..grin I knew that would get ya to look

Hey I've got a question... since dear hubby and I started this whole IVF cycle in Sept and not I'm 9 weeks pregnant by the grace of God....

I'm afraid to have an orgasm or even have sex for that matter!

I know my doctor said it was safe but what are you thoughts on this?

Hey Lisa,

I asked the same thing last week i think...Until week 8, I was away from Dh so there was no problem, but now I am back with Dh and I was very aprehensive...

So we did have sex, although the sex part doesnt scare me, it is more the orgasm, because of the womb spasms... I have to say it was not the best sex ever, because I am too scared! I told DH I did not feel too good about it and wanted to wait for the 12 weeks scan to see if all is alright...
SO until then, I keep him happy ( do not make me explain in details!) and me, I dont care.

Well I dont know if it helps, because I seem to be as worried as you! I could not bring myself to ask my doctor (because I really did not like her) but if yours says it is alright... I know that after what we have been through, we do not want to take any chances or to make anything stupid. Just tell Dh how you feel about it, but if you feel like it and you can relax, i'd say go for it!

Take care

Sex is perfectly safe during pregnancy. You are only advised not to have sex in the first trimester if you have had a previous miscarriage. Some men don't like having sex while their parnters are pregnant. It can bring you closer together, I think it's a good thing.

In your second trimester a lot of women get quite frisky so if you don't enjoy it now or are afraid to now you can make up for it then!

Do what you feel you want to. No one will enjoy it if one of the parties aren't as keen. You can always just be nice to each other without penatrating or you having an orgasm. I do feel we need it though, IVF is really tough for both of us and sometimes our DH's feel a bit out of it.

You don't have to report back! lol

Best of luck with your pregnancy

Jo

Thanks girls that really does make me feel a lot better... I was afraid it was only me!

And yes... Souris it's mostly the orgasm that scars me because of how tight everything gets down there!

Don't know how I would have made it through the past year without you all!

Just to let you know, during my last full term pregnancy, my husband and I enjoyed very  ##### sex. It was perhaps the best we had ever experienced. However, like you, we have abstained from sex since about a month before the ivf procedure and until last week, we had continued it. I do not go crazy and have it everyday, but about once a week I allow ourselves to have a romantic night. Now that may seem mild to all of you, but with a 10 year old and a 6 year old running around, we tend to have to make appointments  for our little escapades. My RE told us to just be gentle and enjoy our time. Of course, there are other forms of enjoyment and my husband and I do enjoy long lazy bubble baths together and simple things like that. Often we just lay on the couch and enjoy feeling each other. This is a time to keep each other content because once the baby is here, sex is very much an afterthought! Long after the diapers, feedings, two am wake-ups and work, you might remember to enjoy each other's company. Pregnancy is a wonderful time and a couple can explore their relationship during this time. Try to relax, and remember that normal women have sex throughout their pregnancy and do not even blink an eye.

I'm now 10 weeks along, and we've only had sex twice since I've gotten pregnant. First it was because I had OHSS and then because I've been constantly sick.

My concern is this....why did it hurt so much?! Is it because we haven't done it for so long or what? I couldn't believe how much it hurt....burned even. I had to soak in the tub afterwards. Is this pain normal?

Yes sex is fine during pregnancy, we were very active during mine, it just got harder towards the end when a massive belly was in the way.
It's after the baby is here that it becomes a problem, well, not so much a problem but trying to find the time.
So all i can say is make the most of it while you can because once bubs is here it just becomes a quickie in between feeding and naps

Make sure you ask your dr first. My doc does NOT want my hubby and I to have intercourse because I am carrying twins. I don't know if any other twin carrying moms have been told this by their dr, but I would find out just in case. Let me know if anyone else has been told of this advise. Thanks!

When I had my first scan last Fri, my doc told me no sex (orgasms) for 2-3 more weeks. :( I measured 6w1d then. He also told us to use condoms after that :( I guess he is very conservative. I'll get a second opinion from my gyno.
