Dear Madhusri, I don't have any advice for you as I am a first-timer to IVF. However, I send you hugs and good vibes. I am also on my 2ww and will test on 19 Dec, just like you. So "courage" as we say here in France, I shall keep you in my thoughts, especially when I go for my blood test on the 19th. And Sri, please try and keep your stress levels down. I read that stress can cause contractions. Try acupuncture both to relax and to create a more hospitable environment for eggs to develop, it has helped me a lot. Please read up on the German study that was done on acupuncture and pregnancy, that gave me a lot of hope. Here's one informational link: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/1933901.stm. My acupuncturist says to lie down in meditation and visualise yourself building a nest inside you, straw by straw. I'm doing as she says, don't know if its all mumbo-jumbo but no harm in trying everything possible and especially, if it helps keep stress levels at bay. Best of luck girls!

Hi Madhusri,

It's sad to know that only one embryo was fertilised and transferred. I wish you all the best for your test on 19th.

Meanwhile, I have some questions coming to my mind. Can you give more details about you and your journey to IVF? I am unable to understand why there were less number of follicles? Didn't the stimulation go well? Which part of the world are you from? Are you going to a good doctor who has had succes with IVF for long.

Don't mind my questions, I am just worried that you are going to the right place.

Lots of hugs. Keep us posted.

Hi Madhusri,

In most or all Svandinavian countries the REs usually transfer only 1 embryo only in certain cases REs use 2 embryos (ex age, failed IVFs). I also had 1 embryo tranfered. I wish you luck!

Hi Sri

Well looks like you, me and KB are all in a similar boat so to speak. I only had 5 retrieved myself. 2 are 'snuggling in' hopefully as we speak I test the day after you and KB. THe wait has been more tolerable thanks to the ladies on this site. I have no answers for you, but maybe Davesu's questions can lead to some answers for you.

Regardless, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Hello madhusri,

I'm about to start my first FIV cycle (AF just does not come... ack!) and I know exactly what you're going through; everything is new!

I just wanted to let you know that I agree with the visualization exercises; whatever image that works for you is good. It's empirically supported that women with breast cancer who use visualization for their tumor(s) have longer survival rates than those who don't.

Also, one my colleagues' wife went through IVF recently. She's in her late thirties or early forties. She was horribly disappointed because the doctors could only retrieve ONE egg! However, it produced a strong (grade A) embryo... and she's now due in March! As the nurses told her, it only takes one!

The fact that you only produced few eggs does not necessarily mean that your eggs are no good, not at all! It might be many things, ranging from the stress you went through with your first trial to the dosages they gave you. My doctor told me that, if my first cycle doesn't work, he'll take a really close look at the dosages he prescribed to see how he can adjust all that.

Hang in there sweetie, and keep us posted!

Sophie

First IVF 6 days post embryo transfer

Post by sat14 »

Hi girls, I am new here and boy am I glad I found you. I have been going through some kind of fertility treatment for the better part of one year now. I did five failed IUI cycles with Clomid and then Follistim. I started this cycle last month and now I am in the two week wait. I have had cramps since a few days after the embryo transfer. I had seven eggs retrieved but only three of them were mature for some reason. Needless to say I got the call that none of the eggs fertilized and then they did an rescue ICSI. They were able to fertilize two eggs and I had them transfered last monday. They were "fragmented and only 4-6 cells" at the time of transfer. I guess that is not the best quality... Anyway, I have been feeling like I am getting my period. I have been having strange cramps like pinching sensations and sometimes uterine contractions. I am worried that it is my uterus trying to expel those poor little embryos. Does anyone have any suggestions? My moods have been terrible and I have been stressed. Help!
