Follicle question

Post by alyson »

I am confused about how many is the normal for follicles. How many have you ladies produced? I seem to only have 4. I was just wondering what everyone thinks about this. My doctor thought that I would be progressing better by now. If im understanding it right, there is usually only one egg in each follicle. So I guess im a little behind. Im just worried that they might cancel everything. Could someone please let me know what they think.

Thanks

Aly i think everyone responds differently to meds during IVF. Our clinic retrieved 26 follies and of those 25 were mature. I think it doesn't always matter how many you produce as long as they are good and mature. It only takes one to make that little miracle. Good luck. Bridget 17wks pg with our IVF miracle

My sister only produced 4. Only 2 were left on day 3 for transfer. She just received a BFP so that is a good sign.

How did you get on?
I only got three eggs - but they were immature and didn't fertilise.
Devestated but starting to feel better..
Where are you based? I'm in London - going to ARGC - so a bit broke now!
Still - had a lovely day today with DD and DH - lots a fun and a nice lunch always helps..
I think it sounds like my eggs are a bit crappy...too much partying in my 20's or just genetics...who knows?
Hope you are doing well

Well isnt that wierd! I only ended up with 2 eggs myself, that like you were not mature enough so they didnt fertilize either! I was pretty upset when I first heard the news. Getting better now and getting ready for my next cycle. I'm 30 years old, from Boston Massachusetts. My husband has a really bad sperm count and mobility so that is why we are having problem. I didnt think my eggs were going to stop us though.

Good Luck and take care.

Oh no, I am so sorry.
Christmas day was pretty miserable but slowly getting used to the situation. I thought I was OK but woke up feeling on the floor..
What has your doctor said about future tries in terms of egg quality?
One doctor I spoke to on the phone on the day I heard was quite pessimistic, but I am going to go in for a follow up appt. and try and get the facts before I decide what to do. I don't thnk I am ready to give up trying yet.
Anyway have a fab new year - I love Boston though have spent hours driving round completely lost because of those nightmare roadworks. have they finished yet?
take care

I thought that I was alright also, When Christmas day came around I felt lost. I had been ready to go for my transfer, and thought it would be a wonderful day.

As for my eggs... my nurse said that they thought the problem was they just didnt have me dosage of shots high enough. My second try at IVF will begin in a couple of weeks ( waiting for aunt flow ). So im trying to stay positive about it all.

And NO! the roadways in Boston are NOT done yet!!! I dont think they will ever finish.

Good luck to you and dont give up~!

Hey girls...
thought i would crash your thread... i have been where you guys are!!!

My #1 cycle, only 6 retrieved (4 mature), My #2 cycle (more aggressive standard protocol) only 7 retrieved (5 mature). my#3 cycle, RE changed to a modified version of "microdose lupron flare" and i ended up w/14 mature and 12 fertilized! I always had lots of antral follicles @ beginning of cycle, i just wasn't responding well. so, the reason i am telling you this, is poor response on one cycle does not mean you won't have a better result w/different protocol!

Good luck to you guys!!!

I'M PRAYING 2007 IS THE YEAR OF "FERTILIZATION!!!!" FOR ALL OF US!!!

I'M SO SHOCKED TO HEAR OF ALL THE LACK OF FERTILIZATION GOING ON....MY CLINIC IN "GREEN BAY, WI" HAS HAD VERY FEW OF THESE CASES (ME BEING ONE OF THEM). I AM ALSO NOW TRYING THE FLARE PROTOCAL...WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO REALLY MAKE THOSE OVARIES WORK AND PRODUCE SOME EGGS OF GOOD SIZE AND QUALITY......I'M REALLY WORRIED ABOUT THE OHSS PROBLEMS THOUGH. BUT THEN I GUESS WE'RE WORRIED ABOUT EVERYTHING, NOT REALLY JUST ONE THING HUH?
2 FAILED IUI'S
NOV. IVF 2006, CANCELLED NO FERTILIZATION
2ND IVF JAN. 2007, GOT BFP

After the failed fertilization my doctor did MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) screen culture of the vagina/vervix to check for unusual bacteria or source of endotoxin.
The result came just fine.
Now I've been waiting for the results of my DH's sperm analysts for MRSA and GBS.
