Ajdecker,
down regging is where you take drugs to shut down your natural cycle, so the clinic can control the process, i beleive lupron in the US is used, i used a nasal spray on my fresh cycle, but i just get one shot for an FET, then wait for AF and then start eostogen.

 Charity this is crap
I'm sure with the help of your dh you will find a way to get your bundle of joy. I demand you stay with us and fight, we can't lose our bouncy picture girl

Its so unfair all this money we have to fork out for a baby. I wonder if people realise how fortunate they are to have them the natural way. We must have been put on this crap journey because we are strong and someone knows we can handle all this heartache until we get to the good bit.

The bill for our cycle landed on our doorstep yesterday morning and we haven't even had af yet never mind been given a date to start  This is the only time throughout our cycle that i feel anger and resentment towards our Government. Why should i have to pay so much money when i have worked all my life and others pay for nothing

Aaaarrrrgggggghhhh makes me mad

Ok girls you are safe to come out from behind the sofa

Its great to have so many girls now and we will have so much support in the coming months when we are cycling.

I finally went back to work yesterday after spending 7 days in my bed with the cold and chest infection bug, which has hit the uk. I am still on antibiotics but feel so much more human again.

Ok hope you guys have a good weekend, catch up soon

Love Jen x

ajdecker,

I had my first Lupron injection the same day Fed did (Jan 3rd). Honestly, it's no big deal at all. It's impressive the first time because you don't know if the needle will hurt or not, if the meds will burn or not, and you don't know what the side effects will be.

I do the injections myself. My hands were trembling a great deal the very first time, being observed by the nurse and DH, and I had teary eyes because I fussed a little bit before I had the guts to just push the needle in. But honestly, it did not hurt at all. The meds burned a little bit after the injection. But nothing comparable to morphine or Dilodid, for example. Just an annoying feeling that fades in a few minutes to an hour. If you do something else, you completely forget about it.

And as far as side effects are concerned, I've felt nothing extraordinary, but I started spotting on day 3, and then started a heavier flow in the evening. I now have to wear pads because I have bleeding that looks like the last days of menstruations. No mood swings, no headaches, no dizzyness, no nausea, no hot flashes. Though like Fed, I had a lighter sleep at the very beginning, but in my case it's in the morning. But my injections are in the morning, too, so I wonder if it's not just my mind that warns me I have to give myself the shot soon so I don't forget.

Hope that helps!

Charity -- I'm so sorry for all this crap.......insurance companies suck! I am praying for you each and every night hoping that you and DH will find away to continue on.

adjecker - I don't know exactly what drugs you are taking, but I didn't have any side effects from Lupron or any of the hormones, except some weight gain (make that alot of weight gain). Some of it may be the holidays too. The only other problems I had was that I experienced some soreness on the injection site. My DH said "which hip honey". I told him it didn't matter they both hurt equally.

I'm a little nervous. I'm starting my 2nd cycle soon. I have an appointment with the dr on Tuesday for my schedule. I know I will be in February and we are doing something called "Flare Protocol" but I'm going to have to get a little more information. I think it is a shorter time frame than the last time and more meds.

I've been studying for 1 part of the CPA exam today...taking the exam next Saturday......so that is distracting me a little.

God Bless everyone. I'm really praying for all of us to have little bundles of joy in 2007!!!!

Thanks all for all of you responses regarding the meds. They said I'll be on bcp for about 21 days and then start Lupron. That's about all I know so far. They just said to call my next day 1 and then they will arrange to have the remainder of the tests taken-exam, hystersonogram, s/s for hubby...
I'm so excited to be starting. I have been dreading this and was having dreams and couldn't sleep. But now I believe I have made peace with this situation and I'm feeling so much better about. I'm actually excited to start. It gives me new hope, something I haven't had in quite some time! Seems like forever before my period begins. Who would have thought that I would actually really be looking forward to having my period start! lol

confusing question

Post by nerms »

Hi....I just had a question that perhaps those of you who have had a cycle before may beable to answer...from what i gather you start downregging on day 21...i guess this is based on a 28 day cylce, my cycle is 35 days long so does this mean that my day 21 is actually my day 28...if that makes sense?! The reason i ask is that my open evening is on weds-the team feel it will be too soon to start treatment this month-because my AF was 28th dec-making day 21 18th Jan-only a week after the open evening...but if my day 21 is actually day 28 then that gives us two weeks to start meds-hopefully enough time-meaning i can start a whole month earlier!! Cheeky hey :) ...i'm just reading my message back to myself-it sounds confusing...hope someone out there is on the same wavelength as me!!

