Periods after OHSS

Hi Girls,

I was wondering whether anyone can shed some light with regards to getting periods after OHSS.

On my second IVF attempt, I got OHSS and as part of the treatment they gave my Cyclogest to get my hormonal balance back to normal (I think). I got my period shortly after this. I have 8 embryos in storage.

Since then, I have been waiting for my period so that I can have my FET. I have not got my period for 3 months now. I was wondering if anyone of you had a similar experience ?

I am really scared and worried now. My Doc has suggested that I start of medication to force the period, but I feel I am interfering my body too much esp after I had an awful time with the OHSS.

Sita,
I've not suffered thru OHSS, but unless you are pregnant, i would feel its ok to induce one's period- maybe some hormone somewhere needs to be released.plus i would also personally want to start off my FET..

Lovely to see you are still contributing to this site even after your baby was born. How is the little one ? I am sure she must be growing really fast.

Yes, I am anxious and waiting to start my FET Cycle. My mother has come over now to support me. I am hoping that it goes well. I am hoping to start the medication that will induce my period this saturday.

Please pray for me my dear. I get emotional when I think how long it is taking. I just finished my 6th wedding anniversary and I can see the questions on people's faces. I pretend to be strong but quietly break down when I am alone.

Hi Sita,

I have been following ur posts. Just take it easy and relax as much as possible. For me periods always used to get delayed when I was too stressed and waiting desperately for it. I know it is frustrating. But as Smita has mentioned I think it is ok to take meds to get ur periods. And if possible go for Accupuncture when you are about to start FET. I had 2 fresh failed IVF cycles but had success on my first FET(Idid Accu). I am 23 wks now. So there is a high chance for you.

I'll keep you in my prayers, dont you worry- I have a good feeling about this cycle of yours.I'm glad your mom is there for support.
And I have been married 9 years next month- I remember how I felt each year(though i started ttc only 3 years into my marriage)
I hope you get your dream sooooon.
And why dont you revive the asian girls thread? i liked to browse thru it!Wonder where Tina disappeared?

Thanks Smita...yeah 23 weeks.. time flies by....and we will be celebrating our 9th anniv next month too. Our journey of this has been from 2001 with no result whatsoever. So I guess for everything there is a time. Hope lil Dhruvaa is doing great:)

Sita you are much younger than I am and glad ur mom is there to help...u really need all the support during this journey....I also feel this might be the one for you...so hang in there and good luck again...dont even worry about what people think and say...only u know what you are going thru and you dont need to take that kind of stress at this point....I am saying since I have been thru all that and it is not worth it...

Thanks very much for the comforting words and the confidence boost. I will love to join you guys in the "successful after treament" thread someday. Hope it will be soon.

Pray, CONGRATULATIONS !! Pls make sure you look after yourself. I have been going for accupuncture for sometime. I have been going for 4 months now. It really helped me to be calm when I was having my 2nd cycle. Unfortunately I had OHSS and since then my periods are not regular. My accupuncturist has recommended herbs to regulate the period, but I thought it is best to stick to english medicine considering I have english medication for the IVF cycle.

For me, work has been extremely hectic and I am so stressed out at the moment. In a way, I am glad I did not have my period in Oct as it is a very hectic month. I have also had lots of personal committments to deal with... I really feel I need a break now to forget about work and now concentrate on having children. Some companies drill you into the ground and that is how I feel at the moment.

Smita, Yes I shall start the Asian thread again soon. I have been in touch with Chel and Tina. They are both fine. Chel is having twins and Tina has also been busy with work etc. Hopefully they should write again on the thread as well.
