better and I want to try again...I want my DH's and my dream to come true.

I would like to start right away since I am already into this and I already know how the whole process is. Do you know which are the advantages and disadvantages of starting right away? Do you know why some doctors recommend to wait for a few months before another IVF?

Which is the IVF with the short protocol? does it skip the contraceptive pills? does it increase the rate of success?

Thank you and I wish the best to all of you.

I think it depends on your clinic. Mine asks for 3 AF's. They wont do it before even if you ask. I think waiting is a pain, but it is a big thing for your body so it might be worth it giving your body a break...

For the question about the short protocol:
I have been on 1 cycle short and 2 longs. Obviously I found the short so much easier (I had about 9 days of stims and that was it for the whole treatment) with the long you have to downregg (i did not have to take the pill...) then stimulates etc...

It is not about getting more chances to get pregnant or not. It is about how you react to the treatment. If you start with a short protocol and dont manage to get many eggs, maybe your doc will suggest to try a long one. My doc started me on the short because I was 23 and the problem come from my hubby. I changed clinic after that , and I was twice on the long treatment.

Well hope it helps

usma: dnk if you are still looking... but your thread caught my eye. My first failed IVF was in Sept-- no embies grew to blast. Thought i would have to wait a few months, but was able to stim again 2 wks later. my RE says no evidence any problem doing cycle after cycle (as long as physically you feel well, no cysts, hormone levels are suppressed and emotionally ready). I had 2 blasts to ET this time (mid grade and just received my BFN a few days ago. Wanted to start again ASAP--- RE says no problem w/ me stimming again next wk. Yea!!!! Sounds like clinics vary widely on their recommendations, but as i had sl. better results on my #2 IVF, i am not worried about stimming again.
