Hello ladies, I had ER this morning. It went pretty well. I woke up in the middle of retrieval for some reason. I could feel my follicles being plucked like grapes (not really a very pleasant feeling). I heard the RE ask how many and the nurse said 15 eggs, I then fell back to sleep. When I woke up again I was in recovery and thought we got 15 eggs. Turns out we got 18 eggs! :D It's just a matter of how many will go to blastocyst. I'll find out about feritilization tomorrow. Feeling really crampy right now, more crampy than last time. But otherwise OK.

Sassy, there was a Catherine in the WR this morning. But it was around 7:30, I thought you'd be in later. I was still sleepy and things wern't really clear anyway, I thought; "it couldn't be her". I only noticed her after she was called in. I saw your pics and she has a build like you! :o Your hair seems darker on your website though. Was it you? Good luck with your trigger shot tonight!

Cheeky, congrats on 24 eggs! That's a lot, really good considering how it started! :D

Sassy--Thanks for your .02 cents...I appreaciate them.

Mia--Great job. 18 is impressive! Rest now and let those ovaries take a break!

I called the doctor this morning to tell them I still hadn't started AF and they said I'd have to wait until next month for FET. Then, about an hour ago I went to the bathroom and of course AF was there! So I put in a panicked call to the doctor's begging to let me still do it this month---am now waiting for a call back. Got my fingers crossed because I usually have 35-40 days in between cycles, and I'd really hate to wait that long!!!!!!

Just got the word that I'm going to have to wait until next month for my frozen cycle because of Christmas. I got a little upset (hormones are my excuse) because I just don't want to have to wait another 35 days, so the nurse suggested I go on BC to speed up my cycle to just 21 days.

What do you guys think? Do you think the BC will hurt my chances of implantation? I'm sure they wouldn't suggest it if it was bad, right? I'm just so afraid of doing something wrong just because I can't wait.

Mia: Congrats! What a great # follies, looking forward to your fert #s. Bummer about waking up in the middle...that could not have been comfortable! :? . Hoping the cramping improves soon... your ovaries must be in shock after all those follies removed. Yep, probably was me you saw. I dropped by early for bw (about 7:30) since i was out and around, and then returned for my US. i looked but didn't see you, were you on your way out? I was wearing a reddish sweater. Anyway, get some rest and we will look forward to hearing how it goes!

Meg12: Sorry you can't start again right away. I was on bcp inbtwn #1 and #2 cycles, and remained on post-ET hormes btwn #2 and #3. As far as i know it didn't cause any problems...

Sorry no time for more personals right now, will check in later.

Good luck to everyone!!!!

Hopeful: 18 eggs...great!!!!!!!!!!! I had 18 too and was in a lot of pain. Good job!!!!!!!! That is a great number to start with!!!

Meg: Sorry you have to wait. I went on the pill for 3 weeks with Lupron added and got a BFP, so I don't think it will hurt at all. I think a lot of protocols start people on the pill. I was told the pill "calms your ovaries".

As for me, it's still hasn't sunk in.

meg,
21 days is much better than 35. :) I don't think the BCP will cause any problems. Lots of women take BCP before their cycle. I think you'll be fine.

noodle,
I have already taken 2 doses of tylenol. With my last cycle I didn't need any. I guess that's part of getting so many eggs. I'm glad though. We're hoping I get enough embies to do future FETs. It would be nice to get 2 or 3 kids out of this.

Sassy,
I did see you! I saw you when you sat down, but I was like, "naw, she's not 35, besides she said 9:00". :D I sat on the couch, you know, the one that looked like she really needed a cup of coffee. Gawd that was sooooo early for me. I'm always up pretty late cause DH usually gets home from work around midnight. I got up at 5:30 AM. I had about 5 hours of sleep. You went in early just for BW? Do you live near the clinic? I drive 40 min.

Mia - 18 eggs - wahoo! Great job! I cannot believe you woke up during the procedure and actually was able to go back to sleep - I probably would have flipped. You are a brave and strong lady! Keep us posted on how the next few days go. You're freezing, right? How long until they get to come home to you?

I'm really thrilled that you got such a great response!

Thanks Suzhan,
It was very surreal. I was very groggy, but I knew exactly what was going on. I kind of opened my eyes and I saw the anethesiologist (sp) looking me in the face, saying, "you're doing a really good job", next thing you know I back to sleep. He must have gave me a bit more juice right then. I can't believe some women do this awake! Not that it's extremely painful or anything, just very strange. Felt kind of like when you have a hair plucked out of your head. We are freezing all the embies. FET is supposed to be in Jan, but may wait til Feb. We're not sure yet.

Meg--I went on bcp's too and I got a BFN. But I think it had to do with other factors that going on bcp. Sorry they couldn't take you in earlier. That is a bummer, but at least you have Christmas to relax.

I have a question. To freeze embryos, do they have to be blasts? And how many blasts did most of you guys get? I only got one, but it was effected with a gene I didn't want, so they had to through it out. Just wondering. Thanks.

Rochelle--I don't think they have to be blasts, I had 9 eggs fertilize, all made it to day three, two were transfered in and the other 7 were all successfully frozen.

Thanks for all the advice on the bc--I can't make up my mind. My husband had a funny line. He said he thought we should just let my body "naturally" prepare itself for this cycle. Then he kind of paused and looked at me. We busted up laughing---I mean really, how much of this process is natural?

good morning everyone!

Meg- I have been put on BC in between all my cycles. and I agree, nothing about this seems natural, but so worth it if it works.

Mia- any news on fertilization? Hoping, hoping, hoping for you and your embies.

only 7 days 'til test day! Dh driving me nuts!

Mia: I only live about 5 min from the office, so i pop in early every once in a while when i have a later appt as occasionally they have my lab work back by the appt time. Yest i was anxious about my bw, and needed to grocery shop, so did bw, groceries and back for us. Clearly i wasn't paying very good attn :D . So sorry i missed mtg you face to face! How are you feeling? Looking forward to how many of your "boat load" of eggs fertilized!

Rochelle: they can freeze embryos both after fert, or at blast stage. Mine this cycle will all be frozen just after fert. Once they are all thawed, if i had more good quality than they can FET, they will be frozen again @ blast. (don't know if the survival rate after re-thaw @ blast stage is the same or lower).

Triggered last night @12:45. I had explained to dh that hcg releases the eggs from the side of the follies so they are floating free so RE can "pluck" them out. SOOOO, while injecting, dh insisted on singing Sting's chorus "Free, free, set them free'! :D heeheehee.

My best to everyone...
