Testing for pregnancy

Post by Marycamp »

Hi Everyone

Just looking for a bit of advice, due to give sample in next Friday morning and will get result that day. Not looking forward to it as last time I was off work and cried all day. Will be at work this time and don't even want to phone them.

Did some people do pregnancy tests before they sent sample back in. I was a good girl last time and never did this but think I might this time so I can cry/rejoice in evening.....

How early did everyone test. I am now on day 5

Marycam

Testing for pregnancy

Hi Marycam

As everyone (especially July ann - the hpt expert!) knows, I detest hpts. I think they just add to everyones problems. If its -ve it could well be +ve and you end up being upset and you didn't need to and if its +ve you daren't believe it until you've had your official results.....so generally a pain in in the butt!

I waited last time and understand what you mean about being home alone when you find it hasn't worked, its not nice. Maybe being at work wouldn't be such a bad thing - and if you feel awful, just come home!

If you do want to do a hpt, I'm not sure how early you can test, but my fertility nurses advised me to test in the morning, because the most accurate reading is on urine that has been in the body for at least six hours. So an evening test could be inaccurate.

Good luck, I really hope you get a huge +++++++ve!!!

love nikola.x

Hi,
Just to add on from Nikola has said - the hpt can be unreliable and to be sure of the result needs to be done around day 16 post et. I did one on day 14 et and it was so faint I didn't believe it - but then retested on day 17 and got a very quick response!
Sending you lots of POSITIVE THOUGHTS,
Di
