Thanks. I was hoping that my clinic would have told me what the number might mean...and also if it was a possible twin situation?? But, was at work, in a quick situation, so didn't have a chance to ask.

Thanks for the info!!!

M'BA I don't know exactly what kind of information you need from HCG, but I will give you some, hope it is what you are looking for. HCG is a hormone produced by the placenta, it starts being released as soon as the baby implants and then it starts to increase up until the 2nd or 3rd month when it stabilizes. I is supposed to increase by duplicating its value every 48-72hs approximately. So if you had a number of 182 in your first Beta then the next one in 2-3 days should be around 360 or so.
I hope this info helps!!
My first Beta was 284, and I was thinking it might be twins but the nurse told me she would expect it even higher in twins, so we'll see.

Cinders good luck with whatever decision you make, it will be the right one!

IVF 2ww

Post by s0phie »

I had my ET on Nov 10. Have succombed to temptation and done 2 HPTs both of which were faintly positive but on Nov 20 did 500iu injection of pregnyl HCG so the test only leaves me more confused.

I am 41 this is my 3rd IVF my first at 36 resulted in my DD. My 2nd was a complete washout. 12 eggs 9 fertilised, 3 back none of the rest good enough to freeze. No pregnancy

This time I did better 16 eggs, 12 fertilised, 3 went back and 8 were frozen. Was hoping someone would reassure me by telling me 16 is good for my age and the more eggs you get the better your chances

S0phie: Are you kidding? 12 ferts is my dream!!! At 35 i haven't had more than 5 ferts at a time! My RE keeps telling me we just have to get my # up...that it is a #s game. The older we are, the more likely our eggs are chromosomally abnl (so far all of mine have been), so the higher the # retrieved, the more chance we will have viable embies. he keeps telling me the normal eggs are in there, and the more eggs he can retrieve, the better chance he has to get good ones. 12 ferts is fantastic, i would think you have really good odds. Good luck!!! When is your preg test? Everything crossed for you....

Hi Ladies

Sorry I haven't been posting, beem trying to keep v calm this time but have been keeping an eye on all of you.

Congrats to all the BFP's there are loads. to those with BFN's try not to give up hope.

Anyway we got a BFP on Monday, with HCG of 79 (9dpt, 2 blastocysts on day 5) :D :D So 8th time lucky for us!!!

We are over the moon but trying to remain realistic and calm as on my 5th attempt we got a positive but lost it just before the 7 week scan.

Our clinic do not re test your hcg unless your numbers look odd or if you are not feeling well so I just need to keep focused on the positive.

Our scan is 11th December so not too far away but far enough.

Happy Thanksgiving to you!

What's everyone doing today? I'm putting together a small meal for me, DH and DD. DH is working today so I'll spend this time with my daughter. I hope to pull the tree out tonight and start decorating. Tomorrow we are having a family dinner at my aunt's house.

QUESTION: What are you thankful for today?

Me? my health, my DH for being so caring and supportive. My DD for being the love of my live, the sweetest little girl that you would ever meet in this world. She is always positive, which helps to keep me positive. I'm also thankful for the clothes on my back, the food on my table and the roof over my head. It could be so different but God has been good to us. HE will lead us through our infertility struggles if we continue to trust in HIM.

Love ya gals!

Sophie, your numbers are great, I am 29 and I didn't have numbers as nice as yours so imagine!!!, regarding the HPT, you never know, mainly with a HCG shot so close, but lets keep the PMA and believe it will be a BFP, I am sending you lots of sticky baby dust your way!!!

Wendy, CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR BFP!!!!!!, that is amazing, you are an example to follow on how you never have to lose the faith!!, way to go girl!!!!!!!

Holly, good luck with your ET today, and welcome to the 2ww!!!, keep us posted!!

Jovigal, I liked your post about what you are thankful for today, I am not religious, but I know it has nothing to do with religion, so I will join in and say that of course what I am most thankful about is the posibility of being able to do this treatment, and even more having had a positive result, that is like heaven to me, I am also very thankful for the wonderful DH that I have, I wouldn't be able to do many things without him, and also for my family, they are so much more than anyone can ask for......Oh, I am almost in tears, I think I never really stopped to think all this wonderful things....Thank you Jovigal....

Now, changing subject, you will think I am the most stupid girl in town, but with all the excitement I forgot to ask the nurse to refill my progesterone supplies, now of course it is a long weekend, I have enough progesterone but I only have 2 needles left!!!!!!!!!! , do you know if I can buy needles without a prescription??, they will think I am a junkie... ...please help!!!!!!

Hi All,

I am afraid that I am here for a bit of a moan, I had my scan yesterday and I don't think things are looking good again!!!!!

I am on a really low stimming dose of 75mg and it seems that once again I have produced loads of follicles, none of them were big enough to be measured just lots of ++++ but I have to go back tomorrow for another scan!!

I am so scared, I really think that they are going to cancel me again and I don't know what I will do if they do!!

Does anyone know why this keeps happening? They said that my hormone level last time was higher than they had seen before and I am worried that will happen again! I am so confused and keep wondering if this will ever happen at all! I ask the people at the clinic but they keep saying that "everyone responds differently!" which of course I know but what are they going to do to make me respond the correct way?

I am so sorry to be so down when a lot is going on this board but you are the only people I can talk to who understand some of this stuff!!

I hope that everyone else is well, I do check the board everyday to keep check on everyones progress and I wish everyone the best of luck!

Take Care

CheekyMonkey - I am so sorry you aren't responding as planned, I dont really know what too say, something similiar happened to me 1st time round I had 100+ tiny follicles so they then upped the stims at the last minute and bam....I ended up with 14 very healthy eggs! It is so hard to predict how the ovaries will react, I can imagine you are fretting and panicking but please dont let it worry you to much at this stage....just keep praying and keep positive, I really hope that things will improve over the next couple of days, when is your planned ER? I have heard of some people that have to be stimmed for far longer than others, do not give in yet kiddo......IT IS DEFINITELY NOT OVER!!!!! you have to stay real strong and calm. I am thinking of you xxxx

Angellica - Thank you so much for your post, you are always around and know what to say when I start panicing!!
I know that it might seem that I am worrying far to early but with all my IUI's being cancelled and my first IVF being cancelled I don't seem to be filled with alot of hope! I just want to try and at least make it to EC & ET!!!
The woman who took my blood yesterday said that I might have to up my dose to 150mg but told me to wait till I had my blood results and then when I got my bloods back I was told to stay on 75mgs!!!!!
I am just worrying that my hormone level is already too high and that is why I can't up my dose!!!
I will just try and keep calm till my scan tommorow but something tells me I am in for another sleepless night!!
Thanks again for you thoughts, I hope that you get that BFP confirmed soon, you really deserve it after all you have been through!
