Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone here has had the range of miscarriage tests given if you recurrently miscarry. Ive just been referred after two concurrent early mcs following frozen ivf. What I was really wanting to know is how long you had to wait. We cant have an appointment til Jan 2004. Since Im having tubal surgery in december (we thought wed try and spread our bets!)Im keen to bring forward the mc testing to before the surgery, since there is a slim hope that I could get preg following the surgery (if it was sucessful of course)We are also scheduled for a fresh cycle of ivf in feb2004 so it would be cutting it fine for getting results back from any mc tests if we wait until Jan.Does anyone know if you can get these tests done privately and if so what did it cost?
what a long rambling message, I would be v grateful if anyone had any answers! Good luck with all your cycles, I dont post much but I like to keep an eye on things in between my treatments ( its somehow less lonely to know how we all share similar worries and feelings)
Love Annie
hi annie,
I think we have posted before to each other!
Im due to see my consultant next friday, and he is going to send us to st marys in london for some re-current miscarriage tests. we will have to pay privately for these, so yes you can get them privately. (all our tmt is private as our area wont fund), so Ill let you know what our consultant has to say re cost etc.
I also had tubal surgery a couple of years ago, thankfully on nhs as for me the surgery couldnt sort my tubes out!

anyway, Ill let you know what my consultant has to say
take care
kathryn
x
Hello again Kathryn,
We are also paying for our ivf but as far as I know the mc tests will be done at the nhs clinic in the hospital. I just kind of assumed this meant we wouldnt be charged.I cant see how they could justify charging as anyone whether doing art or not would be referred after 2-3 mcs wouldnt they ?Perhaps 2.5 months is a relatively short wait? Itjust doesnt feel that way!! Thanks for replying and good luck with the consultant.
love
Annie
Hi Kathryn & Annie,

I have just had recurrent m/c /IVF failure test at St Mary's. I waited about 3 months for an appointment. The 1st set of test & appointment cost about £600 altogether. I had antiphospholipid tests, thromby something tests, and DH and I had chromosonal tests. I have to repeat the antiphospholipid test in 6 weeks as your levels fluctuate, and you may be -ve one time and +ve the next. I also had fasting insulin resistance testing as I have PCOS and a small sub-group also have this!!

Anyway the whole process means that I won't be going again until the new year, but I'd rather be armed will all the necessary info!!

Hope that is of some help.

Love

Karen
xx
Me 33 DH 34
1 clomid preg m/c @12 weeks

Hello Karen,
Sorry about the delay I havent been on the site for a wee while. Thanks for your info,it doesnt look like my 2.5 months wait is such a bad one after all. I'll just have to be patient.I also double checked if I had to pay for the mc tests (since Im doing ivf privately) and I dont.I think Ill ask about the insulin resistance tests since I also have polycystic ovaries. Ive got tubal surgery scheduled in early december so that should keep me busy.
good luck with your future cycles
love Annie
