AF after IVF

I had my first IVF ion October 2006. On November 2nd I got my BFN and then on November 5th I had a proper, normal AF.

My next AF (2nd one since BFN result) was then due on 5th December but it has not happened??. Is this normal? Is it still my ovaries recovering from the October IVF??

Any answers would be very welcome!!

I had the same thing happen after my failed IVF cycle. It took AF 38 days to show up. My RE told me that it takes two cycles for all of the meds to clear your body.

Bekkie,

After my first IVF, I got my AF very late and also, the bleeding was not normal. It was very light. It took more than 2 AFs to get a normal AF. I got my AF after my second IVF after 38 days and the bleeding was not normal. It looks like the more we wait for the AF eagerly, the more it bothers by delaying. It is better to be relaxed and not worry about it. I am hoping my next AFs will be more periodical. I have to wait and see.

yeah it is annoying as laproscopy had to be postponed until my AF has been and gone.

Got BFN on 1st November from 1st IVF. AF then came as normal on 5th November. Lasted the normal amount of days and was heavy as normal.

Now nothing since 5th november !!! only kind of pinkish\brown stuff (not what you would call blood ) - sorry if too much info! Did not know IVF messed-up our insides quite so bad!

Just an update - still no AF....

My last POST IVF AF was 5th November 2006 ... now it is almost 5th January 2007.... two months and no AF????

What if IVF has damaged my ovaries and I am not ovulating?? Maybe the ovaries were damaged during egg collection is this possible? Maybe I have lots of ovarian cysts caused by IVF which has prevented ovulation.

I have been feeling sick, felt twinges in my ovaries and my breasts have been sensitive - but nothing ??!! Is all this normal ??

If anyone else has a story like this please share it!!!

After my second cycle last August, I got AF in exactly 1 week after I got a negative beta and I stopped the PIOs. Then, it took me 5 weeks to ovulate and 7 weeks for AF to come....I did an OPK to figure out when I ovulated, but I too was freaking out wondering if IVF had worn out my ovaries....But, apparently not, it's just your body figuring itself out after all the stims and hormones. I have heard that the RE might be able to bring on another AF....not sure what it entails, probably more meds.

Bekkie, I guess maybe you did one (or several) already, but did you do a HPT just in case there is a miracle???......not trying to raise your hope on something so difficult, but since you had no AF in 2 months and you are having twinges and sore breasts, just a thought.....

I had D&C about a 10 days ago, still spotting, I hope I can have a normal AF in 3 weeks so I can continue with my next treamtent....

Thanks all for the replies - still no AF. I just have the occasional kind of spotting like pink\pinkish-midbrown (sorry if too much info ). My body is trying to do something (I can feel it ) - but what exactly, I do not know. I still have one tube remaining (but not sure if it is blocked - the laproscopy planned for 22nd december 2006 was supposed to have found out - but it had to be cancelled due to no AF ). It could therefore be possible I have become pregnant naturally but that would be a dream and too good to be true after 6 years of TTC . I am scared it could be another ectopic - I have had no pain yet but still paranoid due to the one I had in 2005 which resulted in removal of left tube. I am also terrified of HPTs as I know they always bring bad news but I am going to have to take one - we will take a HPT this weekend and then go to the docs if pregnant. If not pregnant I will go to the docs anyway to find out why I am not having an AF. I am concerend about this starnge spotting though.. it is not blood - not at all - just this pinkish\pinkish mid- brown stuff.. oh well I will find out over the weekend... I will not get my hopes up as I feel AF is on her way and also pregnmant straight after a failed IVF - that would be a miracle in itself - especially as my body would have been all out of sync from the meds etc..

Thanks for staying positive - someone has to or I think I would go mad. My hubbie is buying a pregnancy test on his way home from today - I do not when I will get the courgae to use it! It has been 62 days since my last post IVF AF - on 5th November. Of course if I am not pregnant I will be on a downer wondering what the hell sould be wrong with me?! I will also be very annoyed because before my IVF my ovaries worked fine and I was ovulating with no problems.. I am beginning to regret having gone through all this IVF stuff, if it "screws up" your body like this!!!! Nightmare!

Bekki, I just wanted to wish you all the luck in the world with your HPT. But even if it is negative, please don't be frustrated, it would also be good in a way because at least you would be able to go to your RE and he will probably give you something to make AF appear...

BFP on a HPT!!!!!!! I cannot believe it. A natural preganncy following my first IVF BFN. I cannot believe I just ,got pregnant straight after a failed IVF. I worked out I would be about 9 weeks pregnant... I pray my blood tests are good (hormone levels ) and that the baby is growing in the right place and NOT in my tube - like in Feb 2005 when my left tube burst as a result of an ectopic!!!! Please pray for me that this baby stays not just for 9 weeks but for 9 months.. I go to the docs this week - not sure on the dtae yet - will be making an appointment this morning. Sorry I could not post over the weekend computer crashed at home - husband is not trying to fix it!!!
