Aunty, AF came yesterday. I guess I should be asking more questions because I don't have any idea what the HSG is supposed to do. I guess I figured they would just explain as we go. On the sheet that they gave me it says that during the prep cycle (7-10 days) you have the HSG.
I fear I am getting more confused by the second. :(

Ok now first off i dont want to worry you at all....not for a second but i also dont want anything to happen call me over protective...
i just want to make sure they dont do what my clinic did ok....

i was at the stimming stage of my cycle last time when my clinic realised they had forgotten to do the HSG it was a big mess and an emotional pit...but i wont do anything without looking into it first and i couldnt get straight answers from my clinic so i got a second opinion ...this is what i know for a fact.

your's is the saline ultrasound that they do to make sure the womb is clear right?...it is fine to do this during a cycle providing it is NOT done during the the cycle when the lining is being primed for ET
if you are due an AF AFTER having it done then its fine
if you are not due an AF after having a saline ultrasound then its no good because the saline will compromise the lining ... i just want to make sure that you will get another AF after having it done.

hugs i dont want to worry you...love Aunty

OHHHHH Aunty, I'm breathing again!!!!! Yes, it''s the saline one and yes I'll be having another AF. I'm resting easy now, I'm a firm believer that a little worrying or a little scare is healthy! LOL. Aunty, I am so glad that I have you watching out for me and everyone else on here. We are truely blessed to have you.

Aunty...Is it just me, or does this seem odd to be doing the HSG at this stage in the game? I realize that it does give some idea if there are any uterine cavity abnormalities, but the primary reason they do this is to see if your fallopian tubes are clear. If Christine is doing IVF, that is irrelavent. Right? Also, the uterine issue is not conclusive, as they can't see all issues unless they do a laparoscopy. At least that's what me Dr. told me when I had my HSG when we were trying to figure out why we were having fertility issues. He said that the HSG looked fine for my tubes, but that it wasn't conclusive for my uterus, as there could be endo not able to be seen. Christine, Don't worry...If you have the HSG, there's no harm (as Aunty said) with af in between, but I just don't want you to have any procedures that aren't necessary in your current situation, or maybe there is another that is better suited for you and dh. Aunty...Can you explain so I understand..? Thanks!

oo Ok phew sorry i had to ask i would never let you do something that can cause a problem for your little ones....but you will get AF after so you will be fine....

Charity there are two types of HSG one is saline hysterosonogram this one is used to make sure there is no obvious problem in the womb like scar tissue and polyps that kind of thing one is a dye and an X-ray hysterosalpingogram that's used to check the condition of the tubes
it is a pain to get them done but i know my clinic require you have the saline one every year while undergoing treatment the X-ray one is usually a one off if a problem is found in the tubes and your right the best view they can get is a Lap but not always necessary if the other two find a problem first for IVF...

love to all Aunty

Hi Everyone.

So much is going on here. I am still very behind on trying to read what is going on with each of you. I have been kind of laying low, not really thinking about this process. I feel like I have been waiting forever! So my follow up appointment is on Wednesday and I am hoping that I can start soon. I am not sure how long they want to wait after my surgery, but I am really hoping it is not too long. Well I know this is a short one but I am at work and I hear my boss coming so I will write personals later.

