desparately seeking cycle buddies

Post by JULES K »

Hi Nicky,
thanks for your reply. The only supplement my clinic advised me to take was folic acid, however I read a really good book by Marilyn Glenville called "A Natural Guide To Fertility". She advocates taking a whole host of supplements and changing your diet and lifestyle to aid your chances of conceiving. She produces her own supplements (for men and women) which contain various vitamins and minerals however they are quite expensive. I just bought Sanatogen Pro natal supplements from Boots (about £6.00 for 60 days). They contain a lot of vits and minerals recommended for women who are already pregnant and who are trying to become pregnant. I also take extra Vit C and Flaxseed Oil supplements. I'm not sure whether they will do any good but it makes me feel better thinking I might be helping nature along!! A lot of the girls on here have also taken baby aspirin which is supposed to aid blood flow to the womb however my clinic advised me against taking them as I don't have a specific problem in that area.

As regards chocolate they recommend that you reduce your caffeine intake during treatment.

If you check out one of the earlier threads entitled "Calling all recent positives - any tips?" you will see a lot of posts from different girls and things they did which they feel made a difference.

take care, speak to you soon

Love

Julie.

desparately seeking cycle buddies

Post by SusieV »

Hi everyone.

I am new to the website and new to ICSI. I am looking for cycle buddies also as this is all new to me.

My background is that I have a 4 1/2 year old son who was conceived whilst I was on the pill (crazy world hey ?). We were told after trying for two years after his birth that as my husband's sperm was so poor now the chances of another child naturally was 6 million to 1 !!!. It has took a year for us to save for private treatment (as we already have a child the NHS will not pay), and finally in August we aimed for the end of this year. I waited for my October period and then my Consultant suggested we do a fast track cycle. I started Merinol injections last wednesday every night and Cetrotide every morning from yesterday. We are aiming for 5th Nov for egg retrieval and 7th Nov for egg implantation (just had a phone call from the clinic, they are bringing both forward by a day as I will be good to go !!!). Am very excited and can put up with the moods, the swollen body, the injections, but I wonder if anybody knows of anybody who has had a first cycle and fallen pregnant ?? We can afford another go but after that it's back to saving. Funny how the only thing stopping you from working for the child you really want is money !!!! : (

L.
SusieV x
