Souris~ sorry to hear that. I had bad news this week too (AF not regular enough) and I'm postponed to Feb (March ER) as well. I know how you feel. Hopefully the next AF will be more timely and regular! I am going to do acupuncture to try and help get my body back in sync...I guess that's all i can do for now. Hang in there![/b]

Hi girls, how are you doing??

Souris, so sad to hear that...but, what do you mean that AF came to early?, it didn't give you time to fly to France you mean?....anyway, hope everything turns out to be ok, we might be cycling together since I will probably do transfer around end Feb/begining of March..

AEJ, same thing that I told Souris, sorry to hear your cycle was delayed, that sucks, I know how much we appreciate time we IVF'ers.....hope time flies until next AF!!

Wisconsingal, that sounds like great news to me!!!, 10 follies so far is great!!!!, hope everything goes on like this!!!

Jen, here goes an AF dance for you Image.....hope it works!

Anna, good luck tomorrow at your consult!!!, how did vacations go??

Carolyn, thanks for the support and nice story about your friend, hope I have the same fate....., about the insensitivity of some friends, same thing happened to me, friends sending Xmas cards signing "me, DH, and baby" .....can't they see who are they sending the card to??, I just had the m/c by that time, so that makes it even worse!!....ok enough rant....hehe

As per me, I had some tough days lately, but it all seems to be having a good ending. As I told you a couple of days ago, I was bleeding heavily since Tuesday night, with lots of clots, and horrible cramps, then it subsided a bit, but yesterday, I sneezed and a horrible "ball of tissue" or whatever it was (sorry if TMI  ) came out from down there....so I panicked and called RE, said to take the sample to the clinc so they could send it to the lab, and they repeated my HCG, fortunately it dropped from 8,000 to 1,500, and today I had a scan which showed only some clots left, so that is a great relief, since after all this there was a possiblity that they would have to do a repeat D&C (I would freak out emotionally and financialy if that was the case)...............so now I just hope my real AF comes soon enough to start next cycle...........

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYBODY!!!!!

Weight gain

Post by ajdecker »

Hey, I have a quick question. For those of you have gone through ivf already, is there weight gain when going through the cycle? I mean other than the bloating and such?

Thanks everyone!

 Hi girls

Vicky - Thanks for your jig, it did the trick, AF arrived yesterday.

Vicky, AEJ and Souris - Big hug to you all as you have had yucky news.

Ajdecker - I did get lots of bloating in the ovary dept but not too bad and not really painful but its a weird feeling as you can feel things moving about a bit :? As for weight gain, yes i put on some but i think thats because i could not go swimming and gave up my running during the cycle but i have heard others put on weight with the drugs they use.

So my AF arrived yesterday, spooky as i had just written about it. So i start my ovulation kit on the 21st and its all go from there. Round 4 ding, don't know how i feel about this cycle though as it might be our last if we dont get a good response with the eggs, so keep everything crossed for me.
Ok off to do a sleepover at work so catch up tomorrow

Hi everyone!

Vicky, I'm glad everything turned out right that you don't need another D&C. Do you start with the IVF cycle right away when next af comes?

AEJ, I noticed you are doing acupuncture too. I had my IVF consult yesterday and I told my RE I want to do acu during the cycle. How many sessions is it usually and for how long? Are there real good benefits to doing it? Does insurance pay for it?

As with my plan according to RE I'm waiting for AF to start in beg of Feb and then start bcp's then Lupron shots on day 20 and ER and 3dET around March. My question is, I'm a coffee and soda drinker (caffeine loaded) so do I stop them altogether now or in moderation until the cycle when I actually have to avoid all caffeine? I've read on the Zita West book about vitamins too. Do you guys take all kinds of vitamins (coenzyme q10, fatty acids, magnesium, etc...) or a multivitamin is ok?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Ladies

Happy Saturday. Hope that you are all having a good one! Long post coming up from me!

Souris - I am so sorry that you got put back. Not much consolation but I am looking at EC/ET at the end of Feb so looks like our dates might be quite similar. I know that ever delay is such a downer though when you are first told. Sorry that you have to spend time away from your dh. That is hard. Hugs for you

AEJ - sorry for you too. Waiting. Waiting. Waiting. Hope that the next month flies by for you. I do find that the acu is helping keep me regular so muct be worth a try. Really hope that it helps

Jen - Thanks so much for the news on Lola. I do hope that she is ok. I miss her. Truely understand about the babies on old thread. I have some on April-May, including twins, which was my 1st go and I want to feel really happy but it just breaks my heart some days. There are really only 2 of us on April-May who are not yet pregnant - know that there is still you, Lola, Walshy and Little R on Oct 05. I often sneak a peek to see how you are all doing. Sorry about the girl at your place of work. Cannot believe that you did not deck her.

