Sorry the ride is a little rough at present Aunty and others going through similar symptoms

Plan something to treat yourself over the next few days - perhaps a relaxing facial or a nice foot rub or massage or buy a favourite magazine and curl up with a blanket on the couch and have some TLC time - indulge yourself a little - it sounds like you are a wonderful support to every one - don't forget to take care of you also. Sending you and everyone else lots of hugs and wishes for the next few weeks to pass by in the least stressful way possible.

The exciting news for me is I finally got all my dates today - I start 20ml injections of Buserelin on the 23rd January, stop BCP on the 28th January, begin blood tests on the 5th Feb and if everything goes according to plan EC is on the 19th Feb In New Zealand they aim for you to grow around 12 follicles (it seems in other countries it is a lot more ???) they will also only transfer 1 embryo if you are under 35 and are having the treatment publicly funded (they say the difference in success rate between 1 & 2 embryo’s is only 2%) butso it looks like I will be only having one precious embryo transferred back in to grow into a strong healthy little baby.

The sun is finally shining over here in New Zealand after 3 days of rain. It is summer here (so they say  ) but we had the 3rd coldest December in 85 years – global warming – not here in New Zealand this year.

I came home from wok today and DH had made a lovely meal and set up a table and chairs outside overlooking the fields across the river so we could watch the sunset together. We have had a lovely relaxing evening watching the sun set together talking about our plans and dreams. He has been so kind and understanding through this process. When I first started talking about wanting children it was the last thing he wanted to do as he already has grown children – but now I think he is more excited about the whole thing than I am – he has two names for them already “Soda Pop” if it is a girl – because she will have a bubbly personality just like her dad !!! and “Little Zorro” if it is a boy – he thinks all the kids in his class will wish they had a “cool” name like that. I think we need to work on the names a little (but I have a horrible feeling they will always stick as their nick names) But it has been fun planning all the things we would love to do with code name “soda-pop” and “little Zorro”

Well I have probably gone on a little too much….. Keep smiling; there are lots of darling little “babies to be” coming close to letting all their “mum’s and dad’s to be “ know their dreams for the last few years are only 9 or so months away. Have a good night / day where-ever in the world each of you are, and all the best wishes for all your hopes and dreams.

Ok you busy little bees, GL to those who are scanning, having EC and becoming pin cushions today!

Ladies waiting for AF so sorry my cure didn't work. Glad to hear that your DH's were "willing to take one for the team!"

I'm over here jigging my ass off for you!

Just a quick note about Aveeno; it is a God send! It works on so many skin type things from winter itch and rashes right down to diaper rash. I love it and I always keep in stock.

Good morning ladies!

Phew, that was one busy beginning for my week! I'm glad to be on a lighter schedule today and tomorrow! And flamenco lessons start again tonight! woohoo!

I had a strange reaction yesterday... I usually never get an IBS crisis after I go to bed or early in the morning... but as I was just spooning with my DH and trying to fall asleep, bwllll... I had to get up. Then had a small crisis again in the morning... felt strange on the bus... a bit weird. Might be the emotions I went through yesterday evening or just IBS having fun.

About the emotions, well... everybody is SO positive here, and I've encouraged so many of you that I'm afraid I lost a bit of realism and some people on another thread made me get it back quite all at once. Everyone is different, depending on what got them here and how old they are, how many attempts they made, and so on. But with so many people insisting on the PMA and how it's vital (heck, some people treat the BFN possibility almost as if it were taboo!), and other people insisting about how having very cautious hopes prevents your world from falling apart if you get a BFN... it's hard to find your place in the middle. Anybody had that impression too? How did you cope with it?

I try to tell myself that, even if I get a BFN the first time, things won't be so bad if at least I have frozen embies. At least I won't totally have the impression that we did all this, and paid all this, for nothing. And if I get a BFN AND don't have frozen embies, I'll tell myself that my chances are automatically better next time anyway because my doctor will have gained from the experience of my first try and the test results I get, if only to dose the meds better, as he said.

One thing I should really stop doing is project myself in the future with a baby belly, or imagine how, because my first trimester would end just before Easter, we will tell my family then and then wait till we see his family in France at the end of April to break the news to them face to face with the pictures from the first trimester ultrasound. I must stop imagining that I'll be on maternity leave this fall and that next Christmas we'll bring one or two babies with us to Quebec. Must stop checking maternity websites. I think that's too borderline assuming that it will work. There's nothing wrong with daydreaming, I know, there's nothing wrong with hoping, but with all the PMA spirit here that got to me, I wonder if that kind of daydreaming is not planning for a stronger emotional reaction if I do get that BFN.

Anyway, any thoughts are welcome. I'm still trying to find my place in the grey zone there...

AF is definitely over; I only have small spotting left. Oh blessings! :P

And now, let's get personal! :D

Fed You asked if we got bloated while taking Lupron. I feel like I did, but only in the first few days. After something like four days, it was over. But there is still some amount of "water retention" going on in my case; I'm one notch over normal on my belt (I hate scales... my clothes tell me if I gain weight). My friend who's a resident told me it's most probably water retention from the meds.

Sassy, I agree with you about Ange; you might be looking at an allergic reaction sweetie! Check this website

http://www.pinelandpress.com/faq/ivfhints.html

They talk about it, and how you might not be allergic to peanut oil normally but then react to the injections. The website also gives you tricks about the oil injections, so... I hope it helps!