Charity - I am totally gutted for you and wish there was a magic wand that I could wave to make things better for you. It must be soul destroying to see your dreams being taken away from you, but please try and stay positive as I'm sure there is a way for you to come through the other side and continue with your treatment. Take some time out honey and hope you will come back soon as we will miss you very much. xx

I will help with the lists as much as I can but as I'm going away next week and won't be around for 2 wks, I won't be much help! Not sure my DH will appreciate me logging in from our hotel...!! Although I suspect I will get withdrawl symptons ---eeek what am I going to do!

Image to nerms and steph - this is a great site and best place ever to get support and advice from others.

Nerms - if you are able to wade through all the posts on here, charity did a really good explaination of the typical cycle of IVF, think it is around pg 10/11... if you can't find it, shout and I will see if I can quote from it for you. We are also likely to have ICSI this time around and the only real difference is that they inject one of the sperm into the egg rather than letting them play together in the dish  (oh and the cost!)

Susan - how did you appt with the RE go - hope it went well and your on your way to becoming a mommy soon.

Julie not sure which meds you are on and I know different ladies experience different symptons - generally its hotflushes, I didn't get them too bad nor did I get any of the other symptons that some experience but I don't think there are any which are too nasty..

Jen - I hope your feeling better, what a way to start the new year in eh! That is so typical of these clinics - sending you the bill before you started the treatment

Well I just have received a load of info on natural IVF and boy what a difference it makes to the cost! Even their assisted IVF is nearly £1500 cheaper than my clinic so going to have alook at them. I know that money isnt' everything and you have to look at the clinics success rate but still has to be taken into consideration. For the UK girls, anyone been to or heard of the London Fertility Centre (LRC)??

Off to finish cooking my roast - already have forgotten to the potatoes! Have a great eve and catch up soon

Hi Nimble

Yes, have heard of the London Fertility Centre. Its meant to have one of the highest rates of success but don't know where the stats come from. If it is soooo great wouldn't we all be going there???????
Anyway let me know what you think, are you going to have treatment there?? If you recommend it then i might be on the next flight.
Good luck and enjoy that hotel

Nerms - we must have been posting around the same time - so just seen your post. I think day 21 is day 21 no matter what your cycle - (but happy to stand corrected). I know from my last cycle they didn't take into account my cycle lenght, they just said from first day of AF ring and then your plan starts on day 21.

Hope that helps or not, guess it may mean that you can't start a month earlier and have to endure another endless month or waiting for the wicked ***** to arrive (thats AF - aunty flow just in case you thought i was being completely rude!!  )

Jen - thanks for that - sounds good, going to do a bit of reseach on the clinic but like all the stats they never really break it down

From what ive read i too think that day 21 is day 21. it just mean the drugs control ya, so whats normally 35 days that month might mean AF will come on day 28-31....

Dont worry about it!! x x

Hey Guys! I have been gone on our vacation over New Years and just getting back and so much has happened...welcome to all of the new people!!! :D

Charity
... I am SOOOOO upset. I can not believe it.
When I left, I thought you were well on your way....? This just isn't fair. I understand the insurance game ~ we only get 2 tries in a lifetime and we used our last try this past time....even though we never did a transfer the first time, we still had to use that as our 1st try. It's so difficult and draining in so many ways.
You have been here for us and I hope you will let us be here for you. I know you are taking a break to think about things, but we are here when you are ready.

I have a question for anyone who may have experienced this ~ I had my ET in November and had a BFN and started period same day as BFN. Fairly normal period. I was waiting on AF to began my next cycle...she visited on Saturday, Dec 30th and only lasted for 2 days (barely) and then nothing until 4 days later (this only lasted one day) and then nothing again until this morning - spotting. Is it normal to have such an irregular cycle after IVF cycle? I did have this my first time, but I didn't do a transfer either.

I am supposed to start checking for surge this month, but I'm worried my doctor will tell me that I have to wait for a regular period. I visit him on Tuesday to find out....just curious if anyone has had experience, I don't want to wait...

Happy New Year to all,

Ashe
