In lots of pain is this normal?

Post by katerrington »

Hi all. This is my first go of IVF. I have severe endometriosis and have had lots of surgery in the past. Had my egg retreival on thursday 7th December and transfered 2 embryos at grade 2 on the 9th December. Unfortuanetely only 4 fertilised and the other two werent good enough to be frozen. Everything had gone smoothly, apart from the last two days I have been convinced my period is coming. I have severe cramps and back ache although have had no spotting or bleeding..Been really tearful and my breasts are much bigger, veiner and are really sore.

Just wondering if anyone has experienced this and would mind giving me some feedback. Have my blood test on the 22nd December. So hopefully some good news. :D

Hello katerrington,

I would not completely trust the "period is coming" symptoms while in your 2ww. You're taking progesterone, and that only will provoke these kinds of symptoms. Likewise, the sore/veiny breasts, emotivity, could all be signs that you're pregnant, spotting or not. And the cramps, well... it could be your endemitriosis, or simply your uterus changing position to accomodate your embryo(s); it can create cramping in early pregnancy.

Hope that helps; if you're really worried you should call your clinic... keep us posted sweetie!

The breast swelling and veins are all good signs. It's not that uncommon to have cramping too after ET also. Your bodies been through a lot. But if the cramping is very painful or accompanied by a lot of bloating and you're gaining weight quickly, call your doctor just to check it out. Otherwise, your symptoms all sound normal and promising, so keep your fingers crossed! Best of luck on the 22nd - I hope you get a bfp!

Kater: I too was in severe pain after ER...very, very bad. I could barely walk. I am now 6 weeks preg, so don't worry. Some people get hyperstimulated and have a lot of pain...just make sure you have your dr. look at you if concerened...I had a lot of pain too and had an ultrasound and all was fine...I just had a lot of fluid from all the follicles. Also, one of my 1st symptoms was veiny bbs...good sign!! Good luck!