Glad AF came for you. At least with all the drugs they are trying something really different for you sweetie. I am sure that you'll be a pro after a few days. Just like we get with the jabs! I so hope that this will be your time. Great news that your dr agreed to pay for your drugs. Every bit helps in £. Wonder if male dr would have done the same

Vicky - sweets I am so sorry that this is yucky for you. I so hope that it will come to an end soon. The scan sounds like things are really close to a closure for you. It must be so wearing both physically and emotionally for you. Big hugs. Hope that AF is here for you soon

Anna - Glad that consultantion went well. On acupuncture. Cannot comment on insurance as us UK girls get no help at all! However I am a big fan. Started after -ve number 1. I went twice a month. Around ovulation and then just before AF. Brought AF from 35 days to 31. And made it less painful and more red (sorry if tmi). In cycle I went on Day of stimmies and before and after ET. At scan 1 they commented on how fab my lining was. Did not help end result but they think that is just rubbish eggs at my age. I did find the acu helped me handle the stress and also the side effects of the drugs too. You can tell that I am a fan. I have to pay £45 for a session. My consultant recommended that I continue acu at my last appointment after the -ve through ivf no 3. On vitamins I take 1 Zita West pre-pregnancy tablet 3 times a day. It includes my folic acid. I was a huge tea and coffee drinker plus diet coke. I carried on with it all through cycle 1 but after it failed I told myself I would do everything to help. I have the odd cup of tea - like after EC or my ops. It was hard at the start - headaches etc but I do feel better for it. I sleep so well. Guess we all have to make our own choices. It cutting it all out will stress you then just try to cut back a little maybe? Hope this helps a bit

Ajdecker - I did put on some weight. I think that it is a mixture of not doing too much some days and lazing around, giving yourself some treats plus also the drugs. Burselin to down reg seemed worse for me that the stimmies but guess that it varies. The good news is that I dropped a few pounds quite quickly at the end of each tmt

WISCONSINGAL - 10 eggs is great at this early stage. I think that the estrogen can really picks up towards the end of the stimmies. They also don't want it to high as that can lead to OHSS I believe. Sure if they said that it was fine then you'll be right on track. Sorry that I cannot be any more specific for you. When do you go again - Monday? If you are worried then I'd call the clinic back to ask if you are concerned

Charity - have read back and so sorry to see the news about your insurance. I really feel for you. I hope that there is a way for you

Hugs to everyone else. I have been doing some work today. Pithcing for some business that would get me some work & £ over next couple of months so don't mind unless I don't get it. Need to keep a bit busy whilst cycling otherwise will go mad.

Good acu session on Thursday. He worked on trying to bring AF back on track after drugs. I was thinking that she would not show to Monday but signs are that she is just around the corner. Means that I am a little closer to cycle 3. He has given me some herbs to drink during AF also to 'clean me out'. They look and taste discussing! What ever it takes!!!

Any way better get back to my proposal and try to earn some money!

Love to you all.

Hey Everyone--

It's so rainy here in the US (kentucky). Two days of rain and it's not ending anytime soon, flood warnings, etc. Hopefully, it will clear off soon but getting colder.......I'm ready for just a little snow. None yet this year (except a few flurries). The CPA test today was hard, but no time to rest I have another part the 10th of February and I will be on meds too. What a trip

Adjecker - I gained about 10 pounds from all the drugs and holidays. Don't know which had the greater effect, the drugs or food. Maybe both. Trying to exercise, but not doing so great right now with the rain. Maybe I will put in an exercise tape later. Don't worry too much about it. I did have some bloating but not as uncomfortable as I had imagined.

Anna - I'm with Carolyn......whatever it takes! I went from drinking caffine coffee to 1/2 and 1/2 coffee and then to decaf (that cut down on the headaches). Although Zita's book said decaf was bad too. I am trying to keep with my water regiment, but I get tired of trips to the bathroom, especially in the middle of the night. I'm trying to replace some of it with Gatorade (diluted some). I really hate water and Gatorade makes water more tollerable.

Wisconsingal -- I think 10 follies sounds great. I didn't have that many so soon. I only ended up with 8 the first time and I'm hoping with the increase in my meds this time that I will get more too. Keep us posted, I'm really getting excited for you.

