question re ohss?

hi loopylou,<br>you can still get ohss once your eggs have been nabbed! its all about your follies filling up with fluid, and fluid can even go to the lungs. I ohs on 1st go and spent a day in hospital(some people spend 2 weeks!) I was really ill for the 2 weeks, however after that attempt i have drunk loads and loads and no ohss!<br>pma is positive mental attitude.......make sure you have lots of it lou!<br>as for the chat room , it seems to have been stuck since the hack!<br><br>take care<br>kathryn<br>x<br>

Hi Loopylou<br><br>The chat room isn't working - not sure how long it will be off because it was a God send. I have tried to use Fertility Friends but it is so much more complicated!!! I don't seem to able to do it properly or get the hang of the message boards come to that!<br><br>Anyway Piggys, as far as I know are Percy Pigs sweets from M and S which some people seem to eat quite a bit of!!<br><br>Take care<br>Love Lisa x

Hi loopylou<br><br>OHSS is still relatively rare so I don't want to alarm you. The symptoms are as follows - your stomach gets very bloated (you can look as if you are nine months pregnant when it's at its worst); it is incredibly painful to even move; you can feel very nauseous and even throw up.<br>I had ohss first time round and was in hospital for 7 days. It came on mildly a day after ec, I had et 2 days later and then it hit with a vengeance. My advice is to drink as much water as you can now to try and stave it off(because I had it last time, I have been advised by my new clinic to drink 4 litres of water plus 1 of milk a day - I am on day 10 of stimming). If you still feel bad on et day make sure they do a blood test to check for ohss before they put the embies back in as if you do have ohss it's probably better to freeze the embies and wait until your body has recovered. If they put them back in with ohss you can have one of two scenarios - 1) you don't get pregnant as it's difficult to put the progestorone suppositories in when you're so bloated and it hurts to move - this is what happened in my case 2) you do get pregnant but the ohss in this case will intensify and you could be in hospital for up to six weeks as they drain your stomach etc. In my case my lungs filled with water and I had difficulty breathing so it did get quite serious. My advice to you - if you think you have it make your clinic do a blood test BEFORE ET - it's rare but you need to be vigilant. if at any time you start to feel very nauseous and it's painful to move get yourself immediately to A&E as you may need to be put on a drip to rehydrate, . hope you don't have it - best of luck. beckym xxx
