Hi
I am really confused and somewhat dazed, just before Christmas I saw my IVF consultant as I was having terrible pains, shivering and bleeding so he agreed to fit me in early for a scan. When he scanned me we saw a sac with a little tiny something in it and also heard a heartbeat. I was in total shock as this was so unexpected. It has been my first attempt at IVF treatment after endometriosis, cysts, blighted ovum and a d&C and I did not expect a positive result at all.
I am confused though because I am still experiencing lower abdomen cramps and occasionally a stabbing pain in my vagina (sorry to be graphic) to me things do not feel right. The consultant told me he does not need to see me again and I must now chose my obstetrician but I am waiting till the new year. I can't understand what the pains are though and could this mean that at nearly 7 weeks it is possilble that I could miscarry and this is a warning?
I would be so grateful for any advice because I don't feel right and I don't know if I should stop worrying.
thank you so much
flowers
Flowers I too had similar pains, but they were frequently on one side or the other. I thought something was very wrong but it ended up being my ovaries that were causing a shooting pain. After my ovaries returned to normal size the pains stopped, but I did have them till about week 9. I have had spot bleeding throughout (even Christmas eve) but the shivering would concern me. If you had more than one embro replaced you may want to get a second opinion to rule out eptopic.
Hope everything is okay for you flowers. I had lots of pains at the start, kept expecting to bleed as I had so much sometimes. Before I even knew I was pregnant I woke up doubled over in agony with severe period type pains. everything worked out fine and hopefully it will for you too.
Its a good sign they saw the heartbeat I think.
Take it easy............just relax and look after yourself. let us know how it goes.
