I'm pretty confused..... I went to the doctor's for a second vaginal ultrasound after taking 5 days of clomid and a shot of repronex. The doctor said there was 3 mature eggs and that was great, but then said the clomid made the lining in my uterus thin. It was 5 1/2 mm and she said that wasn't great. After researching it that sounds terrible, so I'm really bummed . So I called the doctor's office and asked if I should even be doing insemination tomorrow. The nurse said definately that I might as well try. Has any of you ever known a pregnancy to sustain with 5 1/2 mm for the uterine lining?????? I'm wondering if the clomid thinned the lining of the uterus or if it was a pre-existing condition. The doctor said regardless, I'll have to go to all repronex shots and not take the clomid anymore because of this. If anyone has ANY input, I'de really appreciate it!!! Thanks sooo much!
Hey! the same thing happened to me the first time I did an IUI. We used clomid and the Dr. said my lining was very thin. He said clomid does that to some people, but he had seen people get pregnant with that lining before so we should give it a try. I didn't get pregnant. We switched to a drug called Femara for the next 2 IUI's. It was a pill just like the clomid and my lining was great both times. I still didn't get pregnant, but we learned that clomid just isn't what I should use. A lot of this is just trial and error. Which is costly and very frustrating! You have to try to see what your body works with and what it doens't work with. Good luck!
Hi Jenn all i can say is there is always a chance, clomid can have the effect of a thin lining on some women so mosy likley down to clomid and not your body
wishing you luck and hope to see your one of those ladys that does get pregnant you still have a few days to grow your lining before conception do they have you on patches or shots?

Thanks for the input. Do you recall what number your lining was? Is there anything they could give me to thicken the lining or is it too late since I'm being inseminated in the morning?? It's a very disappointing process, I've been so grouch too while taking that clomid, and the worst hot flashes!!! I guess all shots of repronex for me next month (terrified of needles)! I hope the lining is thin because of the clomid and not just because I have a thin lining..... We'll see! Thanks again for responding

Thanks for your well wishes ! I hope it is the clomid that thinned out the lining and not just me!!! I just dont understand why they wouldn't meausure the lining before putting me on clomid since it can thin the lining!! They had me on clomid and then one shot of a double dose of repronex. Do you think I still have time to thicken it before it's too late??

Like everyone else has said, clomid does apparently have the side effect of thinning the lining for some people or for folks who've used it for several cycles (with or without IUI). If you've been on clomid for a few cycles, it definitely could be that and it's pretty normal from what I understand. I don't know of anything that could thicken a lining overnight, since you say the IUI is tomorrow. Acupuncture has been said to improve lining, but I don't think any acupuncturist would say they could do it that quickly. I've already heard viagra can improve uterine lining but, again, I don't think it can work that fast. Your RE would probably have suggested something if it did, but it can't hurt to ask.
That said, women do have a wide range of lining's and still get pregnant, so try to keep positive thoughts! I wish you the best!
Hi Suzhan! Thanks for your reply. Well I've only had clomid for one cycle, so not sure if my uterine lining may have a problem they never knew about, now I'm kind of worried about that! Anyhow, I can't find any success stories on the numbers of the lining either way .... Thank you very much for the well wishes
honey what ever u dont fret over the lining, yes 5mm is thin but it's still got chance to thicken, apparently 1mm per day, Promegrante juice helps!!

Thanks for your reply. I'm hoping the lining will thicken. The doctor just sounded a little negative, then when I asked the day of the insemination if she could give me something to thicken it she non-chalantly said "nothing really works." So, I was kinda like, ok well I guess it's no big deal to her because she's not trying to get pregnant . Anyhow we went through with the insemination, so now we're just waiting.... She seems sure that it was the clomid that thinned the lining, I guess I'm not so sure. Thanks again for your input, any advice and shared experiences is soooooo appreciated!!!
Hi NickMark! It's tdcarrera again . I noticed you had 5 IUI's and your moving on to IVF. What do you think the problem is with the IUI's? It seems so text book, like how could it not work??? Just curious what your input is. Did they put you on clomid or repronex or anything and if so how did you do with the meds?? Thanks so much
