Hello ladies, hope everyone Ok today. Where are the days going? The time seems to be flying by with so much to do before Xmas!

Rittie, good luck with your scan tomorrow. Will you find out the sex of your bumps? Hope all goes well. xx

Lucy, hope the BP behaves itself and the dizziness has gone. Sorry, don't know anything about the heart irregularity, but please remember the dr has said that it is 'common and usually rights itself before delivery'....hang onto those words. Keep us posted. Sending you relaxing vibes xx

Thanks for the encouraging words Riley and Anna!

Just a quick update, Tues. went well. I saw my AK doctor (my natural doctor/nutritionist) and I discovered that my stress level was upseting my body. I was low on magnesium and I needed another vitamin to support my adrenals. She checked my BP and it was still up a bit. I went home and took my vitamins, and I kid you not... within hours my blood pressure was coming down.

I went to see my midwife later that afternoon and my BP was down from where it was early that morning. Even better, the baby's heart rate sounded perfect and fine. The midwife had no explanation, but was pleased. I am going back next Monday for a follow up, and will still keep listening to her heart for some time after that.

So, things are good. I guess my stress level was higher last week than I knew (last week of school and the in-laws are coming next week and staying for 8 days!). I am still not comfortable with the heart situation, but I am sure after a few more visits like that one I will feel better.

Anna, please let us know how the midwife appt. goes Friday. Good luck! I hope everyone else is doing well. Our board has been so quiet lately!

Take care

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to let you know that we had the 20 week scan yesterday and everything appears to be going well. (Thank you God and thank you everyone who kept me and the babies in your thoughts and prayers).

Both babies look wonderful, they are about the same size and are growing pretty much on target to expectation (due date moved 2 days to 28th April). Heartbeats were about 148. One was scratching its face and putting hand in mouth a lot. The other kept flipping from one side to another. One is sitting very high almost near my stomach (this explains the feeling of having swallowed a basket ball and the breathelessness I guess.) The other is sitting much lower under the belly button towards the left pelvis. I'm so pleased that they are both good sized as I've only put on 3Kgs and we have reached 21 weeks (today). So I think its true the babies get nourishment from the mother's stores not so much from how much she eats (pls don't beat me up for that, it was what the midwife told me).

WE HAD ONE MASSIVE SURPRISE THOUGH! I posted that we we were told the expected sex of the babies at 13.5 weeks. Alas with a disclaimer that this should be confirmed at the 20 week scan. So yesterday, they checked again and one of the babies is NOT what they had originally told us. I'm chuffed as anything that they are both healthy but I must admit I went into shocked and confusion...don't get me wrong, I am pleased and delighted, I am just shocked as I thought something different for the last 2 MONTHS  So glad we haven't told anyone or we'll look like right muppets :o

Anyway, thank you God for 2 healthy babies and this weekend I'll slap the confusion out of my head and start enjoying the good news :-)

Lots of love to you all
Rittie

Hi Ladies, hope everyone having a good weekend.

Rittie, good to see your news. Glad to see all is well, even if you had a supprise about the sex of your little bumps! Good luck with your appointment on Tuesday.

Lucy, you sound really positive! Great news that the heartbeat sounded fine. It sounds like this was just a little blip to ensure you keep worrying !!!! Hope the appointment tomorrow goes well. Good luck.

Emmie, hope all goes well with your appointment on Wednesday. Keep us posted.

Hi everyone! I hope you are all doing well and enjoying the holidays. I will be sure to post right away after my scan on Wednesday! I am so excited to see the twins again and I can't wait to know what they are.

I think the second trimester is being very good to me so far--I've had a few moments where I had to touch my stomach to make sure I had still had a big belly because I've actually felt like my old self. The headaches have subsided as well as the queasy stomach and excessive fatigue. I've actually been able to get some real work done!

Rittie - I can't imagine what it must have been like for you to hear you are having something totally different than you expected for the last 2 months! I can''t wait to know what you are having. I am glad everything is going well though.

Anna, so glad your midwife appt went well! I hope that you can get in some good relaxing over the holidays. Do you have any big plans?

Emmie, isn't the 2nd trimester the best? It is so much nicer than the 1st. Just make sure you are getting enough protein! I felt so normal that I went back to my normal eating habits and they told me I needed to keep up on the protein and eat snacks throughout the day. I hope you keep feeling so well, and let us know how the visit goes Wed.

I went in today for my midwife visit and the heart still sounds normal. I am so relieved! They gave me info for the childbirth education class they want me to sign up for and I couldn't help but think how fast the rest of the pregnancy will go. We all think we have 40 weeks, but it could be less... and there is still so much to do. I think I am obviously a first time mom here! Anyhow, my blood pressure was still a little higher than we would have liked, but everything else checked out ok. I am going back this Friday to listen to her heart again and check the bp. I'll keep you all posted.

Have a great week and enjoy the holidays!

