Can anyone tell me a bit about about immunology testing??

Post by Lis »

I am really starting to stress out and I don't know if its for no reason. So far I have had 5 natural donor insem treatments, the last 4 all BFN  (currently on 2ww again - testing 27/11).

I went for a herbal treatment today that supports implantation and whilst I was there the acupuncturist asked if I'd had my immunity tested because they would advise getting this checked if you had been trying to get pg for 3-4 months without success (when you had been trying at the right time) which is essentially the amount of time I've been having tmt for. (back to back insems)

She said that if your asthmatic / allergic type person (which I am) it makes it more likely. I'm now all bothered about it because I am a very allergic person with severe nut allergies plus allergies to some medicines and animals.

My clinic has never mentioned any of this as possibly being a problem but then I have heard its controversial and as I'm with an nhs clinic I imagine they probably don't test for this anyway.

Can anyone give me any info or advice??

xx

Hi Lis,

I have only just joined the message board so I'm sorry if this has come a bit late but just wanted to let you know that I have had an immune blood test which was found to be positive and am currently undergoing treatment to suppress my robust immune system in order to conceive. Needless to say we had all the run of the mill tests to check for infertility like a laparoscopy, a sperm count and ovulation tests but that was about as far as the NHS went. For the immune blood test I had to go private and am being treated at the ARGC in London.
If you want to speak more that mail me back and I can try and answer any particular questions you might have. By the way I live in Edinburgh too so don't let going to London put you off!

HI Cat thanks for the reply - nice also to speak to a local!! :D I have lots of questions but just a few to start ( I will pm you later)

Was there anything that alerted the Docs to you having an immne prob like allergies? Also was there a reason you wanted to or were told to try these tests?? Also I heard they are mega expensive - is that true?

If you would rather pm me with these answers no probs

Cheers