Thanks Aunty...You're right...Do the least invasive first, then work your way up if there are signs of other issues. I can't believe they make you take one every year! I know my clinic wanted to see my films, and seemed to bring it up a few times during our consult, so they may require it also, but maybe it never came up since we already had one done...Christine...Love the comment of them being on the golf course. You know, with the weather as of late, and the cold weather coming, you might not be too far off!! Wish you luck hon. I have cervical stenosis, so they numbed my cervix before the procedure. I had the one with the iodine based solution, not saline, so not sure if that makes any difference. Anyway, it didn't hurt much at all. I was so worried and prepared for a lot of pain, and was so relieved when they told me it was over. I said, "that's it?!"...I was really dizzy when I sat up though. I get dizzy sometimes, but that was really weird. The nurse there said it's common, but she didn't know why...So, just be careful not to get moving too fast afterwards. Also, because I was a little out of sorts, I forgot to ask some of the questions from the doctor that I had before hand, so if you have any questions, just write them down on a note to have on hand afterwards. I learned that the hard way at various steps of this journey. Another time to have a note is after the EC. You're still loopy from the anesthetic, and there were some crucial decisions that needed to be made then. So, just in case your clinic doesn't talk to you before hand about what you wanted to do with the eggs/sperm (i.e. IVF/ICSI or both, which ones at which stages of maturity did you want to do natural or ICSI, did you want to incubate any of non-fully matured eggs, if they perform rescue ICSI, when to expect a phone call and from whom, etc...), just make sure you have discussed with dh all the different possible outcomes, so he can advise when you get to that stage if you're not up to it. Our RE misunderstood us and didn't do natural with the eggs we wanted (maturity stage), so we are now not knowing if his little guys can work on their own. We're not doing ICSI this time, so that's sort of crucial information for us. Just trying to give you heads up in areas that if I could go back and change, I would. Not trying to scare you or anything. Your clinic might be more organized and may be taking care of all of this before hand. Just trying to take care of you sweetie...This is your first cycle, right? If it's not, then you can ignore everything I just wrote, cause you already know what's up, doc... Let us know what the clinic has to say when they call you back...If they call you back!

hey ladies

get ready for a long one....i've been trying to catch up and cant believe how many posts there have been over the weekend!! had a friend to stay so have not been able to come on here...so i've caught up some of it at work today and the rest tonight while DH is in bed (he's not very well)..so here goes

bec - really glad your mom is recovering well. thats such good news. :D sorry to hear you havent been able to start stimming coz of nasty nasty AF...where the hell is she?? boo to hear about the weight too. i'm really worried about putting loads of weight on now after reading everyone's post. but i guess i'll just have to get used to it soon! oh, and please dont kill your DH!! haha  you also made me laugh about your boobs.  if mine get bigger i'll be so happy!! :D

welsh - good to hear you're still with us and hope your new job is going well. so i guess its "cheeky-welsh-bugger-in-norther-ireland-as-fairy-god-mother"....loving it!!

tc - glad your "telling" the family went ok. i'm also really pleased for you that you have a plan now. that must feel much better! :D i've also had a look at your myspace...hope you didnt mind. and can i just say. you looked gorgeous!!!! (and still do i'm sure)...but no seriously, it looked lke you had a wonderful day and you looked stunning in your white dress.

macca - good luck with everything! :D

aunty - you made me laugh when you wrote that you refuse to give up on the 13th. who knows....also, whats 11DP3DT????? i also had a good giggle when you put on the list that on the 5th we're collecting the swimmers...hehe...

gbnut - i'm so excited that you've had the ET!!! :D :D i also looked into ARGC as it had brilliant stats..the best stats within the south east i believe...its so weird that the 2 clinics in london we looked in to were hammersmith (carolyn's clinic) and ARGC (yours)...oh i'm so excited!!!!

sassy and jordan - think you both started stimmimg/lupron - woohoo! go ladies!! sassy, thanks for the wellwishes about the 13th. also, the best of luck tomorrow, i'm sure everything will be fine. PMA, PMA, PMA!!!

charity - i think i wished you a happy birthday a day in advance and then didnt get a chance to actually wish you it on your day. so happy belated birthday! i loved the joke - i'm new to all this and would have thought the same!!! thats bad! i'm also really glad that you and nimble cant keep up!!

jackoa - big congrats!!!!!!!!!!! :D

carolyn - sorry i've not been up to speed. everything moved so fast all of a sudden for you that i've missed a lot of it. hope the trigger shot goes ok and the best of luck for the EC tomorrow. :D we'll all be thinking of you and even if you just write us a line to say "went well" - we have to hear from you!!! its so exciting!! woooohooooo!!!! if its a girl you'd better call it rainbow!!!! :D (only joking!)