Everyone is in my prayers......

Hi girls, its been a few days since i last checked the posts and alot seems to have happened with a lot of you....still trying to get to know you all...wishing all the best for you....thanks carolyn for the advise regarding day 21 if your cycle is longer, i went to the open evening at my clinic on weds-it was very informative, on monday i have my first consultation and then hopeful AF will arrive first day of feb! In the meantime i thought i should try and do as much preparatory work as possible-was wandering if any of you could give me the title of the zita west book you refer to? I've heard lots of good things about the book-but i think she has a few titles-just wandered which title you were reading?

Souris, aej and vicky just wanted to say all the best-it's a bummer having to play this waiting game-hope the month flies by for you...keep busy!

Jen was reading your post-and i really wish you all the very best-i really hope it works for you this time...sending you lots of baby dust!

Anna-please let me know how your acu goes if you have it? would love to have a go myself-going to look into it-does anyone know of a good clinic in london-well near london bridge or harrow ideally.

Julia-how are you? It seems obvious that ICSI should be the most suitable choice of treatment...but then what do i know!! :?

Wincosigial...hope your doing ok...and looking after yourself.

All the best to all of you girls!

 Hi buds

This is a quick one as i've been on sleepover at work it was a mad night.

Come 22.00 and all my peace was disturbed, two yp did not return and my keychild has been missing overnight and is still gone. The other was missing and drinking but did return and another had a strop and tantrum as she couldn't have an overnight with her sister---way too much stress for a lady in ivf waiting mode

Anyway time to chill, its pouring with rain and the wind is so bad i think my house is going to fall over. So pj's are on and i'm going nowhere.

Thanks for you good luck wishes with my cycle, your a great bunch of girls to have around for support

Catch up tomorrow

Glad Open Evening went well. Good luck for your consultation tomorrow.

I go to acu in London. Not near Harrow or London Bridge but is on Jubilee line. On Harley Street. Cost is £45 per session. Think that kick off session cost a bit more. I go on average about twice a month. I used to have a massage to de-stress me. I cut that out to save some money and spend it on acu instead. Needs must and all of that!

Cannot rate the guy that I see highly enough. Can PM you all the details and an e-mail address if you are interested & if the location might work for you. Just not sure that I am meant to put details on here in case it is viewed as 'selling'.

He does get very booked up so you need to be organised if you want the later appointments (after work) but has a couple of female collegues who are also good. They fitted me in on ET day - before and after - and let me wait no more than 5 mins to see them.

They know most of the clinics and consultants in London so I find talking to someone objective is helpful for me too. Saw him on Thursday for 1st time since my -ve in December and he spent 1 hs 20mins with me. Luckily I was his last appointment of the day!!!

PM me if you want to know more.
Love Carolyn xxx

---------------------------------------

Julia - Hope that the exam went well yesterday. I am an accountant. Qualified in UK but have worked in New York for two separate stints. Recall the exams like they were yesterday. I know the amount of study involved. Good Luck with the next lot of revision - what subject is up next??
--------------------------------------------
Hope that everyone else has had a good weekend. Dh and I went to James Bond film on Friday. Felt like a date. Not been to movies for ages. Plus we went to town today to get dh some birthday pressies as it is his b/day next Sunday. Quite successful and some of the items were at least in the sale.

AF here so my ticker is about right give or take a day. I should start a month from tomorrow!!!

Have a good week everyone.
Love

ANNAG - CAN YOU GIVE ME THE LOW DOWN ON WHAT THE ZITA WEST BOOK SAYS ON WHEN TO DO THE ACUPUNCTURE......I'VE HAD (2) SESSIONS SO FAR $85 FOR THE 1ST ONE, AND $55 FOR THE (2ND) AND I'M DO TO GO BACK THIS WEDNESDAY FOR THE 3RD SESSION. IT'S PRETTY FUNKY......HE'S GOT THEM IN MY EARS, FOREHEAD, HEAD, STOMACH, KNEES, AND FEET.......???? RIGHT NOW MY ER MIGHT BE THIS SATURDAY.......SHOULD I GO WEDNESDAY OR BASED ON HER THEORIES, IS IT BETTER TO WAIT???? ANY IMPUT FROM ANYONE WHO'S EITHER HAD SUCCESS OR IS TRYING WHAT I'M TRYING WOULD BE GREAT. I'M 41, AND THIS IS MY LAST ATTEMPT AT THIS SO THAT'S THE ONLY REASON I'M TRYING "ANYTHING" AT THIS POINT.
