Hi girls

Ashe - I wouldnt worry about your af too much all the girls and cycles seem to be different. I have completed 3 ivf cycles and they have all been different especially no 2 as i didnt get an af after that cycle and had to take another hpt a few weeks after my bfn as the doc was a bit confused.
My Doc always want me to wait for 3 clear af's until we can try again but i have started my next cycle after 2 before. The docs do this to let the ovaries get back to normal. Hope i was of some help

Well i picked up my hrt medi today and couldn't believe that i had to pay for this aswell as my hosp treatment, scandalous. Anyway just have to wait on my af then we will be off and running again.

Hi, everyone, I haven't written in a couple of days, and there is so much catch up to do!!!

Welcome Kate to the forum!!!!!, I am also doing FET and have 4 frosties, but I might be doing it early March. Good luck on your cycle!!!

Steph, early blasto means that the embryos developed until day 5, that is the stage where they are called blastocysts, they are supposed to be more developed and implant better than day 3 embryos, but day 3 embryos do very well too!!!!

Julia, good luck on your CPA exam on Saturday!!!!!

Charity, I would love to know how you are doing, whether you were able to find out something more on other alternatives, please don't give up. We are all here for you!!

Beachbaby, let me know how it goes, you had an appointment on Wednesday right?? :?:

As for me, I am having a horrible cold, been coughing all weekend long, and now at work I feel horrible, would love to go home.......will try later...Also, I am still spotting, it has been about 17 days since my D&C, and I even feel like it is getting worse this past couple of days, and today even having some cramping.....don't know if there is something wrong, I called my RE, hope they call me today......

Well, GOOD LUCK TO EVERYBODY!!!!!!

Welcome Kate and Steph!!! 8)

Steph, the Blasto Stage (Blastocyst Stage) is the stage that the embryo progresses to after fertilizing for 5 days. After your ER (egg retrieval) they put them in the dish and wait and watch while they fertilize...sometimes they transfer at Day 3 after they have multiplied up to 6-8cells....if they do really well and continue dividing, they can go to the Blasto Stage (which has too many cell divisions to count). This is a very lamens description, but hope it helps. You can google it and find lots of info!

Jen, thanks for your info. I had not had this happen before and my doctor never mentioned that it might....so I was a little worried. I have my appt tomorrow and I am praying they will tell me we can still proceed with checking for a surge. With this protocol I'm doing, I still have to have another period before my stims, so maybe he will let me continue. I guess I only want to do what's best though!

Vicki ~ I'm sorry you are feeling so poorly and still spotting/cramping. I have not been through that experience, but I'm sure it's very difficult to continue to deal with...let us know what your doctor says.

Hello to everyone and hope you guys are doing well!!

Hi Everyone,

Its so good to read about everyone's experiences with the fertility treatment. I did my first IVF in December, got 10 eggs 5 was fertilized, 3 transfered which 2 was of great quality; Unfortunately non of them implanted so my result was a BFN! I have 2 frozen but not of the best of quality to do FET so I will be doing a whole new cycle starting early February.

My doctor told me everything went well, so the embryoes not implanting is unexplained, I hope we have better luck next time. My first treatment on the fertility medications had to be cancelled due to OHSS, even the second treatment after ER, I was in pain for more than a week even after embryo transfer. The pain after ER I am very scared of, I really do not mind doing all the injections, but I cannot think about going through all that pain again but never-the-less i will be doing it again.

I am so sorry for those who does not have health insurance to pay for the treatment, I guess I am lucky to work for a company whose insurance coveres fertility treatment. I know how stressful it can be when you are spending so much money and not knowing what the outcome will be, but i hope all of us get successful result at some point.

I hope to learn a lot on this forum and will share my experiances too.

Take care all and good luck to all of us.

Mali.

Hi all...I've been doing a lot of reading on this board and others and I feel like it seems that all the BFPs I see came from 5 day transfers. Now I'm all paranoid because my clinic does 3 day transfers...what do y'all think?

Also, has anyone ever used Prometrium to bring on AF? I used Provera before which I would take for 7 days and then AF came about a week later. This time I was prescibed Prometrium and I have to take it for TWELVE Days...which in my mind just adds yet another week before I can start my BCP and finally get on the way to our IVF cycle!! :x I'm wondering if maybe I won't have to wait the whole 7 days afterwards for my AF visit...

Thanks ladies! Hope you are having a nice Tuesday!!! :)

MALI:

I TOO EXPERIENCED A LOT OF PAIN AFTER ER....I HAD TO TAKE (2) DIFFERENT MEDS.....FOR INFECTIONS AFTER. THE PAIN WAS MORE THAN MOST PEOPLE HAVE DESCRIBED BUT I'M ASSUMING IT'S BECAUSE I DEVELOPED THE INFECTIONS AFTER. I'M HOPING THIS TIME'S ER WILL BE A LOT BETTER! BUT 1ST I HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE HOW I FARE WITH THIS "FLARE PROTOCAL".......I DON'T WANT TO COUNT MY EGGS BEFORE THEIR HATCHED!!!

Wisconsingal,

I am not sure what the "flare protocal" is. My medications were Lupron, Repronex and Follism and they were in very low dose, my doctor told me i am the first person that he has treated with such low dose.

I suspected I developed a moderate case of OHSS, but when i told them about it they were sure that with Tylenol the pain would go away, well i was using tylenol every 4 hours and 3 at a time and still the pain was bad, My pain started immediately after ER, even before i left the hospital.

