Hello ladies
I thought I would pop in and see how Carolyn's follie scans are going. I think I will barge into the DEC/JAN thread and wish you well there too..

Laura
That is great that you got to see the babies again.. They can do a ton by that time. You should pick up the pregnancy journal it tells you day by day what happens with babies. Its really neat and gives you places to write.. I found it at barnes and nobel.. Em I think you would like it too. Let me know if you cant find it.. The author is A. Christine Harris

For me not much is new.. yesteday was thanksgiving and I ate way too much. I think that is the biggest meal I have eaten in months so my belly hurt.. DH said "there is not enough room in there for food and the baby" I laid down and felt better once the over stuffed feeling went away..

love and hugs to all
Miss you
Jackie

Thank you for wishing me well ladies. Special thanks to Jackie for coming to find me on Dec-Jan thread.

Scan was very good. Highly informative lady which was v helpful. Lining at 10mm. That is what acu has been working on so he'll be pleased with that as above 8mm already for me. More than 20 follies with 3 that are already at 15mm. She was a little concerned that due to scarring that they may not be able to reach one side but was side with fewer on and she said that it may be ok. Seem to be reaching a good size whereas 1st scan on ivf #1 I had lots and lots of little follies. She felt that I was towards the top end of range so took bloods as well. Told me scan Monday, EC Wednesday and transfer on Friday.

Got call this afternoon from clinic. Heart stopped for a moment. Consultant had taken a look and they wanted to scan me Sunday instead so may all be a day sooner. Not altered ticker as will await scan on Sunday first.

Have found so much easier this time around - shorter protocol and think that acu has helped. Not sure that anything will make 2 ww any easier!

Laura - waving at you. That is so cute

Em - bet that you are scanning every single day - how exciting that all is going so well with your little uns

Jackie - sorry about your job but at least if the site is closing then you know that it is not related to pregnancy or anything that you could have done differently. At least the focus now is your little one

Dania - Hope that things are still very good for you & your bump

Vero - big hugs. Really wish that you & I were cycling together. Well we may be in 2007 anyway!

Have a busy weekend planned. We are going up to Oxford with a bunch of friends for a pre-Xmas dinner. We'll drive back v late tomorrow now that I have scan at 8.30am on Sunday. Gives me a good excuse not to drink. Then I am going to see The Killers (the band from Las Vegas) in concert on Sunday evening. Might have to take my trigger shot with me!!! Ha Ha. Going with a v good male friend as my dh thinks that they are too shouty! His words. God only knows what my mate will think when I rock up with needle in hand! Will take my mind of the week ahead for sure. Feel v relaxed about it all - just wonder how much longer I can keep in this state of mind for.

Have wonderful weekends.
Lots of Love

Carolyn- Wow, you really respond well to the stims! I can't believe you have over 20 follies already and 3 at 15mm. You are a much better responder than I am. It sounds like your ER will be early next week. I hope you are able to do a 5 day transfer. You will have so many embryos to choose from, it would be great if you could wait and choose the best. Are you going to transfer more than 2? I really think transfering 3 made a difference for me. I have a really good feeling about this cycle!

Jackie and Em- I don't know about you, but I'm hungry all the time. I keep eating but I haven't gained anything yet. My lower abdomen is rounder but my waist is about the same. My dr said I should gain 10 lbs by 20 weeks, so I have 10 weeks to gain 10 lbs. First time in my life anyone has told me to eat more!

I got a new car this week! DH's lease is up so we went to find a new car for him. While we were looking, I found a SUV I really liked. I had a two door car that wasn't going to work with carseats, so we traded it in for a Honda CRV. It's really cute! I now have an official Mommy-mobile.

Hope everyone is doing well and I'll check in on Sunday to see how your scan went Carolyn.

Hy Guys,

Man its hot over here! We just took Darcy-dog to the park and let him have a swim in the river.....I almost jumped in after him!

Carolyn - It all sounds like its going along excellantly! I think that bringing you in early is a great sign that things are really moving well. I can't believe you will be on your 2ww next week after all this waiting. You must be so excited! God I hope this is your time.

Laura - I hear you about the eating! I don't know if I'm starving or nauseaous half the time. Are your ovaries still huge? Mine are enormous. Congrats on your new car! When we moved back to Oz after the UK, we knew we were going to be trying for a family so we bought me an SUV? (we call it a "4 wheel drive") and I love it. I am only short, so I love having a big car that I sit higher in.

Jackie - I'll have a look for that book....it sounds great.

Vero - Hope you are well.

Ok. to hot to sit and type, time for a nanna-nap!

