A question about ET

Post by Dolly »

Hi there, just a quick question... when I had my consultation they said that they would do ET 3 days after EC this time round (last time it was 2 days after). Isn't there more of a risk of them not surviving if you wait another day?

Has anyone else else had ET 3 days after EC and why would they want to wait another day?

I really hope someone can shed some light on this for me as it has been on my mind.

Thanks

Dolly

A question about ET

Post by luce »

Hi Dolly

I had a 2 day transfer on my first attempt, largely because I only had 3 embryos dividing, and the theory is that if there are none to 'choose' from, you may as well have them back inside you.

On my 2nd cycle I had 5 embryos dividing on day 2, so they decided to wait until day 3 to see which ones were the strongest.

I have just had my 3rd attempt and we're going for a 3 or maybe even a 5 day (blastocyst) transfer this time. Again, we have more embryos to choose from, so they want to see which are developing the best/strongest.

Have you asked your clinic why they want to wait for a 3 day transfer? It is quite common, so don't worry.

Good luck
Love
Luce
xxx

A question about ET

Hi Dolly,
We've had a number of tmt's and initially et was done on day 2 but the first tmt we had at another unit they did day 3 et - and there was quite a difference in the embryos they would have put back had it been a day 2 et compared to the day 3 et! Unfortunatley it didn't make any diffence to the outcome but I know a number of couples it has made a differnce for.
This last tmt we only had 2 embryos so there was no point hanging around for day 3 et so both were put back on day 2 - and fortunaltely 1 took. Am now 8weeks!
Good luck,
Di
