Hey Nicki - if all goes to plan with my cycle we'll be cycle buddies.. hoping we can celebrate a BFP together...

As for work, my job is office based but I've always taken 2 weeks off after EC, no time before really becuase my hours are quite flexible so I could nip out for blood work and scans etc... I took just one week off on one cycle.. I think as long as you give yourself a week after EC you'll be fine, try and rest as much as poss in that 1 week, but like Souris says if your job is quite physical then I'd take 2 weeks off...!!! Everyone is different, the advice we are always given is just to rest for a couple of days then resume to your normal living..... yes but we want to give ourselves the best possible chance don't we..?

I'm backa t work today - can't believe how quiet it is here...

Speak soon..

Lucy

Hi Phoenixes

Well it is all over.......! Never felt like Christmas to be honest - and I too am back at work today!!!

Nikki Souris & Lucy - so sorry to read you have had such a difficult time over crimbo xxx Hope you are feeling better and New Year is a better time for you. New Year new begginings and all that. Onwards and upwards I say. love to ya xx

Christmas was ok for me. I had a very emotional morning with lots of tears(behaving like a spoilt brat purely because I was soooo knackered). Got lots of nice pressies and DH was a gem, spoilt me rotten and I got the Radley handbag and purse I wanted. Not a label queen but I just had to have one!!!!

Was hard work generally as people kept on and on and on and on and on and on and on at me about having a drink!!!!! Told them I would if I wanted and was driving etc etc but I flipped a gasket yesterday as had just about enough. I said that if I lit up a cigarette (which I could still quite easily do!) they would go beserk so why should they think drinking is "A" ok! Got the usual looks of "isn't she moody"....I felt bad after as think showed myself up when I fled off in tears but wish they would cut me some slack and understand why I am short tempered some times. Still exhausted and could murder a vodka and 20 B&H!!

Hope everyone else ok and Christmas was good to you xxxxxxxx

Julie - Lovely to hear santa got you all the pressie's you wanted...! Good on you not having a drink, people shouldn't be on at you to have one, even if it is Xmas.. like you say don't think they'd be happy you lighting up a cig.... good on you with the no smoking too, I know its very hard, especially when feeling stressed out...!! How long is it now that you haven't had one for?? Don't be feeling bad and you certainly won't of made a fool of yourself, the others are the problem if they think you were "moody", they don't know what you're going through, we all get very emoitional...

Nicki - Too right, this is far more important than anything else. My hols don't start until April, I am doing cycle in March so how am I going to take 2 weeks off????????????? Don't really want to take unathorised sick leave, might go to my docs and see if they will do a "sick note" we should get time off for IVF I think.. Hope you're feeling better hun..

Souris - How you feeling hun?

Jen, Lisa, Gail, Kate, MLG, Smita - how are you all? Hope you've all had a lovely xmas...

MLG - Any news yet....????

I've just been with my sister for her 20 week scan, I am very pleased to say she is having a BOY... we both cried....

Speak soon all

Hi girls

Hope you are all well....I have a raging cough and am soooo tired!!

Nikki - I have told a chosen few at work about my treatment. Thought long and hard about it but when we were having investigations done a few years ago I didn't tell anyone, obviously, and it created a difficult atmosphere because of appointment time and the gossips were in full flow. Too stressful.....so decided them knowing would relieve the stress factor and save panicking about getting back to work. I have also told my closest friends (3) but live in regret some days as they rarely ask how I am and I feel like they don't care mostly. Know it is because they don't know what to say and have no idea what it is like but gets me down all the same. Are people aware of your situation? I too am taking my 2 ww off work. You sound a bit chirpier. Hope you are xx

Lucy - Stopped smoking (after a few failed attempts) on 18 May. I was prone to having one on a night out when I had had a few too many vodkas but haven't had a blast since September. I could still have one....had a mad morning at work and could of very easily of gone to the shop and bought some. Strange how the feeling never leaves you!!!!! Had a chip butty for lunch instead!!!!!! As for the 2 ww you should go to Dr and get signed off for stress...I am considering it......and it isn't a lie so why not!! Also hope you are feeling a bit more chipper xx

Hope all the rest of you are fit and well. Can't wait to hear how your break went LIS, and how all your Crimbo's went. Take care xxxxx

Merry Christmas to all phoenixes!! I have finally managed to log on after a very hectic (but good) 2 weeks.

