 Hi girls

Nimble - Thanks for that fab jiggy dance, spooky but i had some rumbles in the old tum department today and think af will be here in the next week.
Where in Surrey are you from? I used to live in Pirbright near Woking and worked in Weybridge, Kingston and Cobham.

Steph - 3 day transfers seem to have just as much success so don't give up. In the UK they don't seem to be so hot on 5dt and most are dont on day 2 or 3.

Mali - Welcome. Hope your feeling better?

Starting to get a bit panicky about this cycle as its all so new and looks so complicated. The ovulation kit looks like double dutch and the tablets have different days and different colours--------oh to be able to S@@g and wait 9 months, wouldn't it be such bliss

Ok am back to work today so must dash

Love Jen x

Thanks ladies for all of your encouragement (re: 3dt vs. 5dt). You know how it is when your clinic tells you one thing and then you get online and read another...sometimes the internet is a curse!

And on another note I just have to say that I am SOOOO happy to have found this board and this thread, more specifically. I was honestly starting to feel hopeless and just had this knot in my stomach that maybe all the troubles we were having were a sign from God that I'm not meant to have a baby. Especially when I'm surrounded by fertile myrtles who seem to have no problems getting pg and even worse complain the whole nine months as if it was an annoyance...that's the worst!!!! Grrrrr!!

But talking to all of you and reading all of your stories has truly inspired me!! I am now excited to start the IVF process instead of scared and discouraged. I just know that 2007 is going to be a great year for all of us!!!!!

Thanks everyone for the Welcome this is truely a great forum.

Souris,

I was reading you experience with OHSS, do you think using a lot of water from the begining of stimulation will help, because you are right about limiting the water to 1liter after you get OHSS, i have read it on another site also, what i do not understand is they have also recommended to use gatorade but i know that is high in sodium, so i am a bit confused about what might really help, any suggestions from anyone? I am somehow really scared of this OHSS again.

Dear Ladies

Happy New Year to you all.

May I join you please?

Some of you I know from previous threads and I look forward to getting to know you all better. :D

A little history. I had blocked tubes diagnosed around this time last year. We did a long cycle (down reg on bursulin, 150ml of purgeon stimmies) in March/May last year. Got 13 eggs of which 8 fertilised. 2 back and 6 frozen. Changed consultant as 1st guy retired. New consultant wanted to do a laparoscopy to check it all out which was done in June. He then had a go at opening up my tummy, cutting out the gunk and repairing my tubes at the start of August. All August barely able to move, we had no success naturally and were told to wait til 2007 for next ivf. We lost patience in October - I know that you all understand that! Did another cycle just before Xmas. Short/antagonist protocol (I found this much easier). No down regging. Just 150ml of puregon and then a second set of jabs from Day 5 onwards. Only 6 eggs (but that was mainly as they could only reach 1 ovary). 4 fertilised. 3 back. CRICKY!!! No fab Xmas pressie for me.

Had follow up review today. Consultant was great. I went in with a v long list of questions. Debated Fresh vs. Frozen and have agreed to go for another Fresh cycle. Need to wait for Feb AF as they want you to have 3 AFs between tmts. So will start stimmies of Day 2 of my Feb AF. Jan AF should be here tomorrow but know that I will be late due to drugs so expect to be about 5 days late. Thankfully can do short protocol again so should be looking at EC/ET at the end of Feb. Hope that means I can be part of this family?? Please........

I have read back on the thread but will do more of that over the coming days so I can to know you all a little better.

Let's hope that 2007 really is our year.

Love Carolyn xxx

PS -Mali - Nearly got OHSS on cycle 1 but ate loads of protien and drank milk as well as water and that certainly helped me.

Nerms

Just to answer on your questions from a couple of pages back.......

My AF is longer than 28 days - 31 days and sometimes up to 35 days. I still started my protocol on Day 21 so think that they just start you then regardless.

Think someone else has said the same but just thought that I'd re-iterate as may be you'll be going sooner rather than later!!

Steph ~ I know lots on here had success with day 3 transfers and my best friend as well as my aunt also had success on day 3 (at my same clinic that just started doing day 5 transfers about 5 yrs ago). My best friend had triplets with two 6 cell embies and one 4 cell!!! That's pretty impressive and defintiely proves day 3 can be be very successful! Also, day 3 embies have better success rates with freezing than day 5 blasts...

Welcome Carolyn!!! :D These girls are great!

