Wow! pcosgirl, you are really on your way ... congratulation!!! What's the number?

Mine was not painful, just very uncomfortable. Was hospitalized for 3 days to monitor the bloating too. Ya, the swelling really stuck up to my ribcage and I always felt a sore when I wake up in the morning.

At this time, please make sure you drink fluid with sodium, like V8 juice, and gatorade. I really help. And eat food with high protein. It will be risky when your protein level drop. Not too much plain water if your blood pressure is good as the water will get retained in your tummy. If your blood pressure is high, then you will need lots of water to make sure you don't get a thick blood (which could be the case from OHSS and that will be dangerous).

I am sorry that I was missing for a few days ... was hospitalized for bleeding. But everything is OK now ... instead of 3 beanies, the scan shown 4  ... that's scary and very shocking to me and my DH. My doctor was shocked too as he never see 4 beanies in his more than 25 years of experience in IVF. The decision will be really though. I guess that's the reason why my number is so high and my all day morning sickness is so bad.

More OHSS

Post by pcosgirl »

Hey Ophee,
Today is my birthday and I am so swollen with the OHSS that it is hard to focus on anything positive except for the pain. They almost drained a 1/2 liter from me yesterday, but were hoping that this would go away on its own. So far I have gained 12lbs. in 6 days and I don't know how big my stomach is now. I look 5 months pregnant. It has pushed up under my ribs, which is why it hurts so much.

I am only 4 weeks pregnant and I am wondering if this reaction is due to twins. My d10pt beta was 200, four days earlier than they were going to test me. I go back in today so that they can determine whether to drain me and retest my beta levels.

Morning sickness has arrived as well, but I should really call it random sickness. It hits out of nowhere and feels like a blend of the flu and sensory overload. Hats off to all the women many years ago who had like 12 children.

Just read your response before I sent this and congratulations on four beanies. I am sure that you are scared/shocked and yes it does explain your high beta levels. Are they able to determine the healthiest or is it too soon? Has the bleeding stopped? You are in my prayers.

Thanks for all of the helpful info. about OHSS and what to eat/drink. It really is funny how much salt that I am ingesting in Gatorade, soup, crackers and how it doesn't swell me like it used to. Before the OHSS, eating a cup of soup would make my hands feel warm and swell. Now my rings are loose. Weird.

Glad you are home,
pcosgirl

pcosgirl, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

I know how uncomfortable it is with the OHSS ... I feel so sorry for you. Don't worry, it will go out of you way soon. Easier said then done, 1 day seems like a week now ... try not to think about it and have a good day with your DH to celebrate you birthday and you BFP!!! :)

Do you know you estrogen level before the EC? Mine was around 6500, which was in the safe zone ... and may be that's why my OHSS settled when I was only 5 weeks. We PCOS girl do have a higher chance of getting OHSS as it's too easy to over stimulate our ovaries. Mine are still big, around the size of a lemon (from the scan on Tuesday morning).

200 in 10dpt, that's at the high side ... with all the symptoms coming in so soon, I really have the feeling that you are carrying multiple. When is your scan? Oh! I can't wait to hear the result of your scan, so excited for you.

12 pounds in 6 days ... wow!! It's at the same speed as I did, but my stop at around 8 pounds and stay that way for quite a few days. I wish your will go away as soon as mine did. Am glad to know that you swelling doesn't continue as it did ... after you stop gaining, it will stay this way for a few days, and then go away. Hang in there!!

Even though you are going through all this hard days ... but there are all good sign of a strong and healthy pregancy. Lots of baby dust to you. :P

Thanks so much

Thanks for the support with the BFP. Sometimes I need a good reminder to keep my focus on our goal....a baby, not a model's body. I too was wondering about multiples because my d14pt beta was over 1000.

The doctors did take 1/2 liter of fluid on Friday, but it came back within a couple of hours. The swelling seems to have stopped and my hemoglobin levels are dropping. I don't know the estrogen count, but they did say it was high.

Thanks again for all of the help, support, and insight. It is so difficult for me to explain OHSS to friends and family so it is delightful to chat with someone who "gets it!"

Scan is in 3 wks. Will keep you posted and baby dust to you as well!
Much love,

pcosgirl, that number for 14dpt is surely high. Can't wait till you see your beanie(s).

Draining normally doesn't help much as it always come back really quick. When you body found the room to retain the fluid, it will start retaining again, so it's normal. My doctor didn't do any draining for me because that's what was explained to me. :P

It's good news that it stops. You will see that it's going away soon. Hope your OHSS will be over as quickly as mine did.

Ya, it's so difficult to explain to others what this OHSS is about. None of them have any clue. It's always nice to find someone who share the same feeling. I am very happy that I can be sharing my experience with you.

Take very good care and let me know you scan in 3 weeks. :D

Cheers

Hey All

Post by pcosgirl »

The OHSS has finally subsided. I ended up gaining 15lbs. in less than a week and dropping the water weight the next week.

We go in next Wednesday to see if it's twins. I am excited, but don't want to get my hopes up.