Laura - Thanks for checking in on me and giving you support. Means a lot. I am glad that I am responding well but it is quality as well as quantity and the worry at my age is that they are low quality due to my age. Have talked to my consultant about 3 back. He said no and I am happy with his decision. Law in UK is up to 2 for under 40 and at 40 you can legally put 3 back but no more. He says that I have only done 1 failed cycle, am only just 4-0 and also produced a good number of eggs. He feels that putting 3 back just increases the chance of triplets if the eggs are good but does not yield a better chance of 1 or 2. I trust him. Whilst dh and I would be thrilled with twins, triplets is a concern at my age and also with my auto immune disorder so we are happy to go with 2 back. If we do another couple of cycles that fail then we will push to have 3 back - just not yet for us. We are all decided and agreed on this point so the decision is already made.

We have also talked about 5 day. My clinic does 5 day but much prefer Day 2/3 transfers. Think that I said before their logic is that from 1 round of fresh ivf they figure they can get 1 Fresh + 2FET whereas if you go to blast then a lot of embryos that could be viable get lost. They believe that they get better stats from getting three tries from 1 fresh cycle than going to blast. I understand the logic. I am waiting to EC day to see where we are at. Especially if they cannot reach one side due to blood vessels (remembered that was what she showed me in way. not scarring). We will talk to the consultant on EC day about day transfer back. I can see pros & cons. The frosties from cycle 1 at age 39 certainly feel like they give us some insurance/back stop.

Em - wish it was hot & sunny here. Raining and miserable. Have heating on full blast to keep me & my follies nice and warm!

Feel so completely calm compared to cycle 1. Almost like it is not really happening. It is quite weird. 14 injections done. Tomorrow might be my last day!!?? It was over 40 injections last time. Feels a breeze in comparison. Don't feel as bloated either.

Have lovely weekends ladies. Will update you after tomorrow's scan when I guess I'll know when I am having EC.

Lots of Love

Carolyn- It's interesting how every clinic has their own philosophy and way of doing things. My doctor said that doing a 5 day transfer is better than a 3 day, as you will then only transfer those embryos that are strong and have a good chance to implant. He said if an embryo can't make it from 3 days to 5 days, then there is almost no chance that it would have implanted had it been transfered.

It sounds like your clinic has a completely different philosophy and feels that embryos that won't make it to 5 days would have a chance to implant if transfered. People get BFPs with 2, 3 and 5 day transfers, so I guess it really doesn't matter. Except the shorter the transfer time, the longer the dreaded 2ww!

I understand about not wanting to transfer 3 in case of triplets. I only transfered 3 because the quality was so bad. With all your eggs, I'm sure you will have 2 really great embryos to transfer.

P.S. I read back over my last few posts and it sort of sounded like I was trying to tell you how to do your cycle. I apologise if I came off that way. I know you are making the right decisions for you and your DH and don't need any backseat driving from me. I just really, really want you to get a BFP this time!

Em- I forgot it's summer down there! You'll have to stay inside with the air-conditioning once you start getting bigger. Nothing more uncomfortable than a hot, sweaty pregnant lady!

Yes, my ovaries are still big but they are slowly shrinking. The doctor said once I hit 12 weeks and the placenta takes over, the ovaries stop producing progesterone and then they will go back to their normal size.

Jackie and Vero- Hope you are both doing well!

Happy Sunday

Cannot write too much as have 'stolen' dh's pc as mine is on a go slow this weekend. And not sure how long before he will claim it back

Laura - no need to apologise. I just took it all as useful suggestions/input. I have read so much as well that have seen all the debates as numbers back and also days of transfer. There are so many pros and cons. You just have to way it all up and also listen to the experts. 5 day does shorten period to test after transfer but means that you have 5 days on pins post EC. So at the end of the day the 2ww is still there sadly - just split differently!!

So all is well. We did not get back from friends in Oxford until 1.30am last night. Yicks. But it was great to see so many of our mates who we have not seen for 18 months. Driving seemed to be good cover for the water drinking as nobody asked anything at all. Phew! Left dh in bed and went to clinic for 8.30am. Really nice dr. Clinic so quiet - only about 2 other ladies there compared to loads normally. They only see people who are at critical juncture on a Sunday. So have 4 follies that are over 17mm (they want at least 3) - couple are 19mm - and there are another 5 that are 16mm that should be fine. He deliberated lots as to whether one more day & scan tomorrow but then said let's go for it!

SO I AM ON. EC IS TUESDAY. BRING IT ON!

Funniest thing of all is that I need to do trigger shot at 10.30pm tonight. Will be at Killers concert. So will take injection to Brixton Academy with me and shoot up there. Told dr and nurse and they thought that it was hysterical. Was always going to happen. In cycle 1 I would have freaked and figured that I just could not go to the concert. This time I just figure that I'll peel down my troursers, shoot up and then carry on dancing.