Well, I had my appt. today and, unfortunately, they said since my period is so sporadic this month, I have to wait until I have a normal cylce before proceeding. My dh says...it's only a month in the big scheme of things, but as you guys know, all of these "just a month" adds up!
Oh welll, I'll probably be March now (if all goes well!!), but I'll still support all you guys ~ so show me how it's done!

Good Luck to All!

Hi girls,

Welcome Kate, Steph & Carolyn. You will get a lot of good information here!

Vicky - Hope you start to feel better soon. I will continue to pray for you, let us know how you are and what your RE says.

AEJ - I know it is difficult to wait (they wouldn't do a Dec IVF for me and made me wait until Feb), but tell yourself that you are waiting to give yourself the very best chance of getting that little bundle of joy. It's been really tough on me too. Everywhere I look someone has a little one, even the cows on my way to work all have little ones.

Debbie - You will do great, the thought of doing the shots is much worse than the actual shots so don't worry too much.

Wisconsingal - My RE said that "flare" is a different type of suppression. I took 2 weeks of repronex to supress, supress, supress. This time they are giving me the same drugs for stimulation, except they will only be giving me 2 injections of micro-lupron and 8-10 days of BCP for suppression before stimulation. I will still be on the Repronex only more because my eggs did not get to the quality that they should. Only 4 fertilized and 3 made it to day 3--none to full blastocyst stage. Hope that helps explain some.

I'm a little put out with my clinic. My DH has to have surgical sperm retrieval (not covered by insurance) and the last time they told me it could not be cryofrozen. Now they are telling me that they may have to cryofreeze it. They also told me that the sperm retrieved was not mature and not very motile, so I should consider donor sperm. Why would I pay for this expensive surgery if I wanted to do donor sperm? How stupid is that. They did ICSI last time and the RE said it was my eggs that weren't the quality he'd hoped for, so what's the big deal. Sorry I'm just venting!
I've learned from this elsewhere in this forum that ICSI fixes sperm problems. Anyone know anyone with this issue?

I know the pains of insurance. My insurance will pay for 4 procedures (not many) and I have a lifetime cap on the meds and looks like I have exceeded that cap this time out. Don't know if I can go but this one more time. We'll see what happens, I'm not thinking anything but positively this time!!!!

Sorry for the venting. I think I am stressed out and I will be better after Saturday........Thanks Ladies for all the encouragements.

Back to the studying.

Vicky - thanks for the welcome. I am sad you are here. It must be hard to get that elusive BFP and then to m/c. Sending you big hugs. I know that everyone says this but it does show that you can get pregnant. I have a good friend who lost 1 but then got a BFP the next time around. She feels that her body knew what to do. I hope that this will be your time hun. It is good that you have snow babies so you don't have so many jabs and also no EC. I'll do the AF jog for you too. Have acu later today and hope that will help sort me out

Hopeful2bPregnant - Thanks for the welcome. Cannot help with the insurance side of things as sadly in the UK our insurance does not cover anything. Cannot see why ICSI would not solve the sperm issues. I'd hold out for what you want and insist that they use dh's sperm.

I know exactly what you mean. It seems that every woman in the world is pregnant rather than me when I walk down the streets and until I come onto the board. Some of my insensitive friends (who know what we are going through) even sent us Xmas cards from X, Y ,....... and Bump.

Debbie - as Julia says, you'll be a pro at the shots before you know it - giving the other ladies tips. It really is quite scary thinking about it but actually doing them is fine. Honest and I am a wimp!

Reach-AEJ - Thanks for the welcome too. I could not have got through the last year without finding this board. It has been my life line. I am sorry that you might have to wait until March. A month sounds like a lifetime when we are just waiting to start. My dh sounds like yours. He tends to be really rationale but that is usually to compensate for me going loopy!! Sorry if I am suggesting anything that you have tried - but have you considered Acupuncture to help regulate your AF. I have been going since my 1st negative and I found that it made quite a big difference for me. Just a thought? Let's hope that the next month or two just whizzes by

Pep23/Steph - my clinic also told me that if you wait for 5 day transfer then you can lose 'very good' embryos that just don't like being away from 'home' for that length of time that could be used to give you an extra frozen cycle. My clinic does do 5day transfers but uses 2 day as their 'normal' approach as that is what has given them most success. Guess all the clinics have different approaches - if only they knew what would work for each of us!!!

Jen - one of the wonderful Oct 05 chicks - Should read back, but your protocol sounds complex. Can I ask what they are trying for you? As you say, what joy to be able to have a quickie and for it to happen by magic. Some people just don't know how lucky they are do they. Have you heard from Lola lately I am just concerned for her. We are both at Hammersmith and cycled a day apart pre-Xmas - just missed each other in ET. I know that she went to NY on Boxing Day but have not seen her post since then. Any news?

