New Member; Starting first IVF cycle today

Post by carrieann »

Hi, I'm Carrie Ann and I'm starting my IVF injections this evening. It's day 21 of my cycle and the Lupron is supposed to shut down my ovaries. Or that's my understanding anyway.

I've been married 3 years to my grade school and high school sweetheart. We have been trying to get pregnant for 2 years. After a couple of months of trying I realized my cycle wasn't right because I was starting 7 days after I ovulated. So I went to a specialist.

He started me out on Clomid. I apparently am one of the very few people that are allergic. I had itchy hives everywhere :) We then tried for a few more months on our own and then did 2 IUI cycles. The first one produced 2 follicles and the 2nd produced 5 but no pregnancy.

My husbands tests have all come back fine and on paper our doctor feels we should be pregnant. So we are assuming there is something wrong with me eggs and extraction is the only way for the doctor to find out what it might be.

We are very hopeful that this cycle will result in a pregnancy but I'm very nervous. Any past experiences or tips for dealing with the physical and emotional discomfort that comes with this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi carrieanne, I to are in my first cycle. I have been on the pill for 18 days and I am starting lupron tonight! I hope this works out for the both of us! Also, there is a thread on the General Forum call December-January Cycle Buddy's Our New beginnings- Come check it out. We are all cycling around the same time and it is a great way to have questions answered and it is a great support system.

Wishing you the best!

Erin

I don't think there is any way to prepare you for the roller coaster that is IVF. Just know that we are all going through the same thing and that any question and or comment is always welcome!!! I wish you the best!

New to this site too - in the middle of my first IVF cycle

Post by maggiemay07 »

Hi there,
I'm new to this site though I do recognize a few names from another site message board on Fertility Neighborhood! A litlte about me and DH, we live in Portland, OR and I am 31, DH just turned 35. We've been TTC for over a year and after a laparoscopy for large ovarian cysts and endometriosis, decided to go straight to IVF. We have no male factor infertility, just the ovarian cyst problem. We did two cycles of Clomid/IUI which both failed and resulted in my cyst growing bigger and bigger....sigh...!

Anyway, I'm in the middle of my first IVF cycle too. I just started my stims on Friday and have my day 4 u/s tomorrow. At my suppression check, I had 27 resting follies which was very exciting since I've only had one or two eggs in the past (due to large ovarian cyst). So far the Repronex is giving me fits - tons of site irritation, itching and soreness. Anyone else have the same reaction? The Lupron and Gonal-F are a breeze though I am starting to bruise a lot. In addition to working with my fantastic RE, I'm also getting acupucture and hypnotherapy which have been great for relaxation and postive outlook. I highly recommend it! I am also taking a two month sabbatical from work while I'm in cycle because I have such a high stress job.

My ER and ET are scheduled for the week of Jan. 22nd. Please feel free to email me at marguerittev@aol.com. I would love some cycle buddies! Best of luck to all of you.