Kept Wednesday and Friday free so was always going to be Tuesday and likely Thursday for ET!! Ha Ha

So will update my ticker. Seems to have got here very quickly for me after months of waiting.

Enjoy your weekends girls. I certainly am!!!

Lots of Love

Hello lovely ladies
Carolyn you are doing so very well.. You probably wont get this message till you get back but we will be looking for your post.. I was doing lots of reading when I had my IVF (3 day) and I read like you and Laura did. Lots of clincs do the IVF lots of ways.. From what I have read 3day and 5 days both work equally well. I cant wait for you to post your BFP.. I hope you are having fun at the concert (sticking yourself)

Laura
Congrats on the new car.. You will look wonderfull with the babies in your mommy mobile. I have a SUV and I am hoping to have it filled some day with all my babies.. I look forward to one car seat for now :D :D I have actually lost a few pounds. Nothing serious but my doc said some women tend to do that.

Em
OOH I am so jelous I wish it was hot here.. It actually nice for a Michgan winter but I am sure the white stuff is around the corner.. Oh how I miss Arizona.. How do you think Darcy-dog will do with the babies. Here they actually have classes to teach new parents how to help their pets adjust.. I have heard bring home baby smelling things so they get use to it.. I agree with Laura and your ovaries will be big until the placenta takes over. I started to feel relif but it was closer to 12-13 weeks..

Vero, Laura and Jackie

Thanks so much for all popping in to cheer me on. It really does mean a lot to me. I am very tired but hope that will make me sleep this evening & tomorrow too as they do the procedure!!!! just thought that I would pop in before I go to bed.

Feeling crampy today so will be glad to get it done tomorrow. Trying to think quality as well as quantity so that I will not be disappointed if less than the 13 that I got last time. I feel a lot less bloated so not sure that there will be as many as last time around.

I am so relaxed compared to last time. Loved the concert last night - my friend and I had such a great night out. Will never ever forget shooting up during the second encore as it hit 10.30pm!!! Well I wasn't about to move. No idea how I got through the searches & did not get stopped - I must have looked like one of the old, sensible ones!!! Ha Ha Ha

Will give you news tomorrow even if v brief.

Hugs to you all.

Hi Carolyn,

GOODLUCK for tomorrow (today????) I know that you are going to do well. I am so pleased that you are relaxed this cycle. That's how I was and look what happened! I could just see you at the Academy shooting up! I'm suprised they don't have sharps bins on hand at that place! Hope your night out was great fun and look forward to hearing your numbers tomorrow.

Thanks Em.

Well I am back home already. Will have to make it quick as dh may pack me off to bed to rest any moment.

Thank you all for your support and cheering me on.

Partial success for me. Was all going to well clearly. Sadly they could only reach the left side and not the right which had more follies. There were just too many blood vessels in the way and they tried but were too concerned about internal bleeding to go there. So first thing that I heard on coming round was that they only got to 1 side. Did manage to get 6 for me from the side that they could reach.

Was upset & a bit tearful when I first came out as seems such a waste of over 1/2 of my yield. Seems like my chances drop by 50% before we really start. Also puts end to plan to go to blast as now too risky which we were going to talk to embryologist about had we got c13 like last time. Dr did come to talk to me & dh and showed us pictures to better explain. However, I am relieved that there were able to get to one side and get 6 out. Could be worse I guess. Physically I feel nowhere near as sore as last time.

So we will be on a 2 day transfer - back Thursday. I'll be willing them on over the next 24/48 hours. We got 8 from 13 last time so hoping that we might get say 3/4 from 6.

Think that I'll go lie down for a bit as drugs starting to wear off now.

Sorry no personals but feeling like PMA has suddenly been crushed out of me.

Lots of Love to you all.

Carolyn....
I am glad you are going to rest.. Try to keep up the PMA honey.. Last time was a different cycle and yes you had more to start off with but you ended up with less. Now you have done the accu and kept more calm I bet the ones you got are even higher quality this time.. Remember it only takes one.. I know you were disapointed but you have done so well. You dont need all those eggies you only need your one little perfect one.. Just keep that in mind.. Put your feet up and we will all be praying for your little ones.. Let your body heal and just keep rubbing your belly to keep it nice and warm for your little ones to come back home..

Love and hugs to all

Carolyn,

I just posted on December/January, as I wasn't sure if you'd post in both places.

I'm so sorry to hear that they could only get half your eggs. I know it must be so disappointing.

We will all pray hard for the six they did get. I know they will grow nice and big and implant perfectly.

It's your turn for a BFP. Sending prayers, PMA and happy egg vibes your way.
