Shawn,

I am actually experiancing the side effects from the BCP. I'm pretty sure that they vary based on the type; (I am on YAZ) I find that I have terrible nausea about 8 hours after I take it, I also have hot and cold flashes and headaches, not mention that my b@@bs hurt all the time.
Hang in there though. To help ease the side effects I find that a heating pad laid over my pelvis helps, also orange juice and soda crackers. The good thing about mood swings is that now you have a vaild excuse for them. Hey baby making isn't an easy process under the best circumstances, so I say give em hell!

Just remember that it's all worth it.

Got my results on Saturday! BFP! I didn't want to post until I had my second draw today to make sure the numbers are doubling. So far everything looks good! The nurse said she knew at my blood draw on Tuesday, but they don't like to say anything until the results of the second beta are in. So far, it doesn't feel real yet, hopefully everything will stick where it's supposed to!

Thanks so much for all the good thoughts! I feel bad staying for such a short time, but I will be checking in on everyone.

Congratulations Jaby!!!!! Wonderful News!

TC
I'm on Balziva ( a substitute for Ovcon). But it seems like we are having the same symptoms. I have to make sure I've eaten something or I'll feel like crap by bed time. And my B@@bs hurt like crazy also. They seem like they are getting worst daily...lol. Tonight I'm sleeping in a bra just to keep them under control...lol. I think DH is a little scared of me right now. He keeps conversation to a min. But he's tough... he can take it :) .

Meg12
Wow, I don't blame you for not doing the BCPs again. Sounds like they really didn't agree with you. Its good to hear from you guys. I actually didn't know that the BCPs were going to have any side effects and I thought I was going a little nuts.

Ange
I hope you're right and the 1st week is the worst. But if not I'm prepared for the worst. I'm sure the BCPs are just the beginning with all the other meds I'm lined up for.

OH JABY!! WONDERFUL NEWS - CONGRATS!!!!Wow, that brought happy tears to my eyes when I read the good news. Take care and keep us posted on the progress. And spread some of that lucky baby dust around for the rest of us.

Shawn - BCPs (Desogen) bloat me and take all my energy. My prescription is to take at bedtime. I think that is better because I don't have to deal with the yucky stomach stuff. They also prolong AF spotting.

Aunty - Time is getting closer for you. Hope you are doing good. Your charts are AWESOME. :D If it weren't for the charts I would have a hard time keeping up with all these wonderful ladies. Thanks.

TO ALL OF YOU - A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Ditto on the Cheetos!! I love them. Hurray to orange fingers!!

First of all...

CONGRATULATIONS JABY!!!!! I kept checking every day in hopes that I would find a post from you! That's AMAZING news! How do you feel physically? Mentally? THANKS for sharing the news with us and give us hope! :)

As for the rest of you, good morning! :P I hope you're in great shape and high spirits as the week draaaaags its feet towards Friday!

As for me, AF showed up, FINALLY, and strong enough to satisfy the Procrea nurses. I'll begin taking BCP tomorrow. I got the call from the clinic, and I'll start taking Lupron on Jan. 3rd till Jan 18th (blood test). Sixteen days! Then I'll start Puregon till Jan 23rd (blood test); hopefully, that means an ER for the 25th, but that's iffy of course.

I'm feeling better now, thanks to bec's nice encouragements, and thanks to my grandma's chocolate pudding recipe. In fact, it's so effective that I thought I'd share the recipe with you. Chocolate *is* a natural antidepressant after all; it acts on serotonine!

1 cup flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 pinch salt
3 tbsp butter
3 tbsp cocoa powder
1/2 cup milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
3/4 cups sugar

Mix these ingredients well. Pour in a greased rectangular pan and spread, but not too evenly.

SAUCE:
1 cup brown sugar
4 tbsp cocoa powder
2 cups boiling water

Mix the ingredients of the sauce until everything is dissolved and pour sauce carefully on the dough. It's okay if th sauce comes to about an inch of the rim of your baking pan; the cake will absorb it and you don't want your pudding to be dry. Bake in a 350F oven for 35 minutes. Please, do it justice and serve it lukewarm or hot. A big glass of milk is a must.

Sokru: you really made me laugh with your Cheetos! Of course they exist elsewhere! We have them in Canada! I'm personally more a fan of Miss Vickie's and Doritos... apparently, the stuff they use to make the powder stick to the chips is absolutely apalling... and its amount, too! ;) But I still lick each and every Doritos I eat all the same, lol! Glad you're hanging there! How long do you plan to stay on bed rest? Two days or more?

TC: I'm REALLY sorry that you have to deal with your insurance people. It's always annoying, plus you have to wait on the phone forever, and more often than not you're not talking to the right person, or the person you're talking to just won't make an effort... argh! I really hope you find a solution, and it's really touching that people here are willing to help you (I doubt my meds would be allowed through the US-Canada border...)

bec Again, thanks for lifting my spirits. I am a very strong person, I know it, but I just hate when I lose it that way, and my voice broke on the phone with the nurse and I hated it, especially given her annoyed tone. I'll definitely talk to my doctor about the Procrea calendar, though; I don't think it's fair that, just because your AF shows up on Tuesday instead of Monday, you automatically get 6 more days of Lupron, no matter what your medical condition is. It's Lupron roulette! I know it's there so the first blood test appointments are on certain days only, but come on... they're open 7 days a week and do most ERs on Sat. and Sun., I don't see what's the big problem.

And about acupuncture, well... I got phone numbers and I'll call. I'll make sure our insurance covers it before I do. The thing is... I mentioned it to my DH and he said he does not believe in it at all. He says there's no scientific background to it. I know there is, and I fwd him the studies I found for IVF... I'm frankly a bit surprised he's like that even after the studies I sent. :? They convinced me... He won't tell me not to do it, of course... but I don't know, it's too bad he does not believe. Do you think of any rational way I could try to convince him of acu's validity?

Ok, enough babbling!

Take care ladies! And have a great day! Today's my last private practice day before the Holidays (I work till Friday, but in other settings). Oooooh it will be good to take a break!

Sophie 8)
First IVF Dec. 06!
