Hi -

I think I'd posted awhile back on this thread but thought I'd give an update...

First off - CONGRATULATIONS to all of you who made it this far. I think it's a scarey time for all of us and all I can say is that this board includes some of the most upbeat, supportive, encouraging and brave women!!!

I hate to throw any pessimism out into this space, but I seem to be some kind of unique case here - maybe somebody else has experienced something similar?

This was our first IVF attempt (I'm 40, my husband is 42). The doc transferred 5 embies of varyingly poor quality, but we got a BFP. My 1st HCG level was relatively low - 75 @ 11 days post 3 day transfer, but the numbers continued to rise nicely. I never got an HCG result that was within a normal range for my date, but my doc's been happy with them nonetheless.

Last Wed I was at 7 weeks gestation - time for our first sonogram. My HCG was at 22807, but instead of measuring in at 7 weeks, the embryo measured in at 6 weeks 1 day. I also noticed that the yolk sac seemed 3 or 4 times as large as any I've seen online (though my doc didn't say anything about it). The heartbeat, which we got to hear, was 115 beats per minute - slow for 7 weeks, but great for 6.

My doc was not reassuring. She said she couldn't tell us if there is a problem - that if the embryo shows a week's worth of growth next Wednesday it'll be good news.

Meanwhile, 2 days later, my pregnancy symptoms started to decrease. This is a big concern to me as my last pregnancy ended in a "missed miscarriage" at 9 weeks, which I discovered when I asked my previous doc to do a sonogram because I'd lost all pregnancy symptoms. I asked if we could move the sonogram up to Monday to make sure the heart is still beating, but my doctor said no and also said blood work would be a waste of time. The nurse (the only person I talked to) told me the doc said, "The pregnancy may end, but I won't know until the 15th". Wow. Thanks for support, doc.

Anyway - no spotting or bleeding and although I had some very sharp pains the day before the sonogram last week (all day), that's all stopped as well.

So, two questions for everybody:

Anybody gone through anything like this - where the embryo measures much smaller than anticipated following IVF - and had a successful outcome?

Anybody has multiple missed miscarriages?

Try not to worry! I could just be the baby took longer to implant that expected. Babies do things at their own pace! Staying calm is the most important thing right now. I am at the same point you are and I have also started to lose my pregnancy symptoms. I am not worried though because my other pregnancies, I never had any to begin with. The reason they wait the week is so they can compare the expected growth curve to your growth curve. As long as the curve is there, they will be able to confirm a late implantation. They are just doing their job. As far as the bloodwork, my RE says the same thing. They only did the two betas and as long as they doubled, the RE was happy. My bloodwork was low too. I think it was at 85 and then it went to 239. Every baby is different and we are just given the estimates. Relax and enjoy the symptom free period!

Nictor,

You are the exact opposite of me! I had 6 on my left and 2 on my right. If you have high FSH, that is considered a good response. I am wishing you luck on today's scan and BW. Do you about when you ER will be?

Thanks so much for the reassurance, Rachel. I've read a lot of your posts on this forum and you are so positive and upbeat! I'll send out lots of positive thoughts for all those of us in this sort of limbo period (guess you could think of that as being the whole first trimester!).

Hi girls

This is hell continually waiting for 17 yes 17 DAYS  .
Have been out a few times but i just like being at home just now and get a bit nervous when i'm out and about for to long incase something happens.

Have been feeling better today although tonight am getting a bit of a sore back and cant pray any harder for AF to stay away. At least another day is over and Friday is looking nearer. Will do the test then and Saturday if we get past Wed. On the 1st cycle it was 3days before the test that i bled so am really hoping i can get to Thur without problems.

Will catch up with you all tomorrow for your daily update

Love Jen x

txpacotaco-So sorry for your worries! But I do agree with Racheal in that growth curves are important but not totally required to follow that exact curve. Mother Nature does some different things sometimes. Also, my pregnancy symptoms come and go too. I can understand with your history that you will be so worried. It is so hard to just sit back and let everything happen-I have a really hard time with this myself! Anyway, I'm thinking of you and hoping your next scan goes really well!

Jen1d-So glad that you are still in the 2WW and that AF has not arrived yet! Only a couple more days! I can't wait to see your BFP!!

