I am now 3 days post EC, had ET yesterday and I am still in agony. Is this normal, Kings said that the 'discomfort' should only last 48 hours. It is now longer than this and I would not describe it as discomfort. It kind of feels like when I had a caesarian (not sure of the spelling-sorry!) with my daughter.

Any advice on what I should do, apart from drink 3 bottles of vodka!!

Any help would be much appreaciated

Love Lorraine G
Hi Lorraine
Id mither the clinic so that they check you out again. There is probably nothing serious to worry about but why torture yourself with worry/pain. They may be able to at least point you in the right dirction for safe pain relief.I had alot of pain following ec but Id been overstimmed and made 60 follicles!!(so i didnt get to et they just froze em all)I was also wondering ( and I might be miles off the mark here cos I dont know what kind of pain you are in )but each time Ive done any ivf stuff Ive had intestinal pain/wind on and off through out (which can get pretty painful) and this pain is nt always easy to pin down.
hope you feel better soon and good luck with the cycle
love Annie
Thanks for your reply Annie

Yes you could be right about the intestinal pain/wind. I do feel very bloated and my stomach (though big normally!) feels huge and very solid and not it's normal flabby self. It does get worse during the day as well, also I think that the journey back in for ET yesterday did not help as we have approx 6 hours in the car to get in and back to Kings. I will see how I go today, if it is no easier by mid afternoon I will give King's a call just to check things out.

Love Lorraine
Lorraine
from your symptoms would say there is a chance you may have ohss - please see my response to loopy - if the pain continues and you start to feel nauseous or in the least bit dizzy or breathless get yourself immediately to A&E for a check-up. they can do a blood test there. keep drinking masses of water - 4 litres a day at least if you can plus get some protein into you - preferably milk (though i guess nuts may do). best of luck. beckym XXX
Lorraine,
I would agree with the other girls, contact your clinic for advice, and get lots of water and protein into your system, I had lots of Sustagen drinks (don't know if that's an Autralian product?), but basically just a protien rich "hospital formula" drink you mix with milk. OHSS can be painful, I sat with my heat pack glued to my stomach for about two weeks after egg collection, that helped as well, though if you go for et, my clinic recommended not using heat as this can harm the embies...
Take it easy Lorraine, keep in touch
B