Nikki,Souris and Lucy - I hope you are all feeling abit chirpier now and I feel for you all having not had the best of Christmases - but it helps knowing we are all hre supporting each other. Massive hugs to you all xxxxx

Julie - what a bummer having to down reg for an extra week but as Jen said its only a minor set back. I know it must be hard with the drink thing, I love my wine and whenever i'm not drinking friends always start to get suspicious and like you, I sometimes feel just saying something relieves some of the pressure and tension you feel. Hugs doll xxx

Jen - aslo sorry to hear you've not been having the best time but sounds like you'll feel tonnes better after all the time with your friends. I usually feel loads better after visits from good friends etc. Ypu had me in stitches with the S & M comment and all the stuff about Broc  PS I come from Ayr too - small world huh! xx

Any news MLG?? xx

Well firstly my appt at Nuffield was very uneventful. A 90 minute drive in rush hour for a 20 min consultation! Basically at the mo they just about have enough donor sperm for ivf so I should be able to have ivf there if the next 4 DI's don't work. Have to come back and see the nurse to do paperwork etc and only then am I on waiting list. Can't get appt til 31st Jan!!

Stobo Castle was fab! Had a mud wrap tmt with an indian head and leg masage thrown in and a luxury manicure too. Totally chilled out in all the different steam rooms, jacuzzi and pool and have lovely food ..... and wine! When I came home the next afternoon I was so relaxed I fell asleep on the couch at 4 pm then that night I had the best night's sleep I've had in a very very long time. Jen you will love it - everyone goes for breakfast in their bath robes, its great :D

Well my mum just left after 6 days here. We had such a lovely time - went to a carol concert, went shopping, walks and to the Christmas german market on Christmas Eve and had mulled wine. Dh has been working loads so its mainly just been me and mum. Today when she left I cried ... don't know where it all came from, even now I keep welling up. The house feels really empty now :( I'm off til 4th Jan so luckily have 6 more days to chill. I never take time off but this year thought, sod it since I've had a rubbish 6 months with all the BFN's. Af came on Christmas day so should be having insem on 6th, 7th, 8th Jan. Have decided on using up 2 ampules of sperm this time so will have 2 insems on consecutive days. Then another 3 tmt aftr that which will take me to April and if all BFN will be ready for donor IVF in MAy/June in Glasgow. LIke you Nicky I am starting to wonder if I have unexplained infertility

Well I'm off to the cinema this afternoon with my friend and her 7 yr old (who is my god son's sister - godson too young for cinema as only 18mths old). We were going to go ice skating but as its an outdoor rink its too cold and wet so going to see Night at the Museum instead.

What's everyone doing for New Year??

Love to all and sorry for mamoth post :D !!

Hi Lis

Nice to hear from you and I am so glad you enjoyed your break. Sounds similar to the girly break I have. Glad it went well and was the break you needed. Sounds like you have enjoyed your Christmas with your mum too. I spend a lot of time on my own pre xmas/xmas week as my DH works daft hours and is his busiest time.

Sorry that the appointment wasn't as successful as you hoped - all this is such a drag but 2007 is going to be our year!!!!

Enjoy your afternoon at the flicks and take care  xxx

JEN - Sounds like you are as busy and life is as hectic as ever!! Christmas just isn't the same is it but will be when we have our babies xx Enjoy your visitors and remember to take some time out for yourself and chill xx

NIKKI SOURIS LUCY - Hope you are all feeling better - hugs to ya.

MLG - Hope you and your bundle of joy are happy and healthy x

Won't be posting now til Tuesday when back in work as no computer at home so hav a fab weekend and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!! xxxx

Hi Phoenixes

Julie - I too must admit I smoked and still have the odd one.. I can't seem to help it.. TOO STRESSED....!!! But come 1st 2007 i won't have one, thats a promise... as starting next cycle in 3 months..
Last year I was off work 2 months with stress after my miscarriage and don't really want to go off with stress again, even though I wouldn't be lying... I'll see though.! What you doing tomorrow night, anything nice.???

Jen - Sorry you were feeling a bit down too over xmas.. poor adam being poorly, hope he's feeling better..? Enjoy your time with your visitors and have a wonderful new years eve and all the very best for 2007..!

Lis - Sorry your appt at Nuffield didn't go too great. Your spa break sounds Idyllic, not surprised you slept, must of done you the world of good.. uummm I can just imagine how relaxing it must of been.. Bet it was lovely spenifn time with your mum, sad when they go home isn't it, haven't seen my mum over xmas but she did come over on 8th Dec so that was nice.. miss her so much, its hard when mums aren't around isn't it.???