Hello all and happy holidays! I am loving the holiday hats on the smileys. Guess it's been a while since I visited...
Everyone seems to be doing so well! I love it when I am absent for a bit and come back to find everyone still with their bumps and moving along quite uneventfully, the way it should be.
I saw the dr yesterday and all is well. The heartbeats are good and strong and I only gained 2 pounds in the last 3 weeks. Yippee! Prior to this appointment, I was up 22 pounds so I am thrilled that I finally have it under control. 21 weeks tomorrow and my uterus measured at 28 weeks yesterday. No wonder I can barely breathe! From here on out I will see the dr every two weeks with scans every 4 weeks. Next scan is scheduled for 12/27.
I did some baby clothes shopping over the weekend. I tell you, it is very expensive even on sale! Thank goodness my mom was wanting to buy things for the boys as it was nice having her to offset some of the cost. Still need to get those cribs ordered...
Called today and got set up for birthing classes during the first part of February. It doesn't even seem like I've had a child before, since she is so old (10), this is all new to me.
Anyhow, happy holidays to each of you and celebrate this, the last quiet season without your babies!

Take care,
Dione

Hi ladies,

I saw the consultant at hospital yesterday. She went through the scans and was happy with the progress of the twins. She said the babies are measuring the same as singleton babies which is good news. She is expecting their growth to slow down after 28 weeks (as compared to the Singleton due to lack of space). She said I'm looking like a 24 week pregnancy at 21.5 weeks (and still people at work haven't commented about me looking pregnant!!!). The next scan is at 28 weeks and I only need to see the GP in 4 weeks time before seeing her again after the scan. Still doesn't seem like a lot of monitoring to me considering she went on and on about the risk of pre-term labour and I should start observing myself of signs from now.... hhmmmmm, pray for me that they'll stay put inside till the mid to high 30 weeks pls girls....

Dione, very nice to hear your experience with carrying twins. My main complaint is the breathlessness. Particularly after eating, I find it hard to breathe for hours. Other than that and a bit of sleeplessness, I find the second trimester definitely an improvement from the first. So girls soldiering through the sickness, be brave and hopefully you too will feel better soon.

Rittie

Where is everyone? Still off enjoying the holidays, I suppose.
Just came from a scan and the boys look good. At 22 weeks, they are now 1 pound 1 ounce and 1 pound 3 ounces which they say is right on target. They were being a bit lazy and not moving too much during the ultrasound. Of course as soon as we walked out I started getting kicked. I love it!
Next dr appointment is next week, 01/03 as I have begun going every two weeks now.
I hope that everyone is doing well and loving their bumps. Have a good week and Happy New Year!

Hi Gals,

It looks like I am not the only one that has been missing this week. The holiday was nice for me. It has been a long and tiring week though, with my in-laws in town for 8 days! They leave soon though, which will be nice as well.

Glad things are going well for you both Rittie and Dione and that your little ones are growing nicely. I have caught a cold this week and have a killer sore throat. Anyone have any ideas on how to treat that naturally?

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. We have a great 2007 coming up! Take care.

Hello ladies, wishing you all a very happy new year!

Dione, good news about your scan. Glad to see all went well. How did the Dr appointment go today?

Rittie, glad to see your appointment went well and that you are OK. Can people really not tell that you are carrying twins??

Lucy and Rileydee sorry to see you aren't feeling very well. I have found gargling with TCP helps with a sore throat, not pleasant but effective. I have also been using a special handwash to keep germs at bay, called 'first defence' don't know if it's just in my head but it seems to be working so far.

Our list, sorry for any mistakes
Jo, one girl beanie :D Due 15th March
Wendy, twins :D :D Due 5th April
Rileydee, girl beanie :D Due 9th April
Anna, one beanie :D nxt apptmt 16th Jan Due 9th April

Michelle, one beanie :D Due 7th May
Bridget, one beanie :D Due 25th May
Emmie, twins :D :D Due 29th May
Angela, one beanie :D Due 31st May

As for me, nothing much to report really, ankles and waist slowly disappearing. Went back to work today after the xmas break which wasn't too bad. Am now counting the days to when I can start my maternity leave!!!
A good friend has used her computer skills to scan our baby scan pictures and reproduce them on photographic card. They will now last longer, won't fade and are much more robust than the originals from the clinic. I know that those of you out there who are whizzes at this kind of thing will be laughing at my total ineptitude but I am really grateful to her for taking time to do this for us!!

Hope everyone Ok. Here's to a happy and healthy 2007
Hugs to all here

HAPPY 2007 everyone! I wish you all the best for a wonderful and life changing/fulfilling year. Its going to be so incredible for everyone in this group!!! Take good care of yourselves.

Quick update. I had my 24 week appointment with my GP yesterday. All's ok, both babies are fine. Heart beats were 152 and 162. Doc commented that I am looking huge for 24 weeks which pleases me to no end. I've put on 4Kgs now which is still not a lot but she said that is good news and quite irrelevant if the babies are good in size. My womb is sitting very high which explains why I can't eat a lot and breathe very well. I told her about my latest symptoms which is numbness and ache in my limbs at night. And on occassions I've been getting a sharp pain on my left buttock. She's now recommending that I should go for antenatal physio therapy at hospital as things could only go worse as the babies' weight increase. So I'll be making arragements for that today.

Anna, may I ask you when you are planning to start maternity leave? I've spoken to my boss and have arranged to work from home 2-3 days a week from next week. I told him worse case I'll be off work around 30 weeks in mid-Feb. Best case is around 34 weeks in mid-March. Does this sound sensible and realistic?

PS Finally. Finally. A guy that I worked with told me he was suspecting I was pregnant but of course didn't feel it was appropriate to say anything. So there, I've grown so much in the last 4 weeks that its crazy people didn't seem to be noticing so now I know, they were just being too English and reserved :-)

Lots of love to everyone.
Rittie
