I am going through my first IVF cycle and had a transfer done last week. I managed to produced over 14 eggs which the doctors were pleased about but only one fertilised. I was very disappointed as I convinced myself that more would fertilise.
All the way through treatment I have responded well to the medication but am having bad side effects. I was due to return to work today but am not able to due to the abdominal pain and bloatedness which is causing alot of discomfort. I keep telling myself that it will be worthwhile. The waiting is hard but I have tried not to think too much about it. Although several people know I have had treatment there is no one whom at this stage I feel I can talk to who would understand.
I don't want to say too much and am just praying extra hard that I may be lucky. Good luck to you all as this whole experience has to be one of the hardest I have gone through apart from a bereavement. I wish you all luck and if anyone has any suggestions about the pain and bloatedness I would be grateful for some tips as I have contacted the clinic who don't seem too concerned but have told me to drink lots of water and take paracetamol.
Hey there and welcome. This forum has been a lifesaver for me - loads of positive women going through exactly the same thing. Try and keep positive it only takes one little egg to make a baby! I am not too sure about your symptoms but it sounds like OHSS which some of the girls have had. Feel free to come over to the November Girls thread, in the general forum there are over 40 of us who have undergone IVF this month and they are a wonderful bunch.
Good luck for the rest of your cycle

I had experienced first attempt of IVF and failured . I got my menstruation after had been waiting for 18 days.
I was shocked , depressed and angry , but my hubby has helped me so much , i am grateful for that .
I got a same symptoms as well , and it was really painfull. My doctor said that i could take pain killer ( panodil etc ) max 8 pills . And drink a lot of water . The pain is only temporary , don't worry .
You must be relax and take a rest after the transfer step , you must avoid to do hard work or exercise.
Stay home , read a book , watch TV , take a short walk ( 10 minutes ) , enjoy and calm down for a moment untill 18 days when we have to check with pregnancy test .
That's all my experience , and i have learned and understood that our body will work on natural which will decide at the end of IVF process.
There is no garanty for the result .
By the way , i am going to second attempt on 30th of nov .
