SS: i am so sorry about your BFN. Wishing there was something i could say to really help. But we are here for you.

Ange: so sorry about decreased #3 beta. Will be anxious to hear what RE says tomorrow...

mom20: man, hangover right into diarrhea. You have had it rough! Hoping you are now on the mend.

EMS: Paris for NYE? Sounds fantastic. Hoping you have a wonderful time!

Sophie: thanks for the reminder re: bec's Sh@t Shield! Glad you were also successful in using it. I think even for the well-meaning people in our lives, it must be difficult for them to know what/what not to say to us.

tc: I am wishing you peace. These decisions are very difficult, and i am hoping for the best for you and dh.

Jeck: thanks for the quote re: patience. I appreciate the reminder! I saved it to my computer so that i have it during next breakdown  .

bec: again, so happy for you! i do get the idea about waiting for the other shoe to drop...it is hard to accept when good things happen some times when we have had to wait so long... oh, and girl, update your signature to reflect your BFP!!! (or is that part of your worry??)

Hi all, I ve been away for a while because of work but I wanted to stop in and say congrats to Bec!!! Way to go!!

Ange, I know how hard it is , I had that happen to me 3 times. It seems so unfair sometimes, we just have to keep believing that our time will come and God has something in store for us. Im thinking of you and DH.

SS, so sorry to hear your news. Im glad that you are thinking about the future. Good luck to you. Im sure your time will come.

Jeck, I loved your last post. It really hits home for me. Thanks!!

Auntie, How are you? You will be starting soon!! Just a couple more days.

Amcsmith, Wow, glad you got your date. ET on the 4th. Not much longer!!

Lori, Hope you have a great Birthday!! Enjoy!!

Sokru, Only 2 more sleeps!! Good luck to you!! BFP!!!

Well I start stimming on Friday. I have a different protocal this time. No BCP I go straight to stimming and this time we will use menopur. They said that they have had really great results with menopur. Accu has been going great. It makes me feel so relaxed and I have seen changes in AF.
I have a dinner to go to tonight so I must get ready.

Everyone have a great Wednesday.

Love to all,
Jackie

Hi - Hope every1 has had a good christmas, I can't believe its gone so quickly!

I really need your help. I've been injecting to DR since 16th December (my clinic start inj's on day 21) and AF still hasn't arrived!

I am due to start stimming a week today but can't do this if AF hasn't arrived. On our last cycle i was on the BCP so i stopped taking that and then started DR and AF arrived but its different this time and i'm going out of my mind with worry that she should have arrived by now??

I know u girls can help me, sorry to be a pain!

Hey Everyone!
Hope you are all doing great! Well 2 sleeps until the big day. My appointment is at 7am and they said that they would have the results in less than 2 hours. This wait is really killing me! I'm tired and I have a head ache most of the time. I guess the reality is hitting me that I will have a pregnancy test in a few days. I have really felt during this 2ww very positive that I will have a BFP but now that it is getting closer I am starting to come to grips with what will happen if I am not pregnant. I am not being negative I am just trying to prepare myself for both situations. This will be my only try with IVF. It has costs us $13,000 and we dont have any more money to try again. Sigh.. Well thanks for letting me whine to you all. I guess I am just a little down today. My hormones are all out of whack I cried when I heard Little Drummer Boy on the Radio the other day!
Have a great evening!
XOXO

Hi Ladies,

First I have to thank each and every one of you for all your well wishes and prayers. I can't tell you how much they mean and although we've all never met, they are so hearfelt as if we've been friends forever. I guess the fact that we can all relate to one another on such intimate issues is what makes it feel that way.

Went to the Dr. today and here's what he told me... He thinks 1 of 2 things might've happened, but leaning towards the latter. First off, I tested positive for an antibody that increases the likelihood of miscarriage which is why I've been on baby aspirin for months. However, the aspirin might not be enough and he will be putting me on Heparin. He is leaning more towards a genetic issue (my age plays a factor in this). I guess this was god's way of taking care of things for me and dh. I have to look at it that way. Not alot we can do about that, but what we will do is have pre-genetic-diagnosis testing done with my next retrieval. They will test the fertilized embryos before doing the ET to make sure they are genetically 'ok'. Very expensive process, but worth it! If they are not ok, nothing will get transferred, if they are ok, then here we go again hopefully with a different end result. I'm posting all this info for everyone's benefit in case they experience the same thing. I pray nobody will, but I'm a believer in sharing information. Big cramps have started so I'm sure it's any day now that things will start happening. I've already got my bcp's and am planning for a February cycle. I feel better emotionally now that I have a plan, but still dealing with crying jags. Each day will get better I'm sure. I'm looking forward to sharing my next cycle with all of you, this time from start to finish.

Bec... you better watch over us and keep us posted as to how many little one's are in there.