Popped in as bored at work. Guess that I should get back and do something as need to leave at a reasonable time to get to see my wonderful acupuncture man this evening.

Hugs to everyone else. Nearly the weekend. Yippee.
Love Carolyn xx

Hopeful ~ thanks for the message...I know what you mean about everyone around having babies! My best friend is due Jan 28th and my younger sister is on her 3rd month. My sister told us she was pregnant when I did my last IVF in Nov/Dec and now, by the time we get to do the FET (we have to a ER first - freeze everything - then do a FET) she will already be having her baby...that has been upsetting. I feel ridiculous and jealous and I don't ever talk about it, but it's nice to be able to vent somewhere... :x
As far as your situation, your clinic sounds like mine in terms of mixed messages. We've had a few issues where I wandered what the h@# was wrong with them! I hope you address that concern with them. I don't know anyone with your exact situation, but I will keep an eye out on the boards. Good Luck

Carolyn ~ I have tried acupuncture when I did my last IVF and I do believe it helped with Egg Quality - which is what we needed. I never thought of it in terms of regulating my cycle...hmmmm. I actually have an appt to go next week (because I thought we would be doing ER again soon) - I was going to cancel - but maybe I'll go and hope it helps get me back on track. Thanks for the idea! Good Luck to you!!

Hi ladies,

I was posting here earlier and had a little vacay in California and when I got back I can't believe the number of posts I've missed.

Charity, I am so sorry about your insurance issues. The financial aspect with all this definitely sucks! My thoughts and prayers are with you and dh. I hope you will find a way to get that baby of your dreams!

Everyone else, I'm still trying to get to know you guys and learning this whole process. I am learning so much from all of you.

I did have my 2nd HSG today and found out my rt tube is still open (thank goodness!!) but dilated in the distal end which is why my IUI's were not working. I will have my IVF consult tomorrow and so scared and excited to be finally starting this.

 Hi guys

Wecome to all the newies especially my old mucker CarolynB.

Good to see you have joined us again and will be around to support me AGAIN.
Carolyn -This time the Docs want to get more eggs from us as the 3rd cycle was not as positive as the others. Basically if i don't respond well this time then it's probably because my eggs are deteriorating, they should really be better for a girl my age but hey that life and we will just have to keep hoping and praying. So i have to call the hospital when af arrives, any day hopefully and they are putting me on an ovulation kit and then hrt tablets. This is called a flare cycle (i think) and is meant to boost the ovaries for more eggs. I then have to do dreaded injections (Emla at the ready) and have the transfers as normal. Its a totally different cycle and am a bit nervous as it looks so complicated but us infertility chicks are tough and we'll manage

AF is playing games with me. I am usually spot on time but after some rumbles in the tum i thought it was due but nothing yet.
So will end on good news for a change. After my last cycle i called my own Dr to ask for help with the funding, she had said it wasn't possible before but i though i would chance my luck and ask again. Anyway she called back last night and said she would fund the drugs even though she will get her knuckles wrapped. She feels as this may be my last try its worth the hassle. She is fab. So now at least we get £8oo off the bill and only have to pay just over £2000. Finally some positive news.

Slept really badly last night and am working at 2.30 today. Got up saw the rain and black clouds, was so pleased i couldn't go running and am going back to bed for an hour---i NEVER do this but what the hell got to live dangerously sometime eh

Take it easy buds

Oh Carolyn forgot to say about Lola.

She is the same as me, 3 cycles and still no joy so she took some time out and was quiet for a couple of weeks but jumped back (can't leave us Octo chicks for long  ). Anyway since her NY visit there has been no reply. I sent her a couple of messages to her home email but they are not working either so am a little concerned but i'm sure she is fine and will log on soon. Its also a bit tough on our thread as one of the girls has just had a baby, which we are all thrilled about but for some its hard to be around if there is news like this. Don't know if its this but sometimes others need some space, doesn't mean we are not thrilled for the other people, just find it tough.
Oh also just remembered something which was so tough for me yesterday. We have a new student in work and yesterday she was telling me about her 3 kids and how the 13yr old was a complete pain in the butt and how she was an accident and she cried for 2ww trying to make a decision about whether to keep the baby or not. I know everyones circumstances are different, i just had to smile and chat to her but was screaming inside

Ok vent over. Will let you know if my Loopy Lola logs on soon
