Hi moggy,
i feel for you im in the same boat but mine arent repairable i asked my Dr about having stints put in the fallopian tube same as they do to open veins filled by cheesecake and burgers he said it had been thought about but noone had done anything....he said a lot about the little hairs that carry the egg i said id rather have a slim chance if it working than none i think its a great idea i also get fluid in my tubes and thought well wouldnt that be like a water slide for the eggs??...LOL

i would go and ask i know when i had mine unblocked years ago they did it surgicaly which in itsself caused more scar tissue and now i think they actually blow the tubes open its supposed to be much more sucessful

wishing you luck

Hi girls,

I had my tubes operated on about 6 years ago due to scar and damage to tubes. They operated by laporoscopy. It was quite a severe op, they said things were worse than they excpected. the surgeon removed damage and cut away scar tissue, they also opened up my tubes - stretched them, whatever. They said the op was a sucess but it could cause more scar damage as operations usualy do .Anyway I am still trying to concieve so it obviously didn't work for me. I have now been told that the hydrosalpinx on my tubes is back so they are talking about totally removing tubes - I have read and been told by docs that this can massively improve my chances as the toxins from the tubes can leak into the womb and make it hostile for embies to implant. I suppose what I am trying to say is that they can operate ( not sure if your endrio will affect it though, I have heard that if it is so bad they don't like to mess ) anyway, even though op was a sucess at the time it didn't help and here I am now all these years on and 6 failed ivfs waiting to have tubes out - wish I had done it sooner. I would ask for all your options now and work out what is best for you.

hth,.
Good luck x

I had my tubes opened up by laparoscopy in Oct 2000. The blue dye went through. Then I ended up with an ectopic pregnancy in my right tube several months later (I was diagnosed and had emergency surgery on 9/10/01). Anyway the docs told my the scar tissue will usually come right back, which it did for me. For me, I won't waste my time with that again.

I don't have endo, so I'm not sure how things would work for you, but I had a special dye-xray done which showed that my tubes were badly blocked and filled with fluid.

I was 23 I think at the time and because I had lots of scar tissue as well I was told that the fluid in you're tubes can be embryo toxix and i was advised to have them removed.

It was a very hard thing for me to hear and come to terms with, but ultimately was the best news I could have had. When it came to a final decision there was no contest... continuous pain and possible failed attempts or the best chance I could give my babies...

I decided to have both of my fallopian tubes removed when I was 24, which obviously meant that I would not have any hope of concieving without IVF.... I recovered, and almost a year after I had my op I started my first cycle of IVF.

The choice to remove my tubes was so the best option, because I was lucky enough that the treatment worked, as I now have been blessed with twins - a boy and a girl  :D :D :D .

I can't speak for anyone else, but I felt that my choice to remove the problem just aided my treatment and helped us achieve the family that we wanted.

Good Luck with whatever choice you make.

Hey Nes

Congrats on your twins :D That's always been my dream... to have a boy and girl at the same time and be done.

I was just curious about what you said about the continuous pain and failed attempts. I usually have ALOT of pain during my AF. I have blocked tubes and alot of scar tissue. My doc said I didn't have alot of fluid though. Anyway, I know you're not a doc, but could my tubes be the cause of all of my pain? Did you have painful AFs before getting your tubes removed?

Thank you, L&C

In 2002 I was diagnosed with blocked tubes by HSG (the dye test). I have always had very painful periods and the doctors had guessed I had endo as well.

Fast forward to this year. In January I had a laporoscopy to clear my tubes and remove my endo. When the doctor got in there, he found very little endo - which he removed - and was able to clear my tubes by pushing dye through forcefully (much harder then he would've been able to do if I was awake). Since there was scar tissue found, no evidence of infection and little endo, the RE said I had probably been blocked (with "debris") since birth and gave me 6-9 months to conceive before my tubes probably reblocked.

I waited 6 months and when I was still not pregnant, we went back to the RE. During that time I still had painful periods....just as bad as before my lap. My RE recommended an IVF study that he is a part of...which helped us produce two blasts and I am now 5 weeks pregnant.
Me=32, DH=31
First IVF attempt (drug study),
Day 5 Transfer of 2 blasts
10/16=BFP!
11/13=TWINS!

I had really bad period pains since I was about 14. Sometimes they would be so bad that I would pass out.
I was told that I had Polycystic ovaries and that I didn't always ovulate properly every month, so that was probably what it was, as well as the blocked tubes....
