I had my first ultrasound today and it showed a singleton with a heartbeat of 158. However, the gestational age (per the ultrasound) was 4 days behind what it should have been (it was 6 wks, 5 days when per egg retrieval date I'm 7 weeks, 2 days.) Have any of you ever seen this and then later 'caught up'?
Suzhan, first of all I want to thank you so much for your posts, you always have the right words, I always like reading your posts, they always give me peace of mind. I hope I can bring you some back now.
I really don't think you should be worried about this, number one, because your RE wasn't concerned at all, so that by itself gives you a clue that this is absolutely normal. Number two, the HB was perfectly normal, if there was any problem that is the first thing that would go wrong. Third, after doing a lot of reading on growth and scans on the 1st trimester I can tell you that it is absolutely true what your RE said about there being a +/- 6 to 7 days difference in the scan, he even told you that if he were to measure it again it would probably be a different reading. I know nothing we say will make you change your mind probably, and you will still be concerned until you see your next scan and see that your little beanie is still having that amazing HB and is growing the way mommie wants him/her to.
I hope I could help you even if it is a little bit.
I wish you the best, you really deserve it, you seem to be an amazing woman, and I really mean it.
Keep us posted please!!

suzhan- i posted on other thread also but wanted to give my support. HB sounds great and DR does not seem worried. i have also heard that measurements can be + or - 5 days. PMA, PMA keep strong and try and not worry all the way to next scan.

Vicky - you are so sweet - thanks so much for the note. I know you're right but it's just so hard not to worry about every thing that isn't 'perfect', if you know what I mean. I hope next week's ultrasound is more reassuring.
Justine and Noodle - thanks a lot for the info and for the confidence! I'm trying to keep up the pma for another week! Justine - do you know how your friend found out what the 98% percentile is or was it something the doctor showed her? From what I've read, the ultrasounds should be more like 1/2 week plus or minus, but 4 days is just enough over the 1/2 week that it makes me wonder.
Well, thanks again to all 3 of you - I really do appreciate the responses!
I hope and pray everything works out for you. As Vicky said, you have been so supportive to us and I am sure all will be OK with your little mircale.
I don't know much about the heartbeat levels but I know that you have crossed a milestone by hearing a strong heartbeat. I have also heard that it can be + /- a few days, so I am sure everything will be fine. Try and be positive my dear.
You will be in my thoughts and prayers. I hope everythings goes well next week.
Suzhan how are you doing?, how was your new year???.....I wanted to know when are you having your next scan....
Hope everythink is ok with you, I am sure it is !!!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU!!

I had scan #2 today - heart beat was 176 and baby was measuring 8 wks, 1 day so it looks like we did catch up quite a bit. The scary news was that I had a small area where the placenta seemed to have come away from the uterus wall. I haven't had any bleeding, but I did have some light cramps yesterday which the Dr. said could be related. Dr. and all the nurses said it's nothing to worry about, it's pretty common and mine is much smaller than they often see with this. I need to understand this more - it sounds pretty bad to me, but they all seemed to be completely unconcered. Hmmm....one more issue I guess.
Thanks again for your encouragement! I really do appreciate it!

Suzhan, I was waiting for your results today, I am so happy that everything is ok!!!!!. Regarding the separation in the placenta, I heard a lot of women here mentioning they had that and it was nothing, mainly if your RE is saying not to worry (but we know you will worry anyway ). Check in the first trimester thread, Kim had that, maybe you can ask her...
I wish you all the best!!!!!

Thanks so much! I'm convinced this process will be one worry to the next - this started all the way back from my ER, where I got 3 eggs from 11 follies....and so on! But, as long as it works, I'll take the worry and am not complaining. Thanks again for your support!