Nictor-Great news about your follies! I hope your ER/ET goes really well! Do you know when it will be yet?

Hope everyone else is doing well. This thread has gotten very quiet!! I'm doing pretty good myself-I still have cramping on and off but I have been assured that this is very normal for many women. I did have some great news on Friday-my clinic decided to keep me as an OB patient! They released me last week but I don't have a regular OBGYN as I have been going to the clinic for so long and they have taken care of my other issues as needed. Anyway, they usually only keep high risk pregnancies as OB patients but the nurse called me back and said that since I had been there so long and since I don't have another doctor, they do have a few openings on the OB side and I could have one!! I was pretty relieved actually-they know my whole history and I am so familiar with everyone there. Plus, they won't think I'm crazy for all my questions and worries! And I can have instant ultrasound access-they seem to love that thing!!

Take care all!

Hi ladies how are you all??

Jen1d..i know its bloody hard but try and just keep positive,i like you on each and every cycle have taken AF 3 days before testing,im sending you lots of PMA..

JenJ..im glad your clinic is keeping you on,as you say they know your history and im sure that helps.

Thook, thanks i havent been far,i do log on to check what your all up to,but right now im finding it uncomfortable to sit in one position for very long,i feel so bloated and full..

Anyway ladies, had my us/bw Mon,and they found another follie on my left ovary, then my clinic called to say that my blood results were excellent and that i couldnt wish for better,so im fairly excuted about that.Im back for more bw/us on Wed but as it stands my Er will be Fri with ET either Sun/Mon..Here comes another dreaded 2ww..

Just thought I'd give an update as just got back from my first scan. One beanie witha good heartbeat so thrilled. Came home with a photo of the blob and celebrated by throwing up twice, so that was nice.

JenJ- that's great news that your clinic is going to keep you as an OB patient. You must be so happy.... this way you don't have to worry about finding someone new.

Nictor- Sounds like your moving right along... please keep us posted as to what your scan shows tomorrow.

BecP- Great news about your little beanie... how exciting! However, sorry to hear that your celebrating consisted of throwing up... I'm having one of those days right now.

Question- has anyone experienced more symptoms once they stopped their PIO shots? The last two days have been horrible for me....

Just wanted to stop in and say hello! I have been lurking but haven't had time to post because work has been soooooooooooooooooooo busy.

TXPacotaco, you are in my prayers and I hope everything will go well for you. I have heard of several successful pregnancies that start out slow and often go over due date ;-)

Jen1d, I hope AF stays away and it is just normal spotting that many PG women get. I will say a prayer for you.

BecP- I am glad all went well with your scan and you seen the HB, that is a great milestone! I also hope you feel better soon. :-)

Nictor- sounds like things are going GREAT for you. I wish you the best of luck staying sane during the dreaded 2WW ;-)

JenJ, I hope as some point the worring ends for us! My symptoms have also decreased, but I do think some of that is because I stopped the shots. You are lucky your clinic will keep you as an OB patient!!!!

Thook- I really enjoy reading your posts :-) I am so happy everything is going well for you! I hope the sickness hasn't been too bad since stoping the shots!

As for me, same as everyone else in my shoes! Symptoms seem to come and go, I haven't had too much sickness but on the rare occassion. I worry on and off all the time, but I haven't had any more blood since I went to the ER a couple of weeks ago. I get to go to the OB orientation tommorrow. I hope to find out what my scheduled visits will be. :-) I seem to be getting really fat. I am not watching what I eat, but not eating any more, but I know our digestion process slows down. I hope to get a pregnancy exercise video after my 12 week mark. Everytime I think about going for a walk or doing some light exercises I think maybe I shouldn't because of this reason or that reason. :-)

Okay I have rambled enough!
Take care everyone and lots of baby dust too you ladies on the 2WW!

Well as we thought from the start, its a BFN

Had really bad pains in tum last night and bled this morning so did a hpt and its neg. Wasn't going to wait around for another 3 days hoping when i always knew it would turn out this way.

Can't stop crying and just feel so awful for my dh. Will have to discuss where we go from here as i can't take anymore heartache.

Thanks for being there for us girls and good luck to everyone
