Hi Ladies, happy Wednesday! How is everyone?

Lucy, well done on your test results. Glad to see all is well. Deciding on a name is a difficult job...I'm sure when the time comes you will be able to choose!

Rileydee, congrats on girl and scan. Have you decided on a name?

Rittie, I understand about feeling disconnected. After all the IVF monitoring etc....Our scans were the same as yours , at 13weeks and 20weeks...however we did have a midwife appointment inbetween these two scans when we heard the heartbeat. I have another midwife appointment on 15th Dec then an appointment with consultant on 16th Jan. So we are seeing someone roughly about once a month. I don't think we have any more scans though which is kind of disappointing. Sending you relaxing vibes.....when is your next scan?

Dione, how was your scan today? Hope all went well.

Michelle, how was your scan? Keep us posted.

Hello to all here, keep growing those bumps!
Hugs

Hello ladies!
Anna, my scan went well...thanks for asking! DH and DD came with me and DH and I were thrilled to learn that we are having two boys. DD is not so thrilled...
The boys are measuring perfect for their gestational age. They were moving and kicking about. It was so exciting and relieving to see them as I have been so worried. Now I finally feel like I can do some baby shopping since we are halfway there and they look good. Whew!
I really liked the dr that I saw yesterday. My ob is on maternity leave and I only met her once so I am changing to the new guy. He was very patient and kind and was full of information about twin pregnancy. Switching means a new state, new hospital and so forth, but his experience made me comfortable. AND he said that I'll get a scan every 3 weeks which will really help me through this process. I'm feeling so relieved today! The only bad (I guess) thing he had to say was that we should stop having sex. I bargained with him and he said that we can have another month...he says there is something in sperm that induces contractions not to mention the risk of orgasm inducing contractions. Anyone else been told this? I feel really bad for DH...no more sex until 6 weeks post-partum and who is having sex after bringing two newborns into the house? Not us, I'm sure. It's going to be a long winter/spring/summer.
My next scan is scheduled for 12/27.
Ladies, we are halfway there! Can you smell the dirty diapers in the air yet?

Hi Ladies,

Thank you so much for ampathising with my unease about the long distance between appointments. I'll be having my 20 week scan on 14th Dec, so its one and half weeks to go. I am very nervous about it as its been such a long time. I know I will be totally relieved once the scan is done and hopefully, like you girls, everything is looking good and the babies are growing well. So fingers crossed for me eh? My bump has grown so big over the last 2 weeks I hope thats a good sign. My next mid-wife appointment is on 19th Dec, I think we'll also be meeting the consultant Ob who hopefully will have something to do with the birth itself. I say this because the midwives we are seeing are in charge of antenatal only. So we won't know any of the staff for the birth or post-natal. Can't say I feel that hot about this arrangement but thats how National Health work around our area. I think from now on I'll have appointments every month so care should pick up. Has anyone looked into having their babies privately? It must cost loads of money huh? Hmmmm, why haven't i won Euromillions.... :-)

Lots of love
Rittie

Hi Anna, I have a couple of updates for your list. You can add that I am having a girl, and the other day I was told she is the size of a sweet potato! I guess my little plum is growing up

Congrats to you Dione on your boys! Any names yet? Don't you love how that is everyone's first question? As soon as you tell them what you are having they want to know the name.

Rittie, I have felt big too this past couple of weeks too. I read that the babies will double in size during the 16-19 week phase so I guess that is what is going on. Can't imagine what it would be like with 2 like you! I often wonder how I will handle the last month since I am already uncomfortable. Not much we can do though!

Hope everyone else is well. Looking forward to hearing your updates.

Hi to everyone -

I had my ultrasound and everything went well. Apparently the baby is measuring one week ahead so I am consoling myself and thinking that perhaps that is why I have gained 35 pounds already! I envy those of you who are still able to wear your normal clothes - I can't get my normal pants up above my knees! Anyhow, I had the scan a bit early (I am 19 weeks tomorrow) as I am moving from Washington, DC to Brazil on Thursday and wanted to get it done with the MDs that I have been seeing here. I agree that seeing the detail of the organs and all is very cool - and seeing the little penis sticking up so clearly was amusing as well! I did have one scary episode last week (Friday) where I found a glob of dark brown bloody mucus had been discharged (I know, ick!) and I became hysterical and ran to the doctor's office - apparently everything was fine but they were unable to offer my any kind of explanation of what it might have been? Anyone else ever hear of anything like this?

Hello everyone.

We received some terrible news on thursday. One of our babies had died @16 weeks. :(

It has been an emotional rollercoaster for me over the past few days. As if we haven't been through enough over the past few years with miscarriages and disappointing cycles.

My DH is very supportive....but very sad.

It was really hard because we had mixed emotions that day. Baby A is a girl and is doing well.

Please keep us, our daughter, and our angel in heaven in your prayers.

I know that baby is being loved by my grandma and mother-in-law in heaven.

Oh Michelle - I am so sorry. What a horrible disappointment and I am sure the emotional roller coaster has been unbelievable and will continue to be for a while. Your family is in my prayers.

Checking In

Post by Emmie »

Hi everyone,

It's been awhile because I've been out of state on business travel. My last trip until after the babies are born!

Michelle, I am so sorry to read of your loss. I'm currently in between scans--I had one at 13 weeks and my next will be at 17 weeks, and I'm terrified that something will happen to one of the twins between now and then. My thoughts are with you. Do the doctors have any idea about what happened?

My 13 week scan went well, but I had a scare that week because I had some brown discharge for one day. They said it was because Baby B's placenta is currently covering my cervix and that's normal at this point. Hopefully it will move. Hubby hasn't been getting any action because I'm so paranoid, and the docs actually said that it wasn't a bad idea to abstain.

While on business I had a cold and have been coughing up a storm. I'm so worried that all the violent coughing might have hurt the babies in some way, even though I know that's highly unlikely. It was pretty bad though.

I find out the sexes in 2 weeks exactly. I am nervous and so excited. I just want them to both be okay. I'm very attached to the idea of having twins and it will be a major loss if something goes wrong. Still, I will be thankful for whatever God gives me.

Emmie

Hi everyone, I hope you are enjoying your weekend. Emmie, I hope your cough is getting better!

I experienced some dizziness last week that wouldn't go away. On Friday I went to my midwife and they checked my blood for iron and urine for dehydration. Everything was ok, but my blood pressure had risen quite a bit in the last 2 weeks. They want me back on Tuesday to keep an eye on it.

While I was there she checked to hear the heartbeat. It was there, but there was an irregularity detected. She told me it was probably nothing but they sent me to do a level 2 ultrasound. They say everything is ok with the baby's development. The irregular heart rhythm is when the top part of the heart beats too early (premature atrial contraction). Sometimes this premature beat is transmitted to the bottom part of the heart; other times the communication between the top and bottom part of the heart is interrupted after a premature beat.

They say it is common and it usually works itself out before delivery. However I have to go in 2 times a week now to listen to the heartbeat because 1 in 100 babies will develop into something worse and her heart rate could go up dramatically and there could be heart failure.

Sorry this was so long! Things had been going so well and this was just a big deal to me. It kind of took me by surprise.

Has anyone every experienced anything like this?
