Hey Jeffer, I am sorry to see that it did not work out for you this time.
On my 2dn attempt I did not have any fertilisation. But the reason was clear, the sperm had not been frozen properly (it was coming from abroad) and it was the 2nd it was being defrost. So all the sperm were dead...
I hope they will find out why, and wish you the best for the future

thanks for your reply
so rry to here what you just said .... did they still count that as one go for you or were you lucky to get that one not counted....
Because I changed clinic between my first and my second attempt, the 2nd clinic could not be responsible for what the first did with the sperm...
DH had to have a 2nd testicular biopsy and I am happy it worked, because he will never do it a 3rd time!!

Hi there, sorry your recent cycle didn't go well....
My husband and I had a poor response on our first cycle, my eggs were good and is sperm count is normal, so we were pretty shocked, they said that they just didn't like each other!!! reassuring eh.... so second cycle we had icsi, that left us with a similiar fertilisaton rate also, just cost £1000 more!! (we had 4 embryos, 2 implanted, 2 frozen out of 16 1st time round & 14 eggs, 5 embryos,no frosties,2 implanted 2nd time round) so on this cycle we are having ICSI & assisted hatching (incase the poor fertilisation is due to the outer layer of my eggs being too hard)...I know this isn't the same as no response but I thought I would let you know that there is options out there!!!
Stay positive & good luck.

I'm in the exact same boat. I am going for a follow-up and plans for a second round this next week, but had a long conversation with my RE and have done a lot of research online. There are a combination of issues, but what we were told is that the eggs looked good, the sperm looked good, we performed ICSI, two eggs formed a second polar body but no second pronuclei, and the others didn't fertilize at all. They said it was an activation problem, and suspect that my husband's sperm have issues. After further research, I'm finding that it may have been poor protocol for my particular body. What they classify as a "mature" egg is the presence of a polar body. Just because an egg has a polar body does not necessarily make it mature. Also, there are technical issues that can take place in the lab or with the embyologists performance of the ICSI procedure. They could have injected the sperm into the wrong section of the egg, as there is no defining visible positioning to ensure they are injecting the sperm in the right part of the oocyte. There are also activation issues that can result from a lack of a chemical response to ICSI. Some sperm need to actually penetrate the egg wall to initiate the chemical reaction that begins the activation process. There are a ton of possibilities, but again, I suspect my eggs weren't fully mature. I have a ton of questions to pose to my RE, so he better be prepared, but there are a few websites with information on this subject that I've come across that you might find helpful. They are research studies so are a bit technical, but if you can read through the lines, you can come-up with some different possibilities. I could help more if you were able to find out what stage your eggs arrested in development. If a second polar body developed, or if a second pronuclei formed, if the DNA decondensed, if any stage of cellular division took place. We should stay in touch, because this is an odd response that I've found very little information on. PM me if you would like some of the websites or if you just want to talk on the subject. Okay?! Take care, and I do hope to hear from you. The RE's seem to be as unsure of what happened as we are, so if we can all put our heads together to figure something out, that would be great. Anyway, you have a good night, and I look forward to hearing from you...
