cervix location and opening 10 weeks 1d-please help!

Hi All,

Does anyone know if the cervix sits very low and the opening is visible? Sorry, this is TMI but i am suffering from BV infection and waiting for 12 weeks to start the medication. I looked down there and opened my labia with my hands and I can see the cervix and the cervix hole is visible and is about 1/2 centimeter ( i looked at a measuring tape). I am very worried. Please someone let me know if this is normal. When they say the cervix is closed, what does that mean? how closed does it need to be? should i head to the ER? i dont have any spotting. I think i may have some slight cramping but that could be gas too. i cannot tell. Not sure what to do. I am panicking!!!!!

Evie, I don't think it was your cervix what you saw, you cannot actually see the cervix by yourself, that is why the doctors have to put a speculum and look through it, think that the cervix is at the end of the vagina, it is the opening of the uterus, so I really really doubt that is what you saw, you must have seen the vagina, which is normally closed (it is a virtual cavity), so relax and definetly call your doctor since he should be addressing all this worries that you have, don't wait any longer, if you need treatment he should give it to you..
