Overseas travel in early pregnancy

Post by tamara355 »

Is extensive flying a factor for a very early IVF pregnancy? My husband plans a travel overseas, app 2-3 weeks after this embryo transfer; which entails app. 24 hours flying time with airport layovers, one way; stay of app. 3 weeks and return. I’m concerned about one more miscarriage because of the long trip. Any experience or advice?
Thank you, Tamara

Hello Tamara

I just arrived in Dubai, it was a 7 hour flight but It was a trip of approx 20 hours. Ok, so it is more tiring that usual but i am fine. I did ask my doc before and she said it was ok, only NOT to carry or lift my suitcase!

Hope it helps

It's up to your doc, but if you go, be sure to wear compression or support pantyhose and to get up and walk around at least once an hour. You are more prone to blod clot during pregnancy and the flight even greatens the risk.