Mom/EMS and others who had the 'bug'... ick. Definitely going around, my niece threw up Christmas Eve for 8 hours, poor kid. Hope you are all feeling better!

EMS... Paris for NYE sounds so romantic. I'm jealous.

Aunty and Bec... I wish I could've been a statistic with your other friends and thanks so much for sharing those positive stories with me.

Jeck... loved the quote, wish I had it with me today when DH and I ventured out to the mall! argghhh!!

TC... you sound like you are at peace with your decision for now. Not an easy decision, I admire you.

Sophie... keep that shit shield up. Some people just don't know what to say and say insensitive stuff. They'd be better off just listening.

Anyway, just wanted to drop by and let you know... Here I go again!

hugs,
Ange

evening ladies

amc - uuhhh, 4th jan is next week!!! how exciting!!!

jackie - good luck with stimms on friday. hope you are having a nice dinner.

vickie - sorry i cant help as its my first ivf but funny enough i think you've cleared some questions up for me!!! i take it from your post that you are meant to get AF after downregging?? if that's right, then that has just cleared up some confusion for me!! haha. i thought that when you downreg, that stops your af from showing and you then start stimms at some point. but going by your post i got that wrong. am i right??

son - aaww, bless you - i really feel for you. well, i think i can as you must feel such mixed emotions. what signs, if any, have you had?? i cant wait to hear about your BFP tomorrow!!! if you find out at the latest at 9am then that should be about 2-3pm over here. right, got it!!

ange - i have heard about PGD before and our dr winston programme was on the other day which had information on PGD which was really interesting. i think its great what they can do although i know its expensive. its great to hear you have a plan and hopefully that should take you one step closer to your bfp!!! oh, and i so know what you mean about feeling like we've all known each other for years. it is truly weird how you can feel so close to people who are on the other side of the world!!!

Good evening ladies!

We're finally back home in Montreal! It's so great to be home and do my own dishes!

The vibe has not been so uplifting here these days... I feel so sorry for what happened to several of you guys! I find myself thinking about how you're doing many times a day, wondering how you're getting through our own pains and disappointments. What an emotional roller coaster this is! It's really hard no to lose focus through all this. I keep telling my friends and my patients that the average chair or table must have four legs to stand properly... so if you take one away it still stands... The same goes for the focuses in your life. Set your table with only one or two legs and when one is taken away... boom! Patience is a wonderful asset, how true! And keeping in mind that your drive must not go all in one place is also important.

Thanks to Aunty, bec, Ange and sassy (hope I'm not forgetting anybody!) for the SS support! ;) But don't worry; I was not even venting, just reporting. I checked a nice website that surveyed each and every expense of 11 families in Quebec (down to the parking fees for the DH's visits in the first days after birth!) when they had their first child. And honestly, the numbers are not scary. We certainly can affort a baby, even two. So her comment did not have much impact, even if it made me think hard and stress a little. It's all way over now.

Ange, I admire your strength. I admire your determination to start again in February even if one extra step will be added to the process. I'm also sorry to hear that the bad cramping has started; I hope with all my heart that you will go through this without too much pain and without any further medical interventions. Keep us posted if you feel like it... and by all means, I'm with you, hang in there. *big hug*

With much love,

Sophie

ange: we did PGD w/our #1 IVF, mostly out of curiosity as we only had 4 ferts. we did it for aneuploidy, which i imagine is what your RE is talking about (chromosomal abnormalities). For us, it was valuable, as all 4 of our embies were "complex abnormal" meaning they had multiple abnormalities each. All stopped growing by 8 cell stage (they do the biopsy around 6-8 cell stage). It was helpful for us as we now know the majority of our embies are abnl, and that is why they stop growing or never implant (i.e., it isn't the lab, or my uterine lining). We didn't do it the #2 IVF as only had 5 ferts again, and RE reported 15-20% loss rate of nl embies w/this process. We had 2 slow-growing "ok" looking blasts that were transferred but never implanted. Now that we had 12 ferts this time that are now frozen, considering doing PGD again (more cost-effective this time) to weed out the best quality embies (there is only so much more i think i can take of this :? ). PGD has its risks, and is expensive, but when FETs cost >$3,000 per shot, paying to find the good embryos might be worth it.

Sorry that it didn't work out for you this time, but sounds like your RE is hopeful for you, and i am too!

Here's kind of a silly question for you all. Do any of you exercise regularly in between cycles? I know while I'm in the cycle I shouldn't work out, but was wondering if it was okay now that I'm just waiting for AF to come so I can start FET. I'm an exercise junkie, but am feeling guilty lately everytime I hit the eliptical machine. Plus, I just found a journal entry online that said there was a decreased chance of successful IVF for women who exercise. Thoughts?????