What the doctor told me is that had i gotten pregnant it would have gotten worst, I am hoping this time its better, or atleast now i know that i should drink a lot of water, i had avoided drinking a lot of water the first time because i was getting up every 10 mins to use the bathroom, i guess that was making it worst, anyway the severe pain lasted even after embryo transfer and started to get better about 6 days after. I hope both of us do not go through that pain again. I was actual scared that the pain could have caused the embryo not to implant but according to my doctor, that would not prevent the embryo to implant, so i do feel better about that.

Take care

Steph - just to say that I had a 3dpt which resulted in a BFP so there you go, its not always the 5dpt that works!! So hopefully this will put your mind at rest a little, keep that PMA up :D

Image to Kate and Mali.

Mali sorry to read of your OHSS. I've read on another thread that by drinking tons of water and I think it was gatarade (think you get in the US) helps with OHSS.

Kate - I have a good feeling too that 2007 is a good year for babies

Vicky - hope your feeling better and taking care of yourself. After my D/C I spotted on and off for a while. I was told that it would take a while for your ovaries to get back to normal hence the cramping, don;t forget the poor little things have through a bit with all the drugs. However if your still worried then chase yr clinic up to get some reassurance.

Ashe - good luck with your appt and they let you continue - fingers crossed.

Jen - I think we should join forces and campaign against all the horrendous charges! Image Here's a little jiggy dance to bring on your AF!

I'm still waiting for mine too - ***** is now 5 days late and I've done hpt which is negative - been spotting which dark blood since Friday but no real bleeding (sorry tmi  ), but it does put us back a bit. We were hoping to have a AF free holiday and try one more time naturally before starting our cycle. However if she doesn't turn up then we will miss the opportunity on hols and also push back Feb AF therefore wouldn't be starting our cycle til early/mid March. So we are toying with the idea that if she doesn't start in the next few days, we go with a cycle based on this AF.

We have also been in touch with a place in Wimbledon who do natural IVF and they can give us a consultant appt first weekend in March which would mean that we could be on our way with them by end of March. I'm leaning towards natural as it doesn't use so many drugs and also is much cheaper. But we are frightened if we don't go with the icsi with our current clinic we may lose time ~ which is not on my side!!

Jen - I think they are linked with the LFC but not sure it is them - they are called Create Health Clinic and I can't seem to find any stats for them.

oh what a dilema, my head hurts on what to do.....

Nimble,

Thanks for the info, yes we do get gatorade here in the US. I am keeping my finger crossed that with the liquid intake i should have better luck next time.

my appointment

Post by mumtojazzie »

hey guys,my appointment yesterday was all good.i start Lucrin(10units)and puregon on the 29th jan i stop taking the ocp(pill) a couple of days later,i have to then ring IVF when period starts and have a blood test on the 5th feb then ring them back after for the nxt instructions,I then take more blood test and internal ultrasound.the trigger injection of Pregnyl will be 36 hrs before the egg collection which will be on the 17th feb and 5 days later will be the transfer so we are looking at the 22nd feb and a pg test will be 16 days after that,so the transfer will be two days before our wedding. the nurse had mentioned that i may bloat and swell i am hoping it will all go down by the 24th,or my wedding dress will not fit have no idea what to do,if we cancel we have to wait till next cycle in april!! so we have decided to go with feb cycle and hope for the best my tummy will look ok on the day  i have been told i have to drink 2 litres of water while i am on this program, we had to do lots of filling out, going through the money side of things and signing papers and we got to pratice the injection shots...lol we had to make sure there was no air bubble in the needle and we put the right amount of ml etc.etc...then insert it into a pretend tummy like sponge...not looking forward to doing the real thing, and i haven't as yet convinced my dp to doing it! but give me time... so thats it my update, now i just sit back and try and relax and wait for the 29th jan.
cheers
Debbie

Mali, welcome to our thread!!!!, sorry to hear about your OHSS, that sucks, I had a very mild case of OHSS, but nothing happened fortunately, I did not have much pain with the ER, sometimes it depends on how many eggs they retrieve, the higher the amount the worse the pain, I got 11 eggs at that time, so maybe that is why, who knows......

Steph, regarding 3dt vs 5dt, I also got a BFP with a 3dt, so don't get discouraged about it, you can do it!!!

Nimble, thanks for your words, I did talk to my clinic yesterday, they had me go today for some bw, my HCG is still 8,000, so I have to go back in a week for a repeat HCG. I am having an AF kind of discharge now (sorry if TMI  ), kind of heavy, so I hope that helps to get rid of some tissue that is still producing HCG......hope so....

How is everybody else doing?????

Hey guys.

Steph, I also had a BFP with a 3 day transfer!

As for OHSS, please ask your doctor if it happens. I started feeling very uncomfortable 2 days after EC. On ET day, I was bloated but not so much in pain. It got worse the following days, so I started drinking loads of water. It got worse and worse over the next days. I had to go to the emergency, and they kept me in the hospital for 3 days. There, I was water RESTRICTED. 1 liter per day, and no salt in my food. It worked like a charm. So I am not so sure about drinking loads of water now...

Nimble, doing a Af jig for you!!
icky, sorry to hear that HCG is still high... that sucks...

Hi to all the new girls, sorry but the list is getting too long for me to remember everyone!!
