Advice for IVF DADDY (hopefully)

Post by Daddy24 »

Just joined. My wife has a first time IVF success and she is prego . We are both very happy but cautious at the same time trying to curve our enthusiasm as we know this process is a marathon. We have many hurdles to jump and we know this.

Now, :P although I am very supportive, I do enjoy feedback to help me get better at helping my wife emotionaly. Any tips for the very young (young in the process that is) IVF Dad?

Daddy: I think it is great that you are asking! Congrats on your pos beta! I myself have yet to have a pos beta, but i can tell you what my dh does that is helpful for me. As i am sure you are aware, your dw has serious hormones coursing through her veins. I know i am up, down, all over the place for no good reason... my husband has gotten very good at not taking personally the things i say when i am cycling. Even us 'even keel" girls get totally out of whack  . Just be patient, and do a lot of "yes, dear", etc. I don't want to give you any advice on if things go bad...that would be bad juju for you. So, if that happens, just come back and we will have more to say.

Good luck!!!

I am also new at this pregnant after IVF thing, it is such a wonderful feeling!!!. What I would suggest is that you pamper your wife a lot, that is what I love my hubby to do with me. I want him to treat me as a princess now LOL  (you know we only have 9 months to be able to request this, so we better do it... ), also, as Sassy said, she will be very emotional, so don't be upset if she gets mad at you for nothing, it is her hormones, also she may cry easier than before, but all that is normal...
Hope this helps and you can take care of your "princess"