Souris - Glad you had a good time at the aqua park.. great news that you can start your next cycle on next AF, I've always had to wait 3 months in between cycles... fingers crossed your levels are OK, sure they will be... 2007 is going to bring us all luck.. xx

I've got my follow up appt on 24th Jan, will discuss my next cycle, if alls OK I'll be going ahead in March.. can't wait to be honest with you..

HI GIRLS!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
Lisa, your health spa sounded cool!!! I am going to have a body wrap in Jan, to de-tox, also plan to start the detox diet that zita mentions in her book. Lisa, i have been speaking to someone who had iui in Essex, on the nhs and they said it's not that great, as they take short cuts, and dont do bloods and scans on w/ends so if your cycle falls on sat/sun u wait another month, the same if you surge with LH on sat/sun, u have to wait, thats bad huh???
In suffolk I cant have iui on nhs, Its terrable that the nhs are like this depending on your post-code....
I am on nhs list for ivf now, 30mths to wait- (jun 09!!! yikes!!!)
So we are going for private IVF, this will be March....But honey by that time u will be preggers, and wont have to worry about it!!

Lucy, we will be Buddies, you will haveto help me though this IVF, being as this is first time for me, I am scared. Excited too!! but scared, my mum is coming down to help out so i can totally chill out, and i will take time off work, I dont care about work, this is more important!!
Will u down reg in Feb?? when is your AF due?? I just wondered how close we were in cycles, I have roughly worked out EC will be 23March.
souris, what were your levels like?? Did u get results?? When is your nxt AF due then?? will u down reg first?? I heard some IVF cycles dont down reg before? why?? I dont understand that???
Jen , you also sound like you will be glad to see the back end of 2006, and you have so much to look fwd to in 07, what with the wedding and the IVF in the summer!!!

MLG, I am assuming you have had the babe!!! Hope ya doing well. x x

Gail, honey how are you??? 3 mths to go right???

Julie, how are you my dear, whats happening with you??? Hope this cycles going all to plan!! Hope u manage NYE with no drink ok x x

Big hello to anyone ive missed, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! may 07 bring, babies for us all x x

Nicki of course I'll support you through your first IVF, I'm no expert but this being my 5th cycle I feel I know a lot about it, what to expect etc, if you have any questions just ask, I had loads before my 1st go and sometimes felt a bit silly asking fertility nurses so relied on this forum... don't know what I'd of done without the support of you lot of here.. so please just ask......

I don't down reg, my cycles are what you call 'Flare cycle' I start stims on day 2 of AF... I've worked out my dates and I'll be a bit behind you as my AF isn't due till 25th March, so looks like I'll be going for EC 2nd week in April, you'll be getting the news of your BFP when I'm going for EC..!!

I went to the supermarket this morning and saw an old friend mine, we were really good friends a few of years ago but she went off to uni and we grew apart like you do... haven't spoken to her for a couple of years... she knows about the IVF and this morning she just said "so are you pregnant yet"? I couldn't believe what she was saying, she didn't even say it jokingly, with a smile or anything.. it was like she was saying 'god are you still trying' Anyway I made small take then said I had to rush off... she p*ssed me off..!!!!!!

Having a lazy day today - not doing anything tonight, been invited to a party but can't be bothered... OH my god what is my life coming to....!?!

Diet stations are GO tomorrow, so making of most of it, uummmm think a chinese is in order tonight..!

Hi sorry no personals - just wanted to wish all phoenixes a very happy New Year and hoping 2007 is THE year for all of us! :D

Peronally I can't wait to see the back of 2006 its been a s**t year and although I know 2007 is also gonna be a tough one don't think it could get much worse than 2006 so roll on 2007 8) !!!

Dh and I going for a dinner tonight. Planned on getting bus into town (taxi is £20 single time each way) but its torrential rain outside and blowing a gale so think one of us will have to drive  . Wanted us both to have a drink as today is the first day off we've had together, just the 2 of us in 6 weeks so wanted it to be perfect. Anyway,as I'm typing I'm lookin out the window and irts starting to look a bit brighter so maybe all is not lost!

Hope everyone is doing something nice tonight. Lucy that chinese sounds good - think I might be joining you!!

Love to all, speak to you in 2007  xxx