bigwhitehappydog - so sorry to hear about your story and wish you werent here (in the nicest possible way) but the best of luck with your tmt!! :D

sok - glad trial transfer went ok...do we have that in the UK??? also really pleased that the in-laws were ok and that they are going to help with paying for it! thats brilliant!! :D

jem - how you doing hunny?? the assessment isn't for TESA...it's just a normal assessment to see what his swimmers are doing. its a bit silly (and i reckon about money!) as he's already had 2 tests and they came back with a very poor result. they were done locally so they now want to do the same test themselves...but they want to freeze it as they think his sperm is deterioating (how do you spell that??). but surely if its deterioating then the results arent going to come back good, do you know what i mean? anyway, never mind. they want an extra couple of hundred quid then fine!! :D

angie - i'm so excited you're in your 2ww too!!!! woohoo!!! take it easy!! oh i'm so excited!!! bring on those BFPs!!!!!! :D

mom - good to hear from you!! your "link" made me laugh. hope you get it sorted. i love being able to put a face to a name!!

fed - good luck on wednesday - the waiting is so horrible isnt it!! but we'll all love about this one day when we all have our triplets!!!

no news from me - went shopping last friday and got all of DH's pressies and my brothers'. so thats all good. apart from that, its cold and i'm working lots. will try and stay on top a bit more here from now on!! lol.

take care everyone - i'm so excited for our 2ww-ers!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOHOOOO!!!

bye for now

Charity, I have all the windows open today, this weather is crazy. I won't talk about it too much though cuz I'm sure Aunty will be jelious, do to the rain and cold she is getting!
DH and I were talking about all the decisions to be made, and making sure that we are on the same page so if these questions came up he'd be able to answer, however, I was just reminded that he is a MAN. The poor guy can't even remember where his keys are everyday! So writing it down is what I will do. You are so helpful, thank you.

hey lady's
Hi Shantala..im sorry i should have said.... 11DP3DT...or 11DP3DFT
11 Days post 3 Day Transfer...or 11 Days Post 3 Day Frozen Transfer
i like that so when we all get our BFP's its easier to compare our betas
so it will read something like
Gbnut Beta 240 11DP3DFT
Carolyn beta 245 12DP3DT
i have found after your beta your looking at what it could mean is it twins is it high enough ...lets face it we have spent so long worrying about it we need to carry on ...LOL... hope you didn't mind the swimmer thing wasn't sure what to put and didn't want your poor DH to get forgotten i truly feel you will get your 13th appointment:wink: don't forget to give hubby loads of caffeine swimmers will be dynamo's woooshhhh catch that sperm.... my DH reckons his come out with cape's on(of course supa tads) i think its more like hammocks we got told he has a lot they just arnt too keen on doing much...LOL

TC that's so sweet of you to think of me in my misery not a cold loving person at all but its kinda nice here today shhhh don't want to scare it away

Charity i agree about writing everything down to be honest im old hat at it now i ask way too much and isn't one person at my clinic that doesn't know i need to see the screen when im having a scan we have one nasty new Dr who moved the screen i told him move it back when you start scanning he said i like to see first i said well i don't so move it back...LOL (i don't think he likes me) i think because my Dr came in and moved the screen so Hubby could see too and i gave the other Dr a look (a bit smarmy but he's awful so its ok)ooo i hope he doesn't do my EC im in trouble...LOL

hi aunty - thanks for explaining that. it makes much more sense now! hehe...of course i didnt mind you putting the swimmers on...it made me laugh in fact!! i just hope it will be good enough as he's not well and i know that can affect it! :? he absolutely hates caffeine but has lots of tea so would that be ok?? i really hope you're right with the 13th. that would be so cool as it would mean that i would start downregging on or about the 27th dec...that would be so cool!! god, its so sad to think we all get excited about becoming pin cushions and having all sorts of stuff stuck inside us!!  (you did make me giggle about the hammock...my DH's are lazy and there arent many of them!!! lol)

Dory - the best of luck for the 1st!! please keep us posted and let us know as soon as you get a chance. lots and lots of sticky dust!! :D
