cmv antibodies tested positive...

Does anybody know about this cmv virus? My gyno looked at my test results from the in vitro clinic and told me I have antibodies in my blood. I was tested some time in July before I got pregnant. I read that if you get cmv while pregnant, it's very dangerous. The problem is that this virus stayes in your body forever once you had it and it can re-activate. My gyno didn't seem concerned but he retested me. That made me worry: if it's not a big deal, why retest me? Anyway, if anybody had that test done and tested positive for the antibodies, what did your doctor say? Please let me know.

I was tested for cytomegalo virus before starting IVF. It was negative but Dh was positive. The results shows that he has antibodies, but those antibodies shows that it was a past infection, not an infection he has now.

I think if you doc did not seem concern, it is because he doesnt think it can harm your baby...
But I understand you worries, you should give him a call and ask him why he had you retested, so your mind will be at peace,

I am sure you and your baby will be fine!

souris, thank you for your reply. My test showed that I didn't have active virus. I guess the doc just wanted to double check. I hope my second test will be good.