TansRN Oooooh! Think of your little babies who are growing now! What a sweet thought that must be! Three days! You must be counting the minutes! How old will they be when they do the transfer? How do you feel?

Aunty your headaches sound really bad and I'm sorry to hear that. It really affects everything you do when you have such a bad headache; even thinking hurts! Lavender oil is the oldest remedy; try putting a few drops on your temples and massage them, or try diffusing it in your room by putting a few drops on the heaters... And of course, rest is the key. Looks like you're having a "crash course" IVF this time... I hope the next step goes more smoothly.

Thanks for asking how I'm doing. I'm doing well; no headache, no hot flash, no mood swings. In fact, it's quite the opposite; I find myself more enthusiastic and happy than usual.

arizonakiwi oh, LOVED your TLC time suggestion! Ain't that channel great? I just can't get tired of watching Baby story, Bringing baby home or What not to wear! It's just the perfect channel to watch when you're alone at home and choose to eat in front of the TV ;)

And what a rooooooomantic time you spent with your DH! How sweet of him to prepare that nice dinner outside! *sigh* You made it sound like such a pretty sight! It's really amazing that you were able to discuss your dreams with him and joke about baby names. Hehehe love Soda Pop and Little Zorro! ;) My boss, whose wife is IVF pregnant and due in March, could only come up with Shampoo for their daughter-to-be. Tee hee hee!

Beachbaby, welcome to the world of ovarian vacation! :) Keep us posted about how it goes!

Macca and cookholmes, woohoo on starting the stimulation! Hey, one step closer, and an exciting one at that! I hope everything goes well!

Cookholmes yes, I noticed that, too! I seem to pee much more often with Lupron! go figure! ;)

And last but not least, Bec, my girl! ultrasound tomorrow! Squeeeee! Can't wait to hear about that! I would be worried, too, just like you! But I'm sure everything will be just fine, with all the tiredness you feel, your babies are growing and getting stronger each day!

Okay ladies... gotta run! Lab meeting! Take care and I'll see you around!

Thanks everyone for the feed back on my question. I now have another. Last night and today I am having occasional sharp pains in my pelvic region. I did just get my period but normally I get cramps not pains. Could these pains be becuase of the meds? Is that normal? I got for a US and BW tomorrow morning and I will ask them then but I am just concerned of a cyst. I really dont think there is one as before I would be in pain during sex and I have been fine with that. I think I am just reading into everything!

I will do personals when I get home from work. I am just getting concerned with these pains and wanted to get feed back if anyone else has expirenced this,

Thanks,
Erin

Hey all!

Aunty - ur list is so cool - u r so sweet and its amazing how you keep up with every1!! I have the worst memory ever!... I am sorry to hear about ur headaches :x - i've had a few pretty awful ones lately 2!

Jodic... I find that i have been getting AF type pains whilst stimming which i don't think i really noticed so much last time!

i went for my day 8 follie scan today and i have 14 - i'm not too sure if i'm pleased with that or not?! I'm changed clinics since my last cycle and they say they go for quality and not quantity and if u have 20 + then they do bloods and possibly cancel you so, she said 14 was a good number?!

I have to go back again friday for another scan to see how they're doing.... How many would you all say is a good number? I'm worried about the number of eggies i get?!!

Becky...ur so sweet still coming on here looking after every1 - it doesn't seem 5 minutes ago that we were doing it together- i don't know what i'll do if it doesn't work this time!

Well, lots of love to every1

Fed It might be that you read too much into it indeed. You know your body, and you know your pains... if you know what a cyst feels like in your case and it doesn't feel like that, it might be something else. I know I'm in a lot of pain when I'm bloated, because I'm bloated and because sometimes it pulls on the few adherences left from my infection/surgery. So I would talk about the pain with my doc if I were you, but I would not worry more than that. There's just no reason that your body should produce a cyst if you're not stimming.

Hope that helps!

Sophie- hey girl. I TOTALLY and I mean totally hear you. it is so hard to stay so positive no matter what cards are dealt you, but I try to look at everything as my stepping stones, good, bad and the ugly! It was so hard to really feel positive during IVF when I kept getting my BFN's. it was hard BUT it will happen. for me I KNEW I WAS the first time and I wasn't, but I had to look at it as my own growing experience and each time I had to find my silver lining, it was hard especially when all I wanted was to get my BFP. but it happens, I am still shocked it happened but it does, so keep the faith, you have all of us praying wishing and Jigging for you.. for AL of us and we get thru it, ond the day you get your BFP ou can know it is your time :)

Erin- pumpkin i hope you are doing better, my little itchie scratchy friend.
yeah I had sharp pains from time to time while stimming. totally normal. it is the increase of hormones in the system and the body doing it thing to GROW EGGIES GROW!!! I found a heating pad helped a TON!!!!!!

ok gotta fly sorry can't write more for now, but love you all!

Mom20--Thanks for the wishes. No AF yet, though I'm starting to feel some symptoms so I'm sure it will be any day now. I'm so sorry to hear you're depressed. I come from a long family of depression sufferers (myself included) so I know how horrible it can be. Please take care of yourself and do everything you can to get out of the blue. It's such an overwhelming thing and I know it's hard to fight! Wishing you the best!
