update, change tmt.

hi girls well been back to bourn today and was glad to get final blood test's over. had a really long chat with my doctor he could offer no reason why tmt did not work. well i have not been honest with you all. With my last tmt I used a donor(sperm) and we had ivf out of the 12 eggs we got 5 fertilized. I do not want to do any more tmt with all those drugs and they will not let me do fet on a natural cycle, of course it will cost £1500.00 plus drugs.Well i have decided to go back to the rosie where they can di for £375.00 per cycle.As i have a normal cycle and produce good grade eggs and we now know they can fertilize without icsi. Would love to hear from anyone who has had iui and it would be great to hear what you all think. from july ann

Hi July Ann............. You are a naughty girl as Nikola says!! In all serious though. our clinic dont offer NATURAL CYCLE ON FET anymore either.... Did your clinic say why you could not do natural cycle??? Its up to you but we are going to do another drugs assisted fet, its not as bad as full blown IVF drugs, only sniffing, tablets & pessaries, no needles!! The main issue is the cost.....its so unfair not being able to do natural cycle as the success rate is the same, only difference is about £600 in cost!! Your clinics FET sounds expensive, we have been quoted £1050 (which I assume includes drugs as not told otherwise) so £1500 plus drugs sounds excessive......Are you sure drugs are extra?? The main reason we are doing FET again is because embryos were fertilised with hubbys sperm(has low count/motility) but I understand in your case why you are considering IUI as its a lot cheaper & I assume less invasive.....(dont know much about this) I assume from what you say it will be DIUI...........(hope Im not being nosey but is there any chance you can do iui with hubbys sperm?assume not or you would have done ICSi) Anyway, Take care & stay positive You will be a mum one day & I personally dont think it matters if it is doner sperm because anyone can father a child but it takes someone special to be a "daddy" Speak soon, Sarah xx p.s-have you hidden those hpts yet?? p.p.s Im turning into Kat-look at all those brackets(sorry Kat-a bit of competition for you!)

Hi Julyann, there never does seem to be an answer to why it doesn't work does there? Have you got a date in mind for when you think you'll start IUI? I don't have any experience of it but wish you all the best - will watch out for your further postings! Take care, Di

Hi Julyann I have just had IUI with drugs basically clomid and low doses 75units of Gonal F. cycle is very simple you have a period as normal then they do a stimulation protocol with scans to judge follicle growth. Before ovulation my partner had to go and give his sample which is cleaned up etc then you go in. The procedure is a bit like going for a smear they inject the sperm inside and you wait 15/20 minutes. Very simple. The good thing is you don't have to wait between cycles. Hope this works for you. testing is done 14 days following injection. hope this helps Aly x

hi girls thanks for getting back to me. hb has really low sperm count and they do not swim. when we went for fet last time the 7 eggs did not make it past day 2, we feel that this could be what is going wrong. we went for the donor and still no pg,when i spoke to the doctor he said i'm sure i would get pg with a donor sperm. i did egg share last year and he could not tell me if the other lady got pg but he really thanked me from the other couple, so I feel it could of worked for them. If it did my eggs can get to pg but perhaps not with hb sperm. hope that all makes sence well i feel diui is the best thing for us to do, could not face another round of ivf. we are waiting to book in to start, it might be this year but we will have to see when af get's here. aly is this your first go, we are goiing to do diui on a natural cycle. sarah are tou going to have fet this year or wait. di great to hear from you hope are well. from july ann

Hi there July Ann I'm just undergoing my first diui treatment (OCB!!) been for my baseline scan today and all seems to be going well. My clinic does do an assisted cycle ( I think that's what you call it!!) I've been sniffing, will now inject for 12 days and then insemination. My dh has a daugther by diui and that has really helped me in the wholoe process, I always knew that this would be the only way for us to have children and we've been lucky enough to get agreeement from the HEFA (?) to use the same donor even though it has already reached it's goal of ten pregnancies - so we're really happy. It does take a lot of head room to come to terms with. I had an excellent book from the donor conception network and we've jsut had the kids version to tell my step daughter. Hope this helps, I've first hand knowlege that diui can produce a loving happy family and I wish you all the best. Do let me know if you want anymore info. Lisa x

Hi July Ann, Just wanted to say good luck with your future treatment. As you have proved your egg quality is good, then that is a big hurdle you have overcome and I am sure it is just a matter of time before things work out for you. Hope we might cycle together again in the new year, the option of meeting up is still open if you want to, I won't descriminate if you are not at Bourn. I'm away from there at the moment myself!!
