I just found out a my 6wk2day ultrasound that I have 3 embroys that implanted. One is really small and will probably absorb. But, one twin had a heartbeat that was slow, and the other did not have one yet. I go back Tues for my 7 week scan. I heard that multiples sometimes take longer to develop overall. I was wondering if anyone could give me insight on what they saw on the 6 week scan vs. the 7 week scan.
cinders I can't really tell you about twins. But I have seen numerious times people on this board IF they see a heartbeat at 6 weeks it is slow and then really is at full strength on the 7 weeks scan. But often a HB is not seen on the 6 week scan but do on the 7 week scan. That is very common.
Cindy - Congrat's on the twins (well, right now, 3!) That's so cool. I'm so jealous you got to have your scan a week early.....I can't wait to get my scan next week!
Did Dr. S. give you the actual beats/minute? I had asked the sirm doctors and they had said it's possible to see a heartbeat at 6 weeks but also common not to see one until 7 weeks, so you probably just need another week.
Are you guys thrilled about twins? It's really exciting! This will be a long week ahead!
On my six week scan, we saw one baby and didn't get a heartbeat. At seven weeks, we saw two babies and heard both heartbeats. I'm sure you will get to hear the hearbeats next week. Six weeks is just a little too early, especially for twins.
We heard 2 x strong heartbeats at the 6.5 weeks scan. But we were warned before hand not to be dissappointed if they can't pick up the heart beat at that point. So, don't worry, its one of those everyone is different things again.
It gives me a bit of confidence when I read your notes.
I went for my 1scan yeaterday and the nurse found 1 sack and could not see a heartbeat. She has asked me to come again next Wed (27th Dec).
The nurse says that I am actually on week 7 ie. 5 weeks from the day of the FET + 2 for the period. She said that she expected the sack to be bigger at this stage. Is this how your week no. is also calcualted ? Please advise.
I went through a FET cycle and the Doc thinks it takes a bit longer for frozen embryos to develop.
Please also let me know if you know of anyone who had a similar experience.
Many thanks,
Sita

Suzhan: You are so funny..you know what? You're probably better to go at 7 weeks, because at 6, when you don't see the h/bs you start to worry. He didn't measure at all or measure the heartbeat. The biggest baby had a hb, but it was slow and he didn't even bother to measure. Before he did u/s he warned us that it was early and they may not see anything. Yes, I would be thrilled about twins!! I have to be honest, since this whole process began I have felt in my heart that I would have twins. I told my friends, my hubbie, etc. He's probably more prepared because I've talked so much about twins. It's weird, but everytime I thought of babies, I've thought of two. Dr. S. was very vague about everything...I did have a cyst and fluid still. He really wouldn't comment on the 3rd baby, but I could see it was really small compared to the other two. Not even close in size. THe nursues said I was probably spotting due to losing the 3rd. So, I have to wait some more and see what is going on with all. I just hope all is okay. Are you still going out of town? How are you feeling?
I know, it's a toss up - go in for an early scan to see what's happening, but then just have one more worry waiting for the hb to show up or just wait for another week, worrying instead about what's going on 'in there'....I'm stuck with the latter option no matter what, but I'm trying not to worry too much (better said than done, unfortunately.) If it is twins, we'll be thrilled but I'll be thrilled no matter what as long as the baby/babies are strong and healthy.
It sounds like you've told lots of friends and family already - I bet they're really excited. We haven't told any friends (which has made it really hard this time of year - I feel like such a heel because we've been dodging Christmas parties, etc.) Only our parents know and we'll probably keep it that way until we get further along.
I'm feeling loads better today - actually have gotten down a couple of small meals. Yesterday, I tried to choke down some food, but it wasn't too successful. I don't know why I feel so much better today, but I'm just enjoying it, because the past few days have been rough! We're leaving tomorrow or Saturday and will be back Tuesday....I can't wait until Wednesday, though!
Suzhan: Glad you are feeling better!!! Enjoy you Cmas and let's post next week our findings!! Good luck!!!!!! (PS: I think you're having twins You're numbers were higher than mine, and I have 3!!)
